In a show like this, it's important to show that actions have consequences, and this time, Shinpei's looping resulted in an easier win for Shide and Haine against Hizuru. "As far as endings go...this isn't so bad. It's not about how long you lived. It's about... It's about how well you lived!" Good quote.

Though, I'm not gonna lie, since Episode 16 I haven't been enjoying this show as much, but let's hope they stick the landing in the last five episodes.

So, Sledgehammer Waifu is now dead and will stay dead? That's a shame, because she was easily THE best girl of the year. I'm kinda sad. At least her death scene was phenomenal and emotional, if you can call it that.
But the upside is, that glimmer of light that forced Haine and Shide to flee might imply, that Ushio Shadow is still somehow alive and Ryonosuke is now attached to Shinpei.

Hizuru's death took me out. While I have a feeling Ushio might come back in the end, Hizuru is definitely gone for good. I hate the feelings of hopelessness this anime leaves you with.

It's gonna be great seeing Shide get what's coming to him, that bastard.

They said that if Ushio dies in a certain loop, she will still exist in the next loop but without her memories. This is why Shipei was worried because if she died, he wouldn't get to meet her until the third day -- that's only if he failed to find her before that.

I didn't read the manga, but I have a theory -- I will hide it just in case because I know some people complain if a theory turns out to be correct.

This Anime KEEPS on surprising me with how well-written it is, the great animation is a plus but the writing is superb. The only thing standing in this anime's way from being a 10/10 show is the ending... I have high hopes that it will land the ending well and become a modern classic anime.

I agree, right now it is 10/10 for me and only the ending can change that. The only time looping anime that got 10/10 from me is Steins;gate.
I think this will be the second anime.

the episode was so emotional. Sometimes life can be so unfortunate, that a soul needs to rest in peace so that another one stays in peace and keep going. The sad reality of life.

I found the episode quite gripping but definitely much more in an action sense than the mystery that drew me in at the start. It's sad but I guess it was ultimately a positive trade-off to loop and get all the others even though that meant we lost Hizuru. I definitely think that Haine is scared that Ushio might appear or something of that nature due to the golden glow from the seashell in Shinpei's pocket.

It was really cool seeing the experimentation of powers with Ryuunosuke taking some of the shadow mud to make a whole new shadow body. Seeing how Hizuru handed Ryuunosuke off to Shinpei it will be interesting to see how Shinpei uses Ryu.'s precog if that transfers.

Also I find the event horizon interesting because it shifts forward but it can be outrun if you survive for long enough. Though it looks like Shinpei was going to disregard it and to try and save Hizuru but luckily S!Mio stopped that from happening.

Maybe it's because I stopped trying to break down the plot and make sense of it, but the last three episodes have been better aside from some obvious trope artifacts like the clearly-not-really-dead Ushio. The direction is also going back on track and no longer completely ruining every scene that is supposed to be cool, so there's that. A little too late, though.

It's just not really interesting and logically consistent how often "secret moves" and new powers keep popping up without proper setup — latest offenders being Ushio's transference to the necklace (or whatever she did), Shide's (remotely controlled?) human but false body, and Hizuru's ability to pass on Ryuunosuke to someone else. This is not mystery, it is bullshit, and reinforces the shounen aura that the anime exhales despite being a wannabe seinen thriller. It makes no sense that some of these things were not brought up or used before, but anyway, it's nothing new that they spec'ed most of the points into rule of cool.

This show continues to delve into interesting territory. I love how it really explores each individual in what is really a short period of time. The mystery of the show hasn't even been revealed in its entirety yet but you can tell its been well thought out. I'm very excited to finish the show and I'm sure the ending will be just as interesting as the rest of this series.

The way Hizuru died was unexpected … Shinpei literally was the once who caused his death because he looped thinking that he can just fix things and never considered how that would affect current fights. It was really surprising.

Now we have Shinpei with Shadow’s power. So if Ushio returns, then there will be 3 shadows against Haine and Shide

Remember? shinpei looped after meeting with Tokiko, so it never happened in the next timeline, cuz Shide knew it and countered, so Hizuru died as a result😢

Let’s go Hizuru! Girl is fast with her spear! Risking her life for a shot at redemption ain’t a bad reason. That was some quick work with the transfer. Fuck you Shide! Ryuunosuke’s got into your “mud” and now he’s got a body.

But my girl Shadow Mio though! “You talk too much” lol. Damn girl! Straight for the kill. She’s all business that one. But man, Mio got got huh? And now Tokiko’s gone too. Well, if first you don’t succeed…

Looks like despite the loop, Hizuru is still gone. Damn it! But free Haine? It’s interesting she’s the one being played but ok. Maybe Shinpei can use this info to turn them against each other. I think the seed of doubt has been planted in Haine already.

Well… so long Hizuru o7. Gone but not forgotten.

A death of a beautifully written character. That was a big loss, I hope they don't have anymore losses in the future.

Since Hizuru transferred Ryunosuke to Shinpei, I guess in the next fight we'll get to see Shinpei fighting like a badass.

Ushio still alive with that shining yellow light though???

My only gripe is that I thought Shinpei was already at his limit before he reset.

Side note: Those kids he saved before are dead too.

there is no way u watched the same episode 20 as everyone else because if anything the budget probably got raised a bit, did you just choose to ignore the crystal clear HD shots and the fluidity of the animation in some scenes???
