You don't seem to understand. This was several years into the future. The author intentionally wanted to keep the whole romance and pairings opened to the reader and be up to interpretation. You just have to visualize how many years things could possibly change, and im sure that is what the novels and part 3 of the manga will help to tie up those loose ends.

In fact one of the novels the author already officially stated that it reveals sakura's feelings and why she chose sasuke, despite all of the shit he's done.

I think you too many eat dirt which made by SP, it was SP who made NS which actually non-romantic into romantic. Only to squeze wallet of helpless pinky flat chest tsundere lover.

Example how SP made Sakura so helpless despite her act in manga

The novels are already coming out.

The one with Kakashi is pretty well written from the translations I´ve read and elaborates on the aftereffects of the war and the conflict that still exists.

After rewatching the entirety of part one I remebered alot of things that made Sasuke into a likeable character.

It´s pretty crucial to read the Hogake summit arc in order to understand her feelings.

Sasuke intended to sacrifice several times his life for her/Naruto.

I don´t know anyone besides parents who are capable of doing something of that value.

In the Kage summit they also don´t consider him to be evil, they think of him as a victim of circumstances.

In essence it´s the "you are somewhere in there" cliche.

The real Sasuke is the good guy we remember from the old days.

In regards of the other pairings, they are used to show the relations between the villages.

If you take a look, most of them got partners from different villages outside of Konoha. Which would have been unthinkable before the war arc.

The Japanese branch of Amazon lists Shikamaru Hiden, the second of six planned Naruto epilogue novels, for March 4. The novel will be penned by Takashi Yano. The first novel by Akira Higashiyama, Naruto - Kakashi Hiden: Hyōten no Ikazuchi (Naruto - Kakashi Hidden Legend: Lightning of the Frozen Sky), will ship in Japan on February 4.

The story of Naruto - Kakashi Hiden: Hyōten no Ikazuchi revolves around Kakashi Hatake, who is melancholy despite his new position as the Sixth Hogake. In addition, an incident has occurred in the new peaceful, orderly ninja world.

Beginning in February, one volume of the Hiden novel series will be released per month. The full list of novels and release dates is as follows:

Kakashi Hiden ('hiden' means 'secret legend') - February 4
Shikamaru Hiden - March 4
Akatsuki Hiden - April
Gaara Hiden - June
Sakura Hiden - July
Konohagakure Hiden - August

Kishimoto had said in an interview in November that he will still have other work left to do in the Naruto franchise until summer, so he will not begin preparing his next non-Naruto title in earnest until after that. A new film following Naruto and Hinata's son Bolt and Sasuke and Sakura's daughter Sarada will open in August.

Also this was translated not to long ago bout the Shikimaru Hidan Novel

Details of extended Synopses:

Everywhere post-war, there’s been an outbreak of multiple incidents of shinobi (who have) disappeared. Even in Konoha, Sai has vanished…The shinobi who disappeared went towards an enigmatic and developing nation called “The Country of Silence”. Shikamaru accepts the mission to assassinate the head of the “Country of Silence”. What did he see there…? The greatest battle of Nara Shikamaru will be depicted in the second book in the Hiden series!

All of the novels bridge the story from Chapter 699 to the Last naruto the movie, so yeah they definitely will feel in those gaps left behind with that sudden time skip. I definitely look forward to it.

I don't feel like making a whole new topic about the ending so forgive me for high jacking(kinda?) this thread. This is from a Team Gai fan's POV

I just want some closure and none of my RL friends care about Naruto ;_; As usual I am super late to the party. I was ignoring the manga while waiting for the anime to finish, but meanwhile I saw so many spoilers that yesterday I just went and read the last 40 chapters of the manga.

The ending. No. No. NO. You do not do this. My heart sank when they showed Neji's grave ;_;
It's bad enough that Tenten did not express any feelings when Neji died, even in the anime, but this ending was just terrible from a Team Gai's POV.

At that scene where everyone stares at Neji's grave, Tenten and Lee are not even there. WTF Kishimoto! Tenten never expressed any sadness over Neji even at the end. What poor writing. Earlier in the manga, Tenten looks at Gai and Lee and thinks "ugh why did you leave me alone with those two?" And that's like...the worse reaction ever. Like the only reason she cares that Neji is gone is because now she has to deal with the idiots alone?? I hope it's better handled in the anime! (Nothing was said about Shikaku and Inoichi either...)

