I guess http://myanimelist.net/anime/23725/, for example, is the same, while this wasn't screened at an event but in an actual theater as a pre-screening, it was later released as an OVA, which is about the same situation as here. |

Episodes related to other series that are screened at events are all specials, unless it's a proper theatrical release. That entry is a special, but can be an OVA too if we consider that event as a limited pre-screening. akarin-, Ichika Special is simply a collection of previews for episodes. It won't be added. Owari special is 16-seconds long. Can you even call it a special.... I hope it's not a cut from the series too. |

They're two different anime. #22401 was made in 1939 under the name 新・猿蟹合戦 #30017 was made in 1936 under the name 新猿蟹合戦 (yeah, just that dot difference) Both are works by Kenzou Masoka but #30017 was a joint production with Kumakawa Masao while the #22401 was just Kenzou himself. Suzume no Oyado was the only other anime Kenzou worked with Kumakawa on. |

They have the exact same release date, length and even each others names as synonyms and I couldn't find any hints that they were separate entities. It would have to be more than the release date that's wrong. There is a movie called 'Norakuro Nitouhei' without the training/drill arc added, and that's from 1935. It makes no sense that both entries would have each other as synonyms if they were separate entries, especially since training and drill are more or less the same in that context anyway. |

Like all the other anime without images, we just kinda gotta take a Japanese video historian's word for it. @Leknaat, The Norakuro Nitouhei in the queue is a completely different movie from the twin Nitouhei DB entries if that's what you were worried about. The queue one is a single continuous 11 min film with Norakuro being shitty at morning calisthenics, forced to clean the barracks as punishment, and then goes to hunt a tiger when the base get a warning message. It's not cut into two with separate title cards like the Kyouren/Enshuu track I had screencapped in that ooold post. Norakuro Ittouhei is similar (not a spelling error) but with a runaway hot air balloon and the base fighting against an ape warlord. No two chunks in this one either. Is there a Month + Day listed for the queue entries or just the same year? I can see the issue of trying to figure out of the Kyouren/Enshuu is one film with two parts or if they were two separate films shown back to back, like a double feature that so many modern kiddy anime movies do. |
