Togusa did make a glaring mistake, unfortunately, the events of this episode wouldn't have occurred otherwise.

The Major totally hacked Togusa. That was my favorite part of this episode, I love her pragmatism.

That's not how a court of law works, especially in Japan.

That may be true, but this is a future where the court of law is even less about justice than it is today. That's not to say this episode was realistic, I'm just saying.

Togusa is only real good guy in Section 9, he is still trying to serve "old justice", which doesn't exist anymore...

Why did he join Section 9 anyway? I think reason haven't been told, not sure about manga, his past is anyway (like everyone in Section 9, I know just that Major got full cyborg in age of 6, if that is even true...) in darkness.

Edit: WAIT DID MAJOR HACKED HIM DURING TRIAL? I just saw her closed her eyes in one moment, this was it? Or speech about justice?

Actually the rest of gits episodes aren't better than this episode, from that point of view. They're full of political and strategic blabbering. Nicely crafted, indeed, but still blabberig.

Real life is similar to GITS political atmosphere. Except replace Gohda with (let's say) Rothschilds family, replace Gohda missinformation and information manipulation with Soros CNN fake news, etc.

The situation is dire and corrupt AF. Maybe it is healthier for you to keep thinking this is just "fiction" and real life is something where everything is ok and where politicians are honest and want the best interest of their people.

I thought the ending scene was disgusting, and felt out of character for the series. It was just too ironic, considering how they were complaining about the loss of justice in the courts.

Well, unlike many people here apparently (complaining about the animation, Togusa or the judgment itself, these were all pretty good to me), I really enjoyed this episode, just like every other in this anime

Of course the lawyer was annoying as hell, just like basically any lawyer in fictions (except Saul of course)

Liked the end too, they got what they deserved

Togusa is screwing up a lot lately, first the two victims after his investigation the other day, then the last suicide bombing incident which could've gone wrong too if it weren't for Batou and now this. I still like his sense of justice and how human he is.

Something the other section 9 members apaprently lack. Nobody died during the "accident", but it was still pretty nasty. Whether the lawyer and the defendant deserved it or not shouldn't really matter.

It's not really revealed whether the lawyer and the killer died in the "accident", but it's still awful lol. Basically an attempt at extrajudicial execution by a formally non-existent police force. No good guys here.

By the way, were it Jamesons sitting in court as jurors?

Man, that lawyer is one despicable rat. Maybe Togusa should have a body camera for events like that.

Does anyone know the name of the tense music that plays about halfway through the episode during the court scene?

Tougsa is a realistic person who hopes for justice more. I liked his character more. The ending scene and the explosion in a situation similar to gang actions was good and appropriate. Those who do not value justice should not enjoy luxury.

I loved the episode

Togusa really got set up in this episode. Quite the nasty scheme by Gouda and that paid off lawyer. I wasn't expecting section 9's "divine retribution" at the end there! Rare Boma pop off. But it goes to show how Togusa is the heart of the team.