My only (small) highlight was when Tenten is stuck in Tsukuyomi and Neji is in her dream. Although even there, she only cares about Lee and Gai not being idiots. *sigh*

I'm an adult, I can deal with the fact that none of my ships came true. I accept all the ShikaTema, NaruHina, SaiIno, Choujixthat Cloud girl(dafuq?) and KibaxWhothehellwasthisgirl of this world. I would accept Tenten and Neji NOT being together if it meant that Neji was alive. Heck, if Neji married some random girl I'd be really disappointed but I would accept it because he'd be alive and we could still make up our stories. But now he's not there and only Hinata (mildly) cares.

You know, I would have been okay with Tenten and Lee ending up together. LeeTen has always been cute. I would have been satisfied with that. I know there's nothing to prove or disprove that they did not get together, but I was under the impression that they did not. Otherwise it would have been super obvious like it was with the others. While everyone is shown being married, having kids and being happy, Tenten is only shown being bored and alone and owning a business that doesn't work! Why does Tenten always get the short end of the stick? If only she had said something like "If only you were still here..." But NOPE! Nothing.

I can't shake the feeling that Neji died only to set up NaruHina. OR that he died only so Naruto had the correct number of friends when everyone was a tail of the Kyuubi for that one attack. (Remember that?) What if for 15 years of Naruto, Tenten never actually cared all that much about Neji??

Tenten's design looks really cool in The Last. I wonder how Neji's design looks... OH WAIT HE'S DEAD!!! I haven't seen The Last yet (where can I see it?) but I'm sure Tenten appears for just 30 seconds and nobody mentions Neji except maybe Hinata for one second...

In my head, Neji and Tenten got together in the Road to Ninja universe! Sure Neji is a pervert but it's still Neji. *coughAndsinceTentenissoclumsy, theymusthavereallyinterestingsexcough*

It looks like Naruto - or is it Boruto now? - will continue in some form. But none of it is worth it if Neji is dead and Tenten is forgotten!! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DIE NEJI?? He was only 18/19 !! I've never been so upset over the death of a fictional character! If only it had been done well!! Help me, Naruto community!!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go watch a marathon of Lee's Springtime of Youth. It's the canon Naruto! The superior Naruto! AT LEAST WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH! THEY CAN NEVER TAKE IT FROM US!! Enjoy the current Chuunin Exam filler in the anime, cause it's the last Team Gai story we'll ever see!

I leave you with this parting gift. It's the full version of Twinkle Twinkle, the first ending theme of Springtime of Youth, the best opening of Naruto history because dancing Neji is adorable. It shall be Team Gai's anthem for years to come.

I get that you are upset, but drama cannot exist if some characters don´go through hardships.

Death is an easy way to create hardships everyone understands.

No Neji didn´t hat to die for the sake of the Naruhina ship, he had to die to get the Naruhinaship sailing, enable Hinatas memorable speach, give the Neji fans something to grief about.
Shock the audience with the death of a character that we cared about, because killing off fodder doesn´t make the manga sad.
It gave Naruto alot of character development in just one chapter and and was a callback to Nejis character development which he had in part one.
And even extended it visibly for the viewership.

It´s impossible to create drama without killing off someones favorite character and I was expecting Kakashi to die I was pretty sure Kishi would go through with it but well he was given a duty afterwards, so he wasn´t killed.

Neji without his death isn´t a tragic character, and probably way less people would care about him if he wasn´t.

He was simply the best candidate out of the Konoha 11 cast, because of his connections, remember Neji was one of the first bonds Naruto forged.

If Shino or Tenten would have died it could not have been written as impactful.

Ino Shika Cho would neither fit as good.

Sakura could have had a similar impactful death but Kishi decided to go that way we must accept that it´s the authors work and if you don´t like the outcome that´s your decision , but denying the story won´t change reality.

You make valid points.
I guess the part I really have trouble with is how his death was quickly swept under the rug by his own team mates. Lee is showing crying for a panel, Gai says don't cry but otherwise doesn't show much emotion. Tenten is the worse of all and never expresses any sadness at all. They were left out of the grave scene even :/

I hope the anime handles this better. I just would have liked to see them have some closure. I'm not denying the story but the reactions were done too poorly for me to accept =(

It was a war after all and Tenten has been shown to be the more mature character out of the group.

