That part when haru was about to swim and the guy next to him was all like "Hey mate, HOws IT GOIN" WHO SAYS THAT?

*Sigh* oh well it's to be expected (great episode full of rinharu moments btw)

It was really interesting seeing Australia in anime form and recognising all these landmarks lol. The Australian accents were pretty good but it felt like they were trying to squeeze as much stereotypical aussie slang xD I felt like Haru's revelation was a bit sudden due to the build up in the last few episodes but still, the wing metaphor was a nice touch to add substance into this special moment. Like others have said, it did feel a little empty without the others but it was a good for Haru and Rin to spend some *quality* time together since their interactions were usually quite brief throughout the season. Looking forward to the last ep. It's been a fun ride!

Luv this ep

One of them could have totally slept on the floor, but they decided to share...wink
(but it logically makes sense too since they probably didn't bring covers or anything to cover the floor, and who knows how dirty the floor is)

Lori's talking...wink

Rin's 'admiration' for Haru...brought up so much to the point of being a bit excessive...wink

wink wink wink ty Kyoani for all the fanservice

This episode didn't show Haru swimming w/ the national swimmers, and that may have helped him realize his dream too (so it may seem cut off, but it just wasn't in the episode)...imo realizing a dream can be quick sometimes, especially for some (since it just feels right...probably it did to Haru...also since he's so addicted to free)

Haru didn't seem out of character...after all he did get into his 'first fight', which was why he might have acted unusual (not having brought trunks, not wanting to swim in sea)

LET ALL THE FANFICTION/FANART COMMENCE

Pretty decent English! Really shows production and director's quality when they get native speakers. :3
Love the conversations, when Russel asks if Rin has a girlfriend and Rin's reply to hot weather. Hahaha.

And little Rin's Engrish. <3

The lady at reception was kind of rude though.

I'm pretty sure they did. That would in fact explain a shift in Haru's mind. I'm serious.

But this is the part that's probably going to make many people angry, and the thing I really wanted to say about this episode is that I was a little bit disappointed. Was just standing on a starting block that key to Haru being able to find his dream? Even though it's certainly possible, judging by how much he struggled over his dream, I just have my doubts about this. This is probably due in part to standing on the starting block, surrounded by a hypothetical crowd, is a scenario that we see caused Haru great amounts of stress and terror. So why did it work for him this time? I'm a little let down by how fast and easily he found his dream. It just seemed...fake to me. The very scene that caused him pain also caused him to find himself? Even though there were two episodes left before this aired, I wish this had been better planned out. I expected some deep soul-searching, some true consideration of what he swims for, the value of what his friends mean to him. But in this episode, he stood on a starting block, completely uninvolved with friends, or any really deep thoughts, surrounded by his mind's image of something that terrified him, and...somehow, he found his dream?

This all started way before him standing on that starting block. Actually, if you watch closely the whole series, Haru has always had the drive that Rin is talking about and there have been hints everywhere that he was going to swim professionally eventually. The fact that they always show his eyes light up when someone would mention going pro, or when he watched Rin swim. His biggest fear was never swimming pro itself, but of the uncertain future and of moving on and going forward. When everyone talked to him about it, all the pressure and his anxiety crushed him and he began to become depressed and angry. He was actually caging himself in. He was at the point that water brought him anxiety and he no longer enjoyed swimming. As Makoto says, he wasn't fine, he was actually becoming worse the more they let him alone.

Rin took another approach than simply trying to give Haru advice. He apologized and then told Haru about how he had felt the same things that Haru had when he suddenly entered a new world. By taking him to Australia, he let Haru experience his greatest fear, which was leaving his comfort zone and facing a new world and new future, and allowing him to find out that what he was worrying about was nothing really to be afraid of. And then finally, he challenged him and gave HIM the choice. He offers the recreational pool to Haru, but he also points out the path forward that says he can swim on the same level as a professional team. Would he swim with the best, or would he back out? And it's Haru that makes that very first step forward. This time with no pressure and with his fear of the future assuaged by Rin's words, his "vision" of professional swimming is now in a completely different light than it was back in episode 9. Now, he's able to stand on that starting block and not feel as if it's the end of the world. And then the words of the Australian swimmer seal the deal. They are not words of sterile and caging competition, but one of simply a swimmer who enjoys the sport just like Haru and asks him to come join him.

