Interesting! This arc not only introduced the third warlord to the crew but now a fourth?! If the crew meets the other one that was introduced alongside Kuma then we'll have all of the known warlords of the sea known by the viewer introduced to the crew. That's cool! When Kuma appeared I couldn't stop myself from freaking out! It was totally unexpected. The way he asked for Moria makes me think he had no idea that the Straw Hats were here and is actually here due to some internal warlord conflict which is really cool. Just as the arc was becoming simple with few enemies remaining, Kuma is here to throw in another wildcard to the plot! Interesting!!!! I wonder if he'll see Luffy and Moria fighting and let them duke it out and acknowledge Luffy's strength, or if he'll take out Moria himself as Luffy is chasing his shadow and that will then urge the final fight to be Luffy vs Oars, if the crew doesn't end up taking Oars out that is.
I loved the Straw Hat transformation sequence. It was hysterical and it was a reminder that Franky is one of the crew that can have a blast with no shame kinda like Luffy can! It was funny because of the way it was not portrayed to be cool at all. Franky had his shirt pulled up to make him the body and allow Chopper to be the head, Usopp's wiggly body made for an awful arm, and Zoro and Sanji's faces as they realized what they'd been tricked into had me crying tears of laughter. Only to be topped off with Robin refusing to be so childish and a beautiful canonical Zoro blush. Darn!! That was such a good scene.
It was especially funny to me because I was shocked that they didn't discuss plans for taking him out off screen(which I think they ended up proving they did with that great teamwork) so for Franky to yell so confidently to grab his feet I expected that to be the plan they made.
Seems Brook is trying to get some salt so they can force feed it to Oars when he's weakened and knocked on his butt! Interestingly I like how Brook confirmed he doesn't have a tongue and therefore he cannot taste. It only goes further to prove my point that he doesn't need to eat and cannot even taste and yet he still ate dinner with the Straw Hats after Luffy asked him to join their crew purely because he wanted to spend time with real people after being isolated for so long and wanted to go through the motions he did so long ago. ^_^
The attack itself that knocked Oars down was pretty great! We nearly never see teamwork like this so for everyone to come together and work as one unit, all showcasing their unique strengths, it was awesome. I particularly liked how Zoro told Sanji that it's okay if he can't launch him to fire him up, those two are so cute, and when Franky and Chopper did the same attack Chopper tried earlier but failed together! Big and little bro! Aniki helped him out this time!!! It was so cute!!!!
Perona is interesting in how she's abandoning Moria. She was already showed to be the newest member of the phantoms so it makes sense her allegiances would be the weakest. I like how similar she is to Nami in how her first instinct was to bail and take all the resources and treasure with her. Earlier they were contrasted with Nami heading to the treasury as Perona headed to the Sunny's treasury. She's not as dynamic or morally complex as Bon Clay so far but she's certainly showing to be an interesting character outside of battle with her personality.
P.S. It looks like Nami interrogated those squirrels to find out who took the treasure, hm. >:) |