People died left and right, it would have been impactful to see all the Konoha nin shed some tears, but it´s unrealstic, which was explained at the start of the war in the conversation between Kankuro and Omoi.

The manga is Naruto centered, that´s probably the reason we see him and Hinata at his Grave and not Nejis mom or Hanabi who is equaly related to Neji as Hinata.

Lees reaction was more akin to his goofy character, while the others simply remained their cool "to not lose more comrades".

Simply the fact that everyone who had an affiliation with him had him in his dream alive should be reason enough to show their affection towards him.

But showing him in everyones dream would be overkill.

Remember we saw Shikamarus dad in his dream and Inos in hers but not in Tentens.

Kishi is also way more merciful as a writer than him.

No, but her story needs to get resolved we don´t know what happened to her.

But regarding her giving up she did during the war arc when she saw Sakura she realized that they´ll never have the same bond.

Some of her thoughts expressed that and she looked sad.

I'll comment about the ending of naruto manga even though it's a bit too late.
To be honest, i'm agree with people that said that the ending was rushed. There's many things that bother me, but the thing that bother me the most is about the pairings, especially for naruhina and sasusaku. It's not like i hate the pairings, on the contrary i supposed prefer naruhina and sasusaku IF ONLY they've made better plot about how they developed their feelings to each other. Some people said that naruto is shounen manga and not romance and there's no need to explore more about the love story. Actually, they're right that this is shounen manga, but if we leave things as it is, there would be a big problem about the plot hole. If they (the makers/the author of this manga) are really want to pair naruto with hinata and also sasuke with sakura, IT IS A MUST for them to show us how they eventually love each others. And to show us that, they need more story and chapter. If they really wanted to end this manga earlier and didn't want to explore more about the love story, it would be better if they made narusaku instead of naruhina because it's just not make any sense how they are paired as it is now.
I just can't accept that naruto feelings toward sakura is fake like sakura in THE LAST MOVIE mentioned. It's just too realistic how naruto love her and it's too sudden to make him confessed to hinata. I'm agree that everything's posible but there should be a reason behind everything that happens especially when we are talking about story in movie, anime, and in this case it's about manga. Story development/plot is ESSENTIAL since they're made to be understood by the reader/viewer.

I had some complaint about the last chapter and did not like the way it ended but in terms of the overall series, its just awesome. Really one of best manga ever. And glad that new chapters came out and looks like the continuation with the kids. Truly to me Naruto is my second favorite manga of all time after One Piece even though the quality of Naruto deteriorated a lot especially the war arc, but the characters are awesome. And the new chapter is great.

Eh, well I already had it spoiled that Naruto x Sakura wasn't a think long ago (hence why I never bothered finishing the series) but at least I can be content with Shikamaru x Temari.

Leave it to Tsunade to still look ever young, whereas Mei has got fat. :P

Kind of curious as to what was up with the scene with Sasuke at the end (of course I'm sure the sequel will enlighten me). Guessing it's either his daughter pranking him, or someone like Karin or Orochimaru stalking him.

Took me a long while to remember which female wore glasses, in regards to Salad(?)... but now it hit me, aren't those Karin's glasses? Maybe someone already mentioned this or it's already been explained but that's definitely curious.

Eh, granted my knowledge is limited from having not read any of the sequel, I think the only forced pairing that I saw here was Chouji and Karui... I don't ever remember them meeting. Ino and Sai was hinted at a couple times, so I'm not surprised by that either... even if I don't like it.

0/5

For me Naruto ends at 698...
With having Naruto and Hinata as a couple...
Since I liked a lot the character of Hinata :D

Even if I disliked a lot of things in the whole series...

7/10

Only for the great work he made on doing such a deep story about the Ninja...
But many characters are just stupid and a lot of their action are childish...
The story where a kid saves the world and changes everyone is awful but it can't be helped...
What I really liked are the fight and the stories of the Rinnegan, Sharingan, Sage etc...

Many people hate this manga because it's overhyped, but I really think that it was a good manga overall. It had all the shonen canvas and conveyed them with some intelligence.
The traditionnalistic aspect and the use of Shinto mythology is a plus for me.
Some of the fight really had brillant tactics.

The first season was better, way smoother, while the second a bit too sloppy at times, but neverthles it was still enjoyable.

Naruto was one of the first manga, I've read and I don't regret having started it.