What's good about Rin is how patient and understanding he was of Haru, rather than his usually confrontational self. He had to know how bad Haru was simply from the fact the boy never wanted to go into the water, or that he had actually FORGOTTEN his swimsuit. However, he didn't make a big deal about it and just treated it like it was normal. Rin has ALWAYS believed that Haru would go into professional swimming, he just had to help Haru get over his fears of the unknown.

Well, I didn't think they were that bad. But according to the credits, they outsourced to America for the Aussie voices in this episode. So, they're Americans doing Australian accents. But at least it's better than barely passable Engrish right? :p

Wow, I think I've watched so much anime that I understand Japanese now.
Oh wait...

In all seriousness, the Australian-accented English dub for those foreigners exceeded my expectations. Though for some reason my eyes were still glued to the English subtitles.

The flashback of Rin's time in Australia hit very close to home for me.
I remember when I first moved to Canada and how difficult it was for me to speak the language as well as making friends.

I absolutely LOVED this episode. It was really cute to see Haru totally lost and out of his element being unable to speak English, and I was excited to hear Rin speaking English as well. Um... I'm not Australian, but the Aussie voices were pretty rad to me. I'm glad they were at least very clear English. I expected something different! Also, the RinHaru of it all was excellently executed omg. Lori gushing about Rin gushing about Haru I can't even.

Despite this episode's cuteness, I'm DREADING next week. Honestly, I might cry. Eternal Summer has totally surpassed my expectations.

So much English!

This episode and its perfect OSTs playing at the right moments. Amazing as always.

Glad they had a background story of how Rin dealt with his first time in Australia.
Haru having a huge change of heart as well.

The next episode preview almost had me in tears. Each main character saying a line and then simultaneously saying the title... of the last... episode...

At the beginning of the episode, Haru looks so lost and confused... Priceless. Finally more emotions on his ever stoic face! Must applaud Rin.

Nagisa: "I hope Haru-chan will come back feeling better."
Me: "I hope Haru-chan will come back ._."
Haru: "And drop the '-chan' already!"
(sorry, I've been reading too much fanfiction lately)

Australia... Oh, my feels... Oh, my tears... I'm choking on them. But finally Haru knows what he wants to do. I guess, he truly needed a real challenge. I wonder if he'll come to Australia too, or Mako, Haru and Rin will go in three different directions? Kind of sad when you think about it, but it imitates life...

As each episode passes this show continues to draw me in more and more. An absolutely beautiful episode in an equally gorgeous land. I nearly teared up when Rin and Haru were eating dinner with Rin's live in parents. Thinking about the warmth they provided him when he lost his father and how much he's grown in these two seasons was breath taking. That bed scene was gold, both the comedic aspect as well as Haru and Rin's bonding moment. This has been a spectacular journey to seeing Haru find his way and I'm going to sincerely miss this after next week.

Very different from the previous episodes. Actually, I didn't like how Haru just suddenly had a change of heart. Um, at least show us a reason why he wants to swim again?
When Haru was standing in front of the pool and envisioned competing there, it alluded to how he felt the ultimate sensation of freedom, with his arms serving as wings to let him soar through the water before him.

Haru was persuaded a little bit too easily, but meh.

How would Australians know that Haruka and Rin are supposed to be girls' names? (referring to the hotel scene)

Man, this episode was so enjoyable and really heartwarming. Rin and Haru visit Australia~ I'm actually really surprised that the Australian characters spoke fluent English though even with Australian accents. Sure they sounded pretty stereotypical but how else were they gonna represent Australia? I'd say KyoAni did a good job with that. Rin's Engrish was actually pretty good haha. Rin's life in Australia sure was tough but he has now become who is today because of being in Australia. So glad to see Haru finally smiling when he was at the Aquatic Centre. Haru, go swim FREE!! ;) And lmao, sleeping in a single bed together. Oic what you did thar.

