I am of the opinion that a single, well placed and timed slap can works wonders under the right circumstances. But that being said, this woman lost the right to give one a long time ago.

Unless they pull some fantastic storytelling and character development to redeem her from her seemingly outright villanous role, highly unlikely now that the brother has already taken that path, I imagine she'll be presented now as the ultimate evil to be defeated.

If only she had followed that slap with a single tear, just the smallest show of concern for her daughter...

Mother is complete trash. Parents who resort to violence under whatever circumstances don't deserve children. Maybe not for Sayu, but for some children it would be reason enough to run away again.

It was a good episode overall. But the visual quality (art-style, animations and design details) was extremely poor.
From episode 3 onwards, the visual quality in each episode was downgraded and reached its peak in this episode!
This anime deserved more than this in visual quality... πŸ₯Ί

Wow, what a whore, to say the least, the first thing she does is slap her daughter when she is conscious that she was the reason for Sayu to leave in the first place.

Things are going to get interesting on the next episode, we are close to the end.

This show started off in such a promising way. The last few episodes appear to be on rails, the author has decided where the story is going to end and all the characters behave accordingly, whether it makes sense or not. Everything that happens is just to reaffirm that Yoshida should be getting interested in Sayu or it is for dramatic effect. When the mum's hand went up, I was expecting brother or Yoshida to stop her, but no one did, were they really that surprised that the mum did that? All that business on the roof, was that really necessary, is she still that traumatised, will be interesting to see how she manages to recover in the final episodes, so that a romance with Yoshida doesn't just look a bit weird.

The first few episodes looked like we might be getting something different and interesting but all the characters have turned into cardboard cut outs and the main protagonist has just turned into some weird 'yes man' who doesn't seem to be able to think about anything that isn't right in front of him. It has still been interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing how it will end but then I will quickly forget about it.

Rooftop scene was done right. It was emotional.

I didn't expected Sayu's mom to jump into her arms and apologising instantly, so I'll give her ONE chance.

This was a nice episode to watch.

I enjoyed the nice wholesome moments there were in this episode, I see that Sayu's mom is still the same incell as she was before, she really doesn't care at all, so there's literally no point in her wanting Sayu to be there.

For me the pacing really seemed to drag this episode. The plane ride and the cafe visit were okay as "slow down" moments that had some nice bits such as observing the girls outside the cafe, but then came the school scene, which was even slower and felt like they dragged it out longer than they needed to. The roof scene was important, but most of the time spent making their way into and through the school could have been cut. It's as if they wanted to end the episode with meeting Mom and needed to draw out the rest so it didn't end up happening with ten minutes left.

Well at least Sayu is coming to terms with the things that happened.
The question now is how wil things go with her mother, the slap made it clear she is angry but it that's to be expected.
It's just wil she accept the return of her daughter or not and what will she do now that her daughter is back this could get nasty.
Hopefully it won't tho.

Also Sayu's brother is obsessed with Lexus.

I mean, Lexus has some pretty cars

I fail to understand people who complained about sayu's mother slapping her. I mean, that's what parents normally do. She's been away from home for 6 months. No matter what the reason is, even if it's caused by herself. Her mother still has the right to get mad at her. From the first time she's introduced it's obvious that she isn't the kind and loving type of parent. I'm not expecting her to hug and kiss her saying that she's worried about her the whole time. Sayu needs to snap back to reality. Also, that slap was perfect. Well... almost. If only it wasn't done from like 2 meters ahead. At least it wasn't as bad as kumo desuga though.

Not exactly a good episode. But at least sayu is now resolved to face her mother. This better not develop into 'your mother is actually kind and love you' or smthn.

remember kids.. Sayu's mother did NOT disowned her.. Sayu freaking ran away.. and running away is the worst thing a teenager girl can do.. and Sayu's mother already knows that Sayu destroyed any chance of getting a normal life after sleeping with a ton of randos..

99% agree with you my vro,but in case of her mother slapping you are slightly bit off.
Yea for a teenager girl running away is the worst thing she can do. But the reason... The reason is solely based on her mother behaviour.Make sense that her mother by slapping her makes the right decision, but if you think reason....You somewhat pisses of!

So I was hard on this show last week because the episode just wasn't great in my opinion as it felt like they just wants to throw out half the supporting cast. But this episode was pretty good I didn't think they would actually go into Sayu's mental state like that. I still think Sayu is going to need mega therapy after witnessing the situation that she witnessed.

the thing that bugs me about the whole situation Is that the brother knew about it and clearly lives on his own. Granted he did what he did because the show had to happen. But if this were a realistic scenario I would the brother would have taken her to live with him for a while or got youth/CPS services involved.

People are acting surprised. From what we've heard from the mother so far, this is entirely in character with her. And things are only going to get worse from here I bet.

BRO WTF IS UP with those character models!!! If you somehow missed it, take a look at the shot when they just walk into the house, 21:35 I think should be the timestamp. Just LOOK at those CREATURES WTF

Also I noticed at the end of the ED with the two looking out into the distance standing under the tree, yoshida's body has definitely been shrunk. It just looks so funny.

And yeah I just love the happy upbeat ED music that cues right after the mom freaking BITCH SLAPS her own daughter.... yeah I just abused my child now time for some happy music!!! LOL

No I don't hate this show I still am very much enjoying it. But dang there's just so many unintentionally funny moments lol. Lots of emotional shit went down in this episode but then there's the character models at 21:35. Very nice.

