Pretty cliche all around, but there's surprisingly little non-isekai action these days. With this kind of show the plot is secondary to the fights anyway, so we'll see how those go.

Watched the OVA years ago and have waited so long for a longer adaptation and here it is finally and it didn't disappoint. Loved this episode and can't wait to see more over the next few weeks/months.

This has got to be the most underrated anime this season, I decided to watch it because of Hiroyuki Sawano but I'm pleasantly surprised and hooked!

I like the trigger feel that this anime has, Haven't seen the OVA so I'm totally new to this series but will be keeping up with this one for sure.

Reading these comments makes me feel like I have to give this anime a fair shot and support it for all the dreamers that wanted to make something like the stuff that inspired them. Plus it's directed by a lady and Kekkai Sensen was also made by a lady director. Also that ice anime about gay lovers that a lot of people love.

I got burned last time when I tried to support Cannon Busters, and that anime clearly got a bigger budget than than this one did. Also, the story and animation feel like a lazy sketch of Trigger anime and mecha fantasy anime from the 90s. Just without the delusional MC who has been waiting his whole life to kick ass using robots.

To me, originality is something you can feel. Even when it's a Jojo homage, like Migi to Dali, or a subversion/example of shonen tropes, like Ragna Crimson, it's obvious when a storyteller is trying to be unique and do something different even when inspired by others.

This anime gives off none of that. At all. It also commits a cardinal sin in mecha anime by making an uncompelling MC. Why should we care about this kid? All he's doing is following in the footsteps of much better written characters who were ALREADY compelling before a mysterious badass upended their life.

I will give props to a girl in a sailor outfit jumping around without a bunch of panty shots. The music is ok sometimes too. Hopefully, 2 episodes from now the characters have more depth than the obvious stereotypes they are meant to fit into.

If nothing else, I could go give Parasyte: The Maxim a rewatch if I want to see the best way for a kid to be infested by an alien.

A random school boy encountering something which drastically changes his life/gives him abilities, add on a eye candy partner and you got yourself every the start of every shounen plot. Expecting the lead to somehow be related to someone important and eventually become stronger than the girl.

The visuals and animation look good. Though felt like some of the action scene animations were a bit too fast you don't really get to see the finer details. Also Sawano music.

I can tell it's Sawano just a few seconds into the OP lol

Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto combo duo is cooking the OST, it feels like i am watching AOT Final Season again.

Very solid start!!

This one feels like a hidden gem of the season if it's done well. I like the idea and setting of this anime. Also, very studio Trigger inspired, I love it. First episode was typical "normal guy from normal school gets a power that changes his life forever" type, but everything depends on the future plot, right now it's 6.5-7/10, between fine and good.

Should I watch it? The pv made me dislike the robo arm's character. Character is the make or break for me so i'm asking if he is annoying and how much.

I've never heard of this anime, but looks like its development has been a journey, and the animation is beautiful and unique. Hyped to see where this anime goes.

This is off to a pretty good start. Definitely feels a bit different from the OVA from years ago, but I’m excited to see this finally come out! I’m liking the great power, great responsibility vibe I am getting from this episode, and I assume that’s what’s probably going to end up driving the plot. (8.5/10)

@MFDOOMED Yeah, this is a problem I'm seeing too. Aki is awesome. The setting...could use a bit more explaining, but is intriguing. Even the animation is charming in this semi-chibi, rough kinda way. But Hikaru just isn't for me man.
A strange fellow from Korea who likes military history, science, and art.

Looks interesting

So it's about "living mechas" that acts like symbiotic parasites.

But the Humans have developed ways to forcedly control the Mechas to do whatever they want.

And we got the rebels that wants to "free" them.

.

in a way... this reminds me of the Transformer's movie plot (the one where Humans unlocked genome and tries to control the bots)

.

Also... LOOOOL, the arm's on his back... LOOOOL

But... from the synopsis and the beginning scene... you would think the mecha actually goes onto the dude's back... but nope... the mecha is somehow on a non-living host, the shirt... WTF... LOL

.

Expecting the lead to somehow be related to someone important and eventually become stronger than the girl.

hmm... reminds me of "Busou Renkin"... lol

What kind of garbage OST placement is this. Epic unicorn music idk when people are just chatting.

I'm really confused because the sound director is quite experienced and sawano is sawano...

I thought the fight scene was gonna look cool but it was really all over the place and confusing as hell.

Well that was a disappointment.

After hearing about this anime and finding out how much of a passion project it is and how much time it's taken for this to even become a series, I was interested. And I'm definitely not disappointed. Very pleasant start to the series and this is looking like it's gonna be a great show honestly. Also the opening and ending are SO GOOD. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!

Been a while since I'd seen the pilot episode.
So far pretty standard but entertaining at least.

Definitely getting a Kill La Kill / Studio Trigger vibe from the show with the artstyle and music.