The highlight of that episode was Rin's Engrish, Haru's confusion over all the people speaking English, and this:

That episode made no sense...after /all/ of Haru's anxiety about feeling pressured to perform, he just looks at an /empty/ international pool and every bit of anxiety went and he found his dream which is to be a pro swimmer...NO. I CALL BULLCRAP. It was too easy.

As an Australian the English in this episode made me laugh so hard, they really tried hard to fit in as much Aussie slang in there as possible, but the accents were pretty off XD They weren't as bad as I expected but I doubt any of the English actors were actually Australian.

(Also Mamo's English was actually pretty good, not amazing in any sense, but I love hearing Mamo speak in foreign languages anyway.)

I'm pretty conflicted over this episode. I LOVED seeing more of Rin and Haru's interaction which has been really desperately missing in this season, but I felt like the ending was solved a bit too easily. I get that this has been a slow build for Haru, and he just needed that final push to find his dream which Rin provided by taking him out of Japan.... but I feel like the end of the episode just lacked a little bit of oomph at the end. If you compare it to the second last ep of the first season, it really feels a bit lackluster.

I'll reserve my full judgement of this ep until next week though, cause maybe it'll put this one in a bit more context.

Hello I'm new here but I wanted to post because I was a student in Sydney and lived there with my Aussie boyfriend. Here are some of the unbiased facts that he said after I asked him to watch this episode. He also knows a little about BL and Free! since he was also an exchange student in Japan. Note, he was typing these comments whilst watching it:

1. Is this some BL thing? Porno-music- hurried looks -where you taking me? visa Rorts? And they captured syd airport haha

2. Also his name is a chick's.

3. Why would you just hang out in Hyde Park? (fountains) Are they homeless or something? And is he 'with' Rin? Rin means (insert kanji) which means frigid.

4. (About Rin) The English is so realistic - like that's how the exchange students talk. haha!

5. Isn't Haruka paired with the green eyed guy? Not anymore I guess.

6. Also there was a reference to Sydney's gay scene when Haru said "This sort of thing is more common here" (Hotel, one bed scene)

7. They were able to capture Australian service culture haha.

8. Creators really went to Sydney. They were able to even capture the middle class housing.

9. Boys don't talk like that by the fountain or openly confess about how difficult their childhood was or how they admire someone in bed. This is how you get chicks in bed rather.

10. Or this is how you talk to someone you're really in love with where you share parts of yourself and you give yourself so much vulnerability.

11. The men were able to capture the Aussie accent but not the wife. The hotel lobby chick captured everything perfectly--aus industry in a nutshell

super frustrated that i loved big chunks of this episode and how we got to see a bit of haru and rin actually being friends like they keep telling us they are and yet never show on screen (i mean the non-swimming part of their friendship). it was also nice to see what happened in austrailia and that rin didn't just suffer in gloom and doom. that he had a nice family that cared for him.

and yet i hate that it happened at this point in the show and the end.

it seems if you like shipping and only take care of the fanservice thrown at you you loved the ep. and while i'm by no means knocking people for doing it i can't help but wonder if you don't feel like they just threw cliche things at you so you can ignore how creepy rin was being sometimes, imo

haru spent the whole damn season being a lil bitch to everyone around him for even suggesting he continue swimming at a higher level outside of high school and for forcing their dreams on him. to then go and want to continue swimming at a higher level outside of high school and accept someone elses dream as his own. what?

plus, this whole ep felt like the tone of it would've been better suited for after the big fight between them in ep 9. why was rin's flashbacks relevant now?

why am i watching his flashbacks when iwatobi team is falling apart and haru is fleeing the damn country just cause he's emotionally messed up that makoto and him fought?

basic folks keep trying to push this idea that he found his dream cause he saw it, saw he could be happy swimming competitively, etc. but the fact is that is something haru is well aware of. he's already learned this lesson many times over. last season he found he could be happy swimming. high speed 2 he found he could be happy wanting to swim to win with a whole new team.

