I also saw someone else on another forum post about this and they were talking about how it was tryna show that it is a different dimension
Those are lame ass excuses from fans to defend the silliest things about this anime, those special effects have nothing to do about being in a different dimension since the Lower-rank meeting didn't suffer from that shit, Ufotable simply wanted to make that scene dramatic but they went overboard with it and got way too overdramatic, I was facepalming and cringing in it.
On the contrary to complaining that animation is
too good, the biggest and most dangerous antagonists of the series got introduction they deserve and vastness of another dimension, which defies the laws of physics being also properly presented.
This take is so stupid, it birdelines on trolling.
I dont think anybody's really complaining about the animation. Its just that, they made a 5 minute scene into a 15 minute scene. Not saying thats bad, but it's out of place. Everytime some demon talked, we had to take a tour of the infinity castle or some other special effect, which was really unnecessary, something which is very commonly seen in Indian soap operas, where when a character tells something, the camera shows every fucking person from around the area whith a screen flash and sound effects. If you want to understand what we mean by that, check this video out....
A straightforward acene from Friends, when added unnecessary special effects, makes it way too cringy to watch with a straight face.(but I do think this episode was not as fucked as this.)
But when last season they literally stretched ONE PANEL into three minute scene, everything was cool and dandy.
As I said, extending a scene is not a bad thing, as long as its done properly. The final battle was done correctly, they skipped almost all explanation panels from the manga and instead added action sequences. Here, the demons are casually talking, or maybe bantering with each other, but moving the focus from the demons and giving a drone cam sequence around the infinity castle was very unnecessary. Atleast after they showed how vast and bizarre the infinity castle was in the first 2 minutes.
As a manga reader and knowing what happens next, I can tell you it's necessary characterisation, that will be brought up later.
There is a good reason why Akaza was upset about Doma touching his shoulder and overall hates his guts. Just like Doma pretending to be a nice guy while mocking and taunting him, because he knows he is currently untouchable. And Akaza's rising anger, frustration and fear were conveyed by flashes without any words. Those "Bollywood effects" is what conveys what happens inside character's head without any words.
But, well, If people are looking for something to nitpick, not foreshadowing, then what can you tell.
Oh thanks for letting me know something I'm already aware of. You are still failing to get my point. I'm not talking about Akaza's rage.....Ahh!!nvm,its useless explaining.... Since you enjoyed the episode, good for you. I too did enjoy the episode, just felt few parts were out of the place. thats all!!
