How to not feel highly uncomfortable when reading/listening someone say "animes" or using english titles?

Sounds like you actually have no real-life problems or struggles, which results in you having no mental fortitude and being bothered by benign things you described in your post. Try facing adversity and struggling to do something in real life and over time you'll stop caring about petty and insignificant things like someone saying "animes" instead of "anime".

I promise, none of the things you worry about are ever that deep ;-; how 'bout you keep saying your titles in Japanese, and those who prefer them in English, will keep saying them in English. They have to use the English titles because there's a chance readers won't recognize the Japanese titles. Everyone watching a show in English knows what that show is called in English. Why should audiences learn 2 names for the same show?

Go take that up with translators. They're the ones who pick the names everyone will use.

But if you seriously plan to harass translators, I gotta tell you I do not respect foreigners who think they speak better English than us natives. Stay in your lane and whine about your own language's translations; I'm sure they have no shortage of flaws.

I notice what it is called, in Japanese.

I get it that you have a preference of saying it one way over the other, there's nothing wrong with that, it's just that "do whatever you want" is what it all boils down to in the end. Realistically, you have no influence over the language the other person will use when referring to an anime title and there's no way around it. This means that by allowing yourself (because this is purely a matter of choice) to feel any distress over it, you're only hurting yourself. You don't want to do this to yourself. So if you actually want advice; maybe viewing this more as self-care, something you choose to slowly learn to let go of for your own peace of mind and your own freedom, could very slowly help. Because right now essentially what you're doing is you're letting other people's choice of words (which don't even have any malicious intent behind them) influence the way you feel, and that's weak people behavior.

I'm sure there are plenty of interests/hobbies/niches you and I don't know much about and we'd likely make such newbie mistakes ourselves if we were to try and get into it. People make mistakes and yeah sometimes they are embarrassing and sometimes we look like idiots. I'm sure those people will be grateful if you correct them and won't make that mistake again, and if not, then it's their choice which you have no control over and you should deal with them the same way I advised you to deal with the previous issue.

I didn't ask how you know the Japanese title. Obviously you looked it up. I want to know how you're NOT aware of the terminology used in the version you watched. If I can't trust you to remember something as basic as the title, how can I trust you to remember anything about the story?

You make it sound like some sort of conspiracy, as if English titles are chosen to make the viewing experience more complicated for everyone. A show translated into English will use its English title in the show itself, but it seems you haven't been paying attention. It would make no sense for sites like ANN to invent English titles different from the ones used within the show, as that actually would require learning twice as many names.

People who upload torrents don't always use the same names everyone else does. That's not ANN's problem. If an English title exists, it will be used by Netflix and Crunchyroll. It will appear on all the covers of DVDs and translated manga volumes. The industry's goal is to make money, and literally everyone who contributes will encounter the translated names over the Japanese originals.

I think this is a cringe post to make. I fully expected to check your profile and see a 15-year-old or something.
I also use the Japanese titles of anime, watch in sub, etc. When I was a teenager, I used to chuckle a bit at how people referred to certain things within this community, but that's all it is. You can laugh it off and be done with it. Saying it makes you "distressed" is a bit dramatic. If you're close with someone, you can tell them that it's just "anime" if you want, but it's honestly not a big deal. Additionally, there are English counterparts of anime titles for a reason, and people can use them.

That's not explaining me in a way I can understand, though.
That's just you telling me "If you keep having this view, we will bully and mock you until you stop", which is very mean.

With series titles, it's key to remember that these are commercial entertainment products designed to make money, not ancient/sacred Japanese cultural artifacts. And it's hard to expand the market beyond the pre-established viewerbase and make more money if titles are an impenetrable mess of foreign words. Any English title used on official streaming sites or disc releases has been negotiated and cleared with the Japanese rights holders.

Thus, Anglosphere-based sites like ANN that are pro-industry spaces are going to use the official English titles, in order to be comprehensible to a wider audience. Sites like MAL, torrent trackers, and /a/ are anti-industry spaces, so naturally they're going to cater more to the insular, hardcore viewerbase that prefers to exist in a bubble divorced from legitimate avenues of consumption.

Some possible solutions:

1) Pay attention to the alternate English titles provided on MAL series pages.
2) Use legal streaming services, if they are sufficiently available in your region and affordable to you.
3) Learn enough Japanese that you actually understand the titles to some degree, rather than memorizing random strings of gobbledygook.

I cringe when people have no idea of what Kimetsu no Yaiba is but they know what Demon Slayer is.

They totally lost opportunity to use the much better sounding one I came up with Dungeon Delicacies which is actually more accurate a translation too. Why the hell couldnt they figure that out if I could?

@traed I like Delicious in Dungeon more. It sounds weird, which I like, it sounds anime, which I like, and it emphasizes "Dungeon" more than the food (while your suggestion isn't bad, it sounds a bit like a cooking show).

Side note: I don't know if you are a Japanese speaker, but some titles might have nuances that we fail to pickup. Dungeon Meshi might be one of those titles. Furthermore, some titles are weird because the Japanese creators decided the English title without having enough knowledge of English.

On topic: I prefer saying the Japanese titles (i.e. "Shingeki no Kyojin") but will sometimes use Swedish or other terms (like "AOT").

Man we start a new year with already controversial topic. For me I address them english tittle because is easy to understand, but there anime that I address them in different language for example City Hunter I will call it Nicky Larson.

Not all people will address them in Jap names others have spelling problems while others they can't pronounce japanese well if they pronounce wrong people will laugh them.

Please my advice just accepted it and move on if you don't your not a anime fan because not all people can pronounce japanese, how about people living in European are prefer there language tittle because they cannot speak eng or Jap you need to learn people are different.