they spent zero time developing haru's supposed change from "i only swim free, and now relay" to "hey this thing i had a full on mental breakdown over in the middle of a race. turns out when i see some blonde dude dive into a pool i wanna so that too"

i guess if you only look at the show for shipping it was a great ep. but as far as characters go and the pacing and flow of the story this was a bleh ep that rushed the conclusion of the main character's season conflict

to the point that now i hope makoto, nagisa, and rei finish the relay and then drop haru. i hope makoto boards a train to tokyo and they never speak again. haru can go be a water bird or whatever the hell that was about and cry his tears in hell cause he's a crap friend and a crap teammate.

haru can go swim for rin or whatever the hell the writers wanted me to get out of this episode and when stuff gets rough he can tough it out by himself since this haru obviously doesn't give two farts about his team or his supposed best friend.

basically f**k haru at this point

LOVED THIS EPISODE SO MUCH!! IT WAS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN WHAT I EXPECTED!!
as RinHaru shipper I was happy with each moment of this episode, RinHaru alone in Australia! alone in walking all over around! alone in talking! alone in hotel!! alone in BED!!!!!!!!!! AND... BED TALKING!!!!!!!!!!!! *BOMB* CAN'T ASKING FOR MORE!!!!!!!
ok, enough with this fangirl taking xD

talking about the ep:
I liked the ost which was playing a the begging of the episode <3

Haru is having a glum face at the passport (though he was still kid) and in the real one xDDD

I love how stylish Rin is always <3
OMG he's so beautiful and sexy with every little move he makes *q*

the sightseeing in the episode make me want to visit Australia! x3
and I think I'm gonna be so happy as fan of free! if I was Australian! xD

I loved how Rin was translate everything to Haru
Haru can at least introduces himself in english xD *cute*

when Haru couldn't see Rin around.. sure it so frightful lost in a country where he can't even speak its language ><

I wished to see Rin and Haru swimming in the ocean x3

I loved the part when Haru tell that it was his first fight with Makoto <3 *cute*

Rin is a person with more experience so it was so good of him to talk about them with Haru =)

Rin sure is strong with determination to being able in staying in foreign country in that age and without acquaintance!

so Rin's homestay parents are saying that Rin used to talk about Haru! *kyaaaaaaaaaaaa*
loved the family dinner table part <3
and those parents are really so kind and took good care of Rin =)

Rin and Haru are always like little kids when it comes to "who's fault" and goes as:
Rin: "your fault"
Haru: "your fault"
Rin: "your fault"
Haru: "your fault”
xDDD

WHAT?? HARU DIDN'T BRING HIS SWIMSUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE BIGGEST TWISTED IN THE PLOT!!! XDDDD

for Haru to tend to swim beside the national team wasn’t weird ‘cause if you do remember when Rin once said to Haru "you think no once can beat you in the water, don’t you?” seems that Haru think so!

and for being a pro swimmer is a new step to Haru, and Haru don't like changes besides he's stubborn
here some examples:
- remember years ago when Makoto asked Haru to join iwatobi swimming club Haru refused at first but he joined it later with Makoto
- remember years ago how Haru refused swimming in relay when Rin was tying hard to convince him but he did it later with Rin, Makoto and Nagisa
so his acting in this case of being a pro swimmer wasn't much different except there were lot of pressures
so after all what happened with him once Haru stepped on the real stander (not on the nightmare ones) all of his anxious from this new step and fear from unknow have vanished and he felt so free!
beside I think him being with Rin helped a lot, since it seem that Haru don’t like being away from the people he treasure

Rin said “his world has kept expanding since he met Haru"
but in fact, Rin did the same thing to Haru
Rin is the one who convinced Haru to swim relay with him years ago and he’s the one who also convinced him to be a pro swimmer with him now as well
from the start I knew that Rin and Haru meant to each other,
Rin will alway admire Haru, and Haru will always follow Rin
end of the story <3

think the "two birds flying” at the end resemble RinHaru <3

I think it's more like he didn't like to be pushed. I'm like that myself. I hate when someone tells me what to do, even if what they tell me to do is actually what I want to do. I'm stubborn as f*ck. That's why, I think he needed the time away. And Rin didn't push him here. He gave him a choice: go back or step forward. That was the turning point in finding his dream. It was his choice and not the pestering of everyone around him. I can identify with him so much that it hurts.