NarutoXHinata (Thank God)
SasukeXSakura
ShikamaruXTemari (Interesting)
LeeXTenten (Interesting choice)
SaiXIno(Again, Thank God)
KibaXIDK (Don't know who she is...)
ChojiXThat one black chick for the from the Cloud Village? (Most random ship that I have EVER seen here)

I like that One Piece reference Boruto made on his father's monument.
All's well that ends well. I give this series a 10/10. It was flawed yes, IMO you can be flawed and have a very entertaining and amazing story at the same time.

I gotta say that adult Sasuke's hairstyle is ugly and ruins his entire character, might be the worst thing I've ever seen.

WTF is that on Boruto's head. Are you saying his head is an apple?
Shikadai is obviously Shikamaru's kid.

Wow. That kid is obviously Ino and Sai's kid. What an ugly combination. Sai's skin color with Ino's hair color is ugly AF. Plus, the eyes. Should have gave the kid Ino's skin color and just made him wear Sai's clothes.

Chouchou? That's clearly Chouji's kid, but the big issue here is WTF is up with her design? Who is the mother? Just by looking at Chouchou, I feel a familiarity due to the eye so it is probably someone we know. Kishi really told himself "Let me give Chouji a fat black kid to make everyone say WTF."

WTF! Is that Anko? No focking way! That is not my waifu! This is not the right future. 3 pages in and I'm already saying Kishimoto needs to redo this shit. Don't tell me Kishimoto is using the logo of woman in their 40's must be fat now.

So Naruto has two kids and the other is a girl. Bet that Hinata kid will be irrelevant AF thus making you wonder why Kishimoto gave Naruto 2 kids when only 1 is enough.

Rock Lee and his kid. lol Tenten owns a store. lol

Damn. Gaara lost all his spiky hair. Temari and Shikamaru got together. :)

Kiba got together with that cat girl. Sad as hell seeing Akamaru old as shit.

I knew that she would be Chouchou's mother, but how the hell did Chouji get with her. Need answers.

Asuma's daughter looking like Kurenai. Kurenai looking old as shit.

Damn. Guy looks like he aged while the same can't really be said for Kakashi.

Ohnoki on his deathbed. Mizukage got fat. Tsunade continues cheating death.

Dat laptop. Naruto really became Hokage. I like how Shikamaru looks like his dad.

Hold up. Is that Shizune? If so, why didn't you keep Anko the same, Kishimoto? You asshole. You ruined my waifu.

Boruto acting like Naruto once did. Of course Boruto would call Minato a geezer. Naruto doing fatherly things.

Iruka and Konohamaru. Sad seeing Iruka look that old.

Sakura is a mom? Who the hell is the father? Also, I see Kishimoto giving Sakura that Kushina hairstyle and reaction face. That is going to trigger certain people and they do have a reason to be triggered.

Sasuke is the father? Well, I do see the resemblance. It's strange. The kid reminds me of a Sasuke and Karin combination than a Sasuke and Sakura. Just saying. Kishimoto gave Sasuke a daughter? That's weird. Let me guess. Boruto and Sarada are going to get together. That must be the reason.

Sasuke looking like an Uchiha. Well, Madara-esque.

Oh shit! They have cities now. Been a long ass time since I read the Naruto one shot, but I think it had cities in it as well, so I guess Kishimoto added that here.

And that was the end of Naruto. Damn anime couldn't even adapt this chapter.

Reading this felt weird. The only character design I approve of is Shikadai. Everyone else looks weird or like shit.

Then there's Anko. You destroyed my vision of my waifu. Went from sexy fishnet woman to fat woman. You had me devastated like:

If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).

Naruto is the new Hokage, boring last chapter, especially since his kid is doing the same things he did.

700 chapters and finally done. I set here not entirely sure how I'd rate the series as a whole so I'm probably going to ramble on about my thoughts on it until I reach a decision but before that, this chapter wasn't very good. It clearly felt like an epilogue type chapter with 699 being the true "finale" so to speak, and it kinda works well as that. I wasn't that interested and I kinda forgot a lot of the stuff that happened and it was just a few days ago that I finished it. It's mostly just shipping, which I don't care about, and I knew most of these results from earlier. Sakura & Sasuke ended up together is gross.

But time for it as a whole. Or rather part 2, as a whole. Part 1 was a fairly solid shonen series that was really good at executing the emotional core of the protagonist and those he paralleled with like Gaara. I'd probably give that an 8, it was generally good stuff. The second half, and the far more lengthy portion of the series of course, is a lot more of a mixed bag.

