Fantastic first half, the eerie feeling just well fined tuned. I'm surprised senku didn't have some kind of anti petrification thing in mind. I guess not knowing how it was done is needs to be known first to even have something like that.. so Nvm lolz.

Pacing is definitely strange on this season so far and this episode doesn't stray far from that theme either. Wish they showed more about the boat being built and how they were able to do something extraordinary like that in what felt like out of thin air.

Oda-sensei wouldn't be caught making this kind of mistake in naming a character. Man, what an unnecessary plot hole naming Baldy, Soyuz. How did an editor not address this before the manga chapter was published? Regardless tho, it's a sick name so maybe they just rolled with it.

It definitely makes sense that there would still be people on the island that the astronauts originally landed on but the Soyuz reveal feels a little too out of nowhere.

I can't help but be a little skeptical that so many lengthy stories withstood 3700 years of oral tradition without any details getting messed up.

Soyuz was born with Photographic Memory, just like Kohaku who has Enhanced Physical Prowess or Ukyo with Super Sensitive Hearing.

so yeah. they are going to the island, thinking that it's uninhabited. oh, but some random guy on the ship, is actually confirming he's from that island, so there is people on the island.
wait
what?
like serious, where did that guy came from to bring us whole new drama?
is this how stories going on today?
lol

at any rate, it seems that senku made a lot assumptions here.
i mean, considering that now we know the island have people on it, who said that the treasure box hasn't been touched?

Enter Soyuz, who could be already seen back in Season 1, just in the background. His memory is powerfully impressive.

There were a lot of cute faces in this episode, haha.

I liked the episode! The possibility for the people at the tressure island couuld contain the people who initiated the petrification is a good concept (though I wonder how they'd turn out to be)

This is the first episode that left me a bit perplexed, to be honest. Just why didn't the woman who found Soyuz, our nameless guy, give him a name? And how can he not only remember his real name and the trip from his native island when he's shown as a baby when he was found!?

Chrome makes a good point, though, as usual. If there are people on the island with access to whatever stuff Byakuya left there, then it's possible that Why-Man is among the inhabitants. BUT since Why-Man was sending messages in Morse Code, he should at least be a modern person, perhaps another genius scientist like Senku, who's somehow revived like our main character did. Well, the island is close now! Looking forward to the next episode!

It would've been a good episode if this Nameless guy didn't exist. Everything from the way he was brought up on that island, how his parents didn't name him, and how he remembered the place; ruined the episode.

Also, I can't ignore the fact that they didn't show their bathroom and toilet on that ship. Surely they got one!

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

I have a lot of questions, like why they added that new character randomly, with such an important backstory, and how does he know any of that if he was an infant when he got to the village?

They do, it's called the ocean. :P

Soyuz really made no sense at all. As people have mentioned there's no possible way he could remember his name, where he was from, or anything at all when he was only an infant when he was found, and why was he one of the people chosen to be part of the crew when none of them even recognized him let alone knew he was important. Also why does he have an Xbox logo on top of his head?

Soyuz is pretty much just there to give our people insight on the treasure island. So he's basically just a plot device and that's it.
The fact that they separated into a few different groups makes sense since human have always migrated throughout time. Them thinking the island would be uninhabited is actually more surprising given how smart Senku is supposed to be and the fact they know the Why-man is out there somewhere.

He is just a plot device, his only purpose is to give them information that they need to move the plot forward. Though they should have been able to figure some of this stuff out on their own. What was strange to me is that the village did not notice the woman with a new baby hadn't been pregnant. It's just poor writing really.

@logic340

Yeah, and going foward with the anime that is going to be more evident. This is the stuff that keep me from giving Dr. Stone a higher score, because sometimes it just has this type of writing that I really don't appreciate. They could have introduced this island in so many different ways, there was no need to do it this way! Even after watching the rest of the season, and some months after, I still think this moment was one of the weakest in Dr. Stone

Finally, a formal character introduction for Soyuz, if you paid attention, he's always seen in some scenes in the background, even all the way back in Season 1!
Crazy how he's lived all his life in Ishigami village without a name, even crazier is his acute memory, scratch that. He got photographic memory 10 billion percent sure of it!

Holy crap...
Byakuya's trust in Senku is no joke; it's absolute certainty. The 100 tales, gifts in the form of manpower and friends and precious materials in the Soyuz spacecraft. All of that is for Senku, but at the same time, it would be useless if they aren't in Japan, where Senku was petrified...

The Treasure Island is where the astronauts made their landing and where their descendants continue living amongst themselves. Thanks to the 100 tales that Byakuya and the other astronauts made, Ishigami village was born. The spirit of exploration is in our DNA; there are countless individuals who, inspired by the romance of adventure into the unknown, would take it upon themselves and set sail beyond the island. All Byakuya did was steer that spirit towards Japan so that his gifts would await for Senku's eventual arrival.

That sends genuine goosebumps when you think about it and realise the fact. I fucking loved it.

This is the first real step towards saving all of humanity, but any major steps come with unforeseen conflicts, conflicts that have to be resolved. GET EXCITED!!!