I think Haru is an Asperger case. He doesn't really show emotions, and bottles everything inside (again, me.). I mean, remember that photo after they won the relay when they were kids: everyone was smiling except him. That doesn't mean that he doesn't care. He's just... different. And his friends know that and accept him the way he is. All this thing escalated to this level, because they graduate soon, and choices need to be made ASAP.

they (iwatobis) all literally told haru point blank, that he could be whatever he wanted. nagisa told him he was talented in a bunch of things not just swimming, rei told him being true to himself is the best way to be free, makoto told he just wanted him to find a dream period and be happy. he even said outright that if staying the way things were really and truly was what haru wanted he wouldn't have said a word and respected his choice. yet all that support was either brushed off or avoided. makoto got screamed at and pushed for basically saying "haru the wold is yours so go find what you want to do"

haru always had a choice so that is bull. i'm not gonna comment on you projecting your personal issues on to haru because honestly they are irrelevant.

rin pushing his hopes and dreams and telling haru flat out that he needs him to be a swimmer so he can use him to judge how good he is is pressure. pushing the idea of swimming competitively even after haru screamed at him and fled the damn country to get away from things is pressure. dumping his sob story on haru and continuing to push this "dream" at him is pressure. keeping at the same damn topic that haru has been saying no to for months is pressure.

I mean, remember that photo after they won the relay when they were kids: everyone was smiling except him. That doesn't mean that he doesn't care. He's just... different. And his friends know that and accept him the way he is. All this thing escalated to this level, because they graduate soon, and choices need to be made ASAP.
[/quote]

you pushing your headcanon on of asperger is again irrelevant.

haru is not some fragile bird. he expresses his emotions just fine but like most people stumbles a bit with new things. he is more than willing to show affection, praise, scold, show care and concern, anger, etc.

haru is not the only person who is a third year but he was too busy being a selfish self absorbed tool to even ask makoto once what he wanted to do in the future. not once. makoto spent this whole season going through the stress of having to make these big choices all by himself because haru was too busy avoiding him for reasons that don't even matter now because he's doing the thing anyway. he screamed at him and called him names for doing nothing other than showing concern. makoto is leaving his comfort zone and had no one to talk to because the person that should have been there for him didn't give a sh*t about him.

gou, nagisa and rei are both about to be third years. they about to be solely responsible for the swimclub that has no new members and could be shut down because of it. nagisa is on probation due to his crappy grades and is one failing grade from being taken out of the club. rei was struggling to learn to swim and dealing with feeling like the weak link.

all of them have stress. yet everyone else seemed to reach out and accept help and not be a**holes to their friends save haruka.

the teams times were suffering, the team is not performing well, haru is screaming at people, it's right before nationals so he thinks his emotions are more important than the team and leaves for another country. way to go vice captain. way to put the team first and reach out to the people who have done nothing but pull your soggy ass out the pool for months now.

he has time to eat food and mope in australia but he doesn't have time to try and fix his team. but next ep they are all happy to see him cause they are used to him only caring about himself. so glad that all of them are splitting up cause none of them deserve to have to put up with that.

Haruka was so dead set on not being a professional swimmer and now after 1 small moment he did a complete 180. Not too sure about that.

This was the best episode of the entire series.

The BGM during this episode in particular was incredible. I love you Katou

This is a pretty good episode.. but the english is a bit weird. Rin's background and his admiration for haru, didn't he already mentioned it in season 1? I feel Haru's revelation is a bit rushed.
I'm sure when he come back from Aussie, his friends will just welcome him happily again and we'll never see haru's apology that they deserve

on a lighter note, I find the beach scene to be quite funny, haru and rin like 2 gf, hang out n talking 'bout their boyfriend

rin: Did you and makoto have a fight or something? *did you and your bf have a fight?*
haru: *flinch
rin: Bingo, It's just one little fight, me & sousuke fight all the time *It's just one little fight, me & my bf fight all the time*
haru: It was my first fight *It was our 1st fight*
*run from Rinharu fans*