You know, I convinced myself I was going to go and ramble on about my thoughts. About my disappointment in the use of the supporting cast (sans Shikamaru, honestly think he feels more like a main character than Sakura does, which is fine, Shikamaru is awesome), about how several of the plot-lines ended up (Kaguya for example, or how after getting caught Yamato's plot is told resolved in like six panels spread out across hundreds of chapters it feels like). But I think ultimately, if I'm going to spend my time ruminating on Naruto, I should just be concise and talk about it's central conflict, the one between Naruto & Sasuke.

Outside of just being spoiled of it, it was obvious that Sasuke was going to end up being redeemed. It was obvious Naruto was going to win him back, it was all throughout the manga's DNA that it was going to, hence the Talk no Jutsu. Which by the way, I like because to me Talk no Jutsu just translates to the series caring more about the characters than the action, which is where my interests typically lie anyway. Especially with the direction Part 2 took, I found a lot of the fights kinda boring here but that's neither here nor there. I'm a bit conflicted on the Sasuke arc because I want to love it.

The most frustrating thing about Sasuke's plot-line is how well it should gel with me. To copy what I wrote to a friend because I'm too lazy to reiterate my points, "I do like the direction Sasuke takes after joining the war and I do like, not necessarily the final fight, but the aftermath of the final fight. I think Kishimoto executed that moment really well, the use of the flashbacks and thoughts from Sasuke, the expressions, he drew that chapter really well and several moments were effective based on the drawing (like Sasuke's expression after Naruto said it hurt seeing Sasuke isolate himself again), and the final imagery of the lack of arm, and blood hand holding reinforcing their relationship was pretty strong too, and came as a shock when turning that page. I want to praise that but the thought running through my head was "I really wish this worked for me, I really wish the build-up matched" because like, this kinda ridiculously loyalty, saving someone trying to martyr themselves, is totally up my wheelhouse. But the two biggest problems is that I don't think what we saw of Naruto & Sasuke's relationship prior to his departure warranted the dedication that Naruto held for him (which granted, they did pin somewhat on Sakura making him promise), and I feel the stuff about their childhood probably should've been established prior to the arc where he was basically leaving. Like I really liked Gungrave which had a similar best friends turn enemy kinda thing to it but that worked a lot more for me because it did a much better job of establishing a strong bond between those two protagonists. Here, it just seemed like kinda your typical shonen rival relationship, until Sasuke decides he's going to run off to Oorochimaru, once that threat's established, we start getting deeper insight into what Sasuke means to Naruto, and while I think it connects fine to what we know about both of them, coming in at that point feels a bit forced. The other problem being Sasuke just going completely off the rails after finding out Itachi's backstory and deciding that everyone in Konoha needed to die. Like, if he didn't have that extreme drop, I think this could've really worked for me because in isolation, I do really like that conclusion chapter to their conflict, but as a whole, Sasuke was too all over the place."

The short version of that is if their relationship dynamic was a lot stronger earlier on/if got more time to absorb into it prior to the threat of Sasuke's departure and/or if Sasuke didn't nosedive into insanity against all inhabitants of Konoha, I think this plot line would've really worked for me because in a bubble I do think Kishimoto nailed the ending of their arc. Like, even Sasuke's reason for fighting Naruto after the whole Kaguya stuff, I thought that logically lined up with his character profile, revealed some essence of likability in the manner that he was trying to essentially martyr himself, and made it more plausible for him to be brought back. It's just, I can read that chapter and tell that if things were handled a little differently in the middle of the story or near the beginning, then this would've really worked on me. I could've loved this, instead I have a detached appreciation for the ending execution and a frustration at what the build was.

Anyway, I've been mulling between whether or not Naruto is a 6 or a 7 for me and ultimately I decided to go for a 7. It's close but ultimately I always lean more favourably. And there was still a lot of this series I really liked, even if the moments became fewer and fewer between in the final stretches. Also, just cause I never mentioned it anywhere else, one of my favourite moments of the past two hundred chapters, maybe my favourite, was Naruto's goodbye to Minato where he was answering everyone of Kushina's words from before she died. It was really sweet, their was a long space between them so it felt more touching revisiting it, and I think it's moments like that that Kishimoto really nailed.
