| If you change your pic to pic A and then after some minutes/hours you change it to pic B (without seeing pic A) then other people might be able to see pic A. It also seems to depend on your connection. When I'm at home and when I'm somewhere else, I often see different pics (like the old at home, the new at the other place or vice versa). |

| Ahh, at first i tried to change my profile picture, it didnt update up to now but apparently some people see it but anyways i uploaded another (after waiting for a week for the second picture to be uploaded), that makes it the third so yea i still see my first picture.. Good luck fixing this issue thats been here since 2009 lol. |

| I changed my picture nearly a week ago and it's not changed on the profile page. This isnt the bizarre part. When I post comments in my clubs, it's my new picture thats in place there but when I click to go back to my profile, it's still the old one. |

| It seems like I am having the same problem as some people. I completely remove my old profile picture, but when I go to upload a new picture it doesn't show any image at all. But then when I go back to my profile it shows my OLD image! Talk about a mind-messer-upper! Hope it works out. |

| Clear your cache. MAL is glitchy like that. From what I've understood, whoever owns the site doesnt care about it anymore so we are on our own mostly. =p |

| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Huh? I think almost all of us are experiencing this problem, and I belong to this. Well I got this problem awhile ago while I was updating my profile T_T... My profile picture wont change T_T ... And I got some weird bug that I think some of them experienced this. I uploaded my avatar and it works, but minutes later it came back to my old one?! *sigh* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Edit: I deleted my old avatar and old Profile Pic, then I checked them just to see if they're gone, so they're gone now.. And then I uploaded my new profile pic and avatar. Ok all done... but when I checked it... hhuuhh??? the old ones appeared again, my old avatar and profile pic just appeared again[but I deleted it!] :( Well Edit again: I guess I have the same case above me.. But I think there problems are fixed.. hheLp! T_T Im gonna cry ..... Well I just want to change my avatar and profile pic but ... -.-' |

| Why are profile pictures / avatars not changing or switching back? It's explained in this thread. While profile stats and signatures are updating pretty fast at the moment, pictures are still having update issues. To sum it up: There's a process that copies your new uploaded picture to the CDN servers that serve all of MAL's images. This updating process can take some minutes up to several days. If the new picture is not showing up please wait patiently. It will eventually change. What might help to see the new pictures faster: Avatar Upload the new avatar with a different file extension (old: .jpg - new: .png or vice versa). This should change your avatar instantly. If not, clear your cache. Please note: - This only works if you don't upload a new avatar every few days, otherwise there will still be issues with older versions. - Apparently this doesn't really work with .gif images. Profile Picture You can try all these methods. Method 1 Upload your new picture as .jpg Images that are uploaded as .png will be converted to .jpg anyway and this might delay the whole process. Method 2 Clear your cache. You don't necessarily need to clear everything, you can just go to your profile and use the key combination Ctrl + F5. This forces your browser to load the whole page again instead of using the cached version. Method 3 Open your profile picture in a new tab: - Right-click on the picture - Choose "Copy link location" - Paste this link into the new tab (The link should look like this: http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/userimages/12345.jpg) Then remove cdn. from this link and load the image without this. (The new link should then look like this: http://myanimelist.net/images/userimages/12345.jpg) This new link should show you your new profile picture. Then go back to your profile and refresh your profile (F5 or Ctrl+F5) Please give every method still some hours. If it doesn't work try it again later. There's no guarantee that it really helps. In the worst case you will have to wait (up to several days) until it changes. I use method 1+2 or 1+3 and my profile picture usually changes within 30 minutes. Please note: - The whole process is complex and if you see a new version is depending on your connection and sometimes even the browser. Don't ask me the details, I have no idea (but I guess in most cases it's just the cached image that prevents you from seeing the new pic). So even if you see your new profile picture, others might not. Or vice versa, others can see your new picture and you don't. But after some days everyone will see the new picture. - The profile pic shown as big version on your profile and the small version in comments are different (compare the link location). So it often happens that one shows the new pic and the other doesn't. You can use method 3 for the small pic as well. And no, you can't have animated gifs as profile picture. As I already said, uploaded images are converted to .jpg always. |