yeah..I don't get the hotel scene but instead laughing at this scene :D

they (iwatobis) all literally told haru point blank, that he could be whatever he wanted. nagisa told him he was talented in a bunch of things not just swimming, rei told him being true to himself is the best way to be free, makoto told he just wanted him to find a dream period and be happy. he even said outright that if staying the way things were really and truly was what haru wanted he wouldn't have said a word and respected his choice. yet all that support was either brushed off or avoided. makoto got screamed at and pushed for basically saying "haru the wold is yours so go find what you want to do"

haru is not the only person who is a third year but he was too busy being a selfish self absorbed tool to even ask makoto once what he wanted to do in the future. not once. makoto spent this whole season going through the stress of having to make these big choices all by himself because haru was too busy avoiding him for reasons that don't even matter now because he's doing the thing anyway. he screamed at him and called him names for doing nothing other than showing concern. makoto is leaving his comfort zone and had no one to talk to because the person that should have been there for him didn't give a sh*t about him.

Masterful episode. Probably the best in this season so far, with a few other ones worth mentioning as well. Actually, everything this season has been amazing honestly. I'm tempted to bump up my rating even higher than an 8.

I liked that Haru found his resolve. I need to find mine. :|

We need more sports anime in this style, big focus on interpersonal relationships, SOL feel with drama. More.

Whoa, slow down there with the attack. I never pushed anything. I wrote everywhere that "I THINK" this is what is happening. The one who is pushing anything is you. Really, you must be part of the production team, to know so damn sure what exactly is happening and what Haru is supposed to be feeling. And of course I try to understand a character by using my own experince. How else are you supposed to judge a character? I use what I know, and take note of what I don't. Sorry, english is not my first language (and not my second, but who cares), maybe I don't know how to, then pray tell me, how else am I supposed to voice my OPPINION without hurting your (or anyone else's) sensitive feelings?

Asperger? Yeah, maybe, why not? Why so against the idea? It's not my headcanon. I didn't push the idea. It was the first time I voiced it. And I was not the first one to do it. So obviously I'm not the first to notice some things that are different about him. Let's see: Difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication? Check! Lack inborn social skills? Check! Restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests (taking the same route always, doing the same things, eating the same thing all day everyday)? Check! Appear to lack empathy? Check! Have a formal style of speaking? (someone said that he is like the wise voice in the group) Check! Avoid eye contact? Check! Be preoccupied with only one or few interests? Check! Unusual preoccupations or rituals (come on, he wears swiming trunks instead of underwear)? Check! Skilled or talented (drawing and sculpting, beside swimming)? Check!
He could very well be an aspie, alright! Was that the intention of the creators? Who knows! The creators put him there for a reason. They could have very well made four sweeties like Makoto, and we would have a very boring show. I don't know if the creators wanted to show us that different people need different aproaches. And I don't know if they wanted to show specifically an asperger case. But if they did, then they failed, because people see Haru as a braty bitch before a kid with psychological and emotional struglles.

Someone else also picked something about abandonment issues? Well, that's adding insult to injury then.

I'm not saying that he's the best character and is not his fault for what is happening. I'm just saying that he IS different, and reacts differently to the same situations. That has been thrown to us from the first season. That's why I'm judging him differently. Before concluding that he is a jerk, I want to try to understand why he acts the way he is. Anyway, considering that he's been like that his whole life, I think his friends already know that he won't act and react the same way as they do.
Haru is bad? Let's talk about the rest of them, shall we? I can somewhat understand Haru, because I can somewhat identify with him (I emphasize. Somewhat.). I can't understand Mako's desire to please everyone, and completely forget about himself. I can understand Rei's insecurities, but I can't understand his obssesion with "beautiful", while choosing butterfly swimming gear and butterfly pijamas and his obssesion with theories and calculation where is not the place for them. I can't understand Nagisa's bublly all-time-cheerful personality (actually, most of the time, that's damn annoying) and lack of understanding of personal space. The whole first season, Rin had a stick up his ass, for no apparent reason, to the point of not really talking to his own sister. Gou's obssesion with muscles, to the point of including that in that school presentation, probably had driven new members away. Souske had bulied Haru from the moment he appeared on the scene and had lied to everyone about being scouted and about the injury.

