Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season Episode 10 Discussion

Didn’t anyone else notice a quality drop of the visuals and screenplay compared to the first 8 episodes of the season?

production issues. the BluRay will fix it like always. but it's not bad to get upset about anyway.

Holy shit what a great episode maybe my favourite one so far. I feel like they absolutely perfectly nailed the vibes of the earlier seasons with Araragi back in the spotlight this episode the jokes, humour, screenplay all looked amazing and played out how i use to remember, and of course it's pretty safe to assume with the goat back in the spotlight, so i expected peak cinema.
Will also say Araragi's new look has grown on me, specifically his hair. I did find his Hana look a bit meh, but when the promo shots of Monster Season Araragi came out, i could see the vision, now a few episodes deep i can safely say i dig it 100%, second to non behind Kizu's Araragi of course.

Also liked the way they did mini recap's of important plots in the previous seasons for new people or people that haven't watched the series in a while, Shinobu and Araragi's connection, the premises of Kizu, past Vampires, failed vampirization zombies from Kabuki arc, all of it flowed in quite naturally in the episodes plot and in general was a nice touch.

Absolutely fucking peak how we got to see the dynamic loli gang in it's full power, i was happy enough to see Araragi and Shinobu together on screen again, then the Ononoki jump scare and we got to see Shinobu and Ononoki banter, then God Mayoi's reintroduction and classic flubber was enough to bring a tear to my eye, all of course with Araragi's freak going into full gear, never change man please.
Fuck, it was so nice to hear Mayoi's "Kamimashita" again after all these years, and a Shinobu flubber bonus as an extra treat as well.

Equally nice how the old Vampires from Kizu and Seishirou Shishirui himself get mentioned, some little nostalgia to poke at, and it was cool to know what caused failed vampirization and thus zombie mummies. Being linked to the Vampires desire's, more reckless they are in the process the higher chance their victim turns into a mummy, and like the show said, i feel like this discovery adds more depth to the classic Kizu scene of Kiss-Shot turning Araragi into a vampire.
The link to the alt time line in second season Kabuki arc was crazy, was peak to actually see that throw back and a proper explanation to the cause for the zombies and further explain alt Kiss-Shots emotions.

Didn't expect a hell round 2 for Araragi as well, i honestly thought the "medicine" Mayoi was describing would be something simple like blood, but a material from hell is insane. Shinobu also not having second thoughts about slicing Araragi up especially since he put her on a child booster seat got a laugh out of me.

Ending was unexpected, i expected Deathtopia to be the surprise from Mayoi's description just not in the state she was in, honestly makes the story more interesting in how she ended up like that, might also beg the question to what her connections to the failed vampirization mummies are.

Post credits scene was wild, i remember hell looking funky the last time Araragi went but maybe not to that degree, and of course a Princess Acerola look alike there with him is a killer cliff-hanger.