If you remember, Haru always said that he doesn't swim for winning or for time. But because he swims so well, everyone assumed he would go for that when he was not ready. Everyone was pushing him: Ama-chan, his old couch, his teachers, scouts, school principal, reporters, students from other school clubs, members from other teams and his friends.
Nagisa: "Before we swim at nationals, there's something we want to say. Because I get the feeling we can't swim as a real team there unless we do."
Rei: "Haruka-senpai... Both Nagisa-kun and I have admired your swimming for a long time. Watching the way you swim so free and unbound by anything, I found myself wishing I could swim that way, as well. But now that you're no longer able to swim freestyle, your swimming just isn't like you anymore. We want you to swim in front of the whole world, so that more and more people can see your swimming. And then, if more and more people were able to see your swimming and be moved like us, and wish they could swim like you too... I couldn't imagine anything more wonderful."
Mako: "Haru... I don't think you can go on this way, either."
Come on, you don't put the weight of the whole world on someone who just had a breakdown!
Yes, Rin also tried to guilt trip him. But he said somewhere before that he has found his dream, and he's not gonna swim for anyone else, not even for his father's dream, but for himself. I still don't like what he did here, with the words and story. What I did like, is him taking Haru out of the same scenery, away from the same people. I liked Rin showing Haru that there is more than Iwatobi, that there is more than Japan. Because it seemed that he couldn't see past that (what he said in the first season there? "About three years until I'm ordinary. I can't wait to be ordinary"). And he already kind of was the best there. What's there more to it? Of course he always had a choice. Everyone there has one (except poor Souske). Did he see that he has a choice? I don't know. Everyone wants something from him. Does he want the same thing? I still don't know.

And no. Mako didn't say that he can do whatever he wants, even stay the same. It was Haru who said that he wants to stay the same. And Mako said that he doesn't. Again, implying that he knows Haru better than Haru knows himself. An it might be true (it probably is), but that's not a way to tackle this problem with some people. Looks like things pilled up, and he snapped (I would too. Yeah, self insertion. So what?). In Australia he had time and (partial) silence to acknoledge what he wants, before everything is breaking apart even more. And I actually do think that Haru is fragile. More so than others. And you need to understand that not everyone is able to reach for help (fine ex. being depression). People are different. And (again, IMO, before you jump at me again), he needs to fix himself, before he tries to fix his team. Time in Austraila, breaking away from the routine and therefore his comfort zone, away from it all, might just be the cure for that. I guess we'll see in the last episode.

The fact that the team is breaking is not only his fault. Is everyone's. Especially Mako's. As much as I love Mako (he's so sweet, I would wrap him up and take him home), he is weak. He is not a leader. He listens to everyone, does what everyone wants of him, except what he wants himself. What happened to that episode, where everyone watching thought that he is gonna become a couch to teach little kids to swim? No, Mako is not a good captain. And actually, out of all of them, none would be. Mako is weak. Haru is detached. Rei is insecure. Nagisa is childish. Actually, I'm surprised the've gone this far. And Rin is iresponsible (letting Souske swim, when that might cause permanent damage to his shoulder). Souske is stupid, not taking care of himself, when he knows how serious that injury is, to just blindly follow Rin.
But hey, they're kids. And the bigest problem they all have, is proper comunication. But that's a problem for all animes. That the source for all misunderstandings and therefore, angst and drama.

And yes, if he doesn't say sorry to everyone, I'm gonna be mad.

Damn, this is definetly tl,dr.

The accents sounds faker as they continue to speak, or maybe they're not native speakers I guess. Russel was decent tho. I think the KuroBas's "americans" would fit much better.

p. disappointed no Rei, but at least theres Rin

This was a refreshing episode as we see Rin and Haruka connect. I found Rin's past somewhat interesting since he had a bit of trouble at school.

Australia seems like an interesting place. I want to go there someday :o