She went there to make peace with what happened, before finally being able to face going home. How does that possibly not go with the flow of the story?

Why? That wasn't the reason she ran away. She ran away because of her mom's insensitivity - which was presented rather hastily. It doesn't fit into the narrative. She was sad by her friends death, not traumatized. She ran away from home on impulse, not because of anything to do with her dead friend. Visit her grave to make peace. That's what everyone else does. Give her a flower while you're at is.

She was traumatized enough by her death to not go to school again and just withdraw into her room. Yes, she ran away because of her mother, but what her mother accused her of was exactly her friend's death. To be able to make up with the mother she first had to come to terms with the underlying trauma from her friend's suicide. There's no getting over her mother's accusations while even she still can't forgive herself.

Usually you'll get scenes where people slap someone out of worry but that is not the case for our shitty mother here. There is not a single amount of worry in that mother's face. Pretty good episode! Really glad Yoshida was there with Sayu, I can't imagine her being able to face her past all alone. The grip strength on that girl though, Jesus lmao. That episode was also pretty good pacing wise, it didn't feel rushed or anything.

The ED playing after Sayu's mother slapped her is comically hilarious lmao. Kinda was expecting Yoshida to catch that slap, sadly he didn't. Gotta give props to Sayu's va though, she did great. The OST was great also. Looking forward to how Yoshida is gonna roast Sayu's mom.

Sayu's brother is way too lax... I said this before, mf let his sister run away with little pocket exchange wtf. I get he trusts Yoshida now but why did he let them go into the school at NIGHT?
Sayu's mom is the worst mom ever. When you lose your daughter for some time like that, all logic and reasoning start to fall behind and you just want to see your daughter again. Slapping her just when she came back especially when there was a chance that you'd never see her again was too immature. I understand that she had a reason to get angry, but she could've shown that anger later. Hell I'd say Sayu's brother deserved that slap more than anyone. She could've even slapped Yoshida lol.

Is it my imagination or does Sayu look younger in this episode than she did in the Festival episode.

Its almost as if they're trying to show she was growing up with Yoshida and now she's reverting to being a JK.

The artwork is definitely going downhill as is the adaptation.

In some was I wish they hadn't put the tall fence on the school and Sayu had jumped off the roof as well. Then Yoshida could have done the grab in the OP to save her or let her drop and go back to Gotou/Mishmina.

Although I felt good for this series from the starting but coming to this one left me feeling things unfulfilled or not done properly. No am not talking about the slap in the last but how sayu talked herself (with yoshida) to be able to stand up to what happened with her friend
If there was no one else within a 5-kilometer radius from Shimamura, and she was in a deep sleep and an all-knowing deity just happened to reassure me that she wasn’t going to wake up the next 24 hours, maybe I’d get bored after 23 hours and I might kiss her once to relieve some boredom...

Honestly there's a ton of worse things to bitch about with this show, but Yoshida's comments to Sayu on the rooftop hit a special nerve. "If you can't forgive yourself, you'll be stuck here forever." "It's all in the past now." "You cared too much."

What a clown, and what terrible writing that this is supposed to be the scene where Sayu finally confronts her terrible past and begins to get over it. Saying shit like this to a traumatized person in reality isn't gonna help them at all, it's just gonna make things even worse. It's outright dismissive of her feelings, downplaying them as if it was something that could be forgotten just like that and even puts some of the blame on her in a situation that's clearly not her goddamn fault and clearly something she's been beating herself up over this entire time.

Of course, much like how Yoshida's misguided saviour complex actions are portrayed as straight heroism (because he's such a nice guy that literally everyone in this show has to humble brag/pat him on the back about it), this gets played completely straight as good emotional support... even though it reads like the exact same shit her mother would say about this.

Only good line there was the part where Yoshida asked if she was okay and she went 'not at all', because of course she fucking isn't.

Honestly at this point I'm just waiting for Sayu and Yoshida to get married (or at least have some dumb proposal scene) already so I can cast this in the mental fires of hell with zero regrets.

It'll be interesting to see how much of Sayu's backstory is replayed for her mother to show how damaged Sayu has become due to her actions and the girls suicide and what reaction the mother & brother will have...

You can bet she thinks Yoshida has been doing the dirty with her daughter. In theory she could just sign Sayu over to Yoshida and then she could live with him in Tokyo.

Parental consent is required as Yoshida is > 20 and Sayu is not over 18 otherwise its a felony (which is why he couldn't beat the crap out of the rapist or call the cops about him).

Hopefully Ep.12 will result in some therapy and getting back to school to complete her education even if that means staying in student dorms so she's away from her toxic home life.

Its now episode 11 and its good.. and not yet that good, since there will be another hurdle that sayu must face, which she might not yet be ready for.. its really a good thing that yoshida was able to come, so that she will be able to touch the light when her heart was in the darkness.. i mean he is there for moral support, but as things stand at the end of the episode, it will now be sayus fight from now on.. since it will now be her illogical mother that she must face once she gets back to her house, as a home is where one can be at peace.. also, emotional traumas are seriously very hard to deal with.. even if one is now prepared to overcome it, not alone they cant.. and those other people probably dont know what they got, until they abandon it.. and what i mean is freedom, the thing sayu and other people like her lack.. the freedom to be with friends, and the support of parents when something is amiss.. tho reality would always slap back at u when u say that, one way or another.. well, back to the anime, sayu is now back and her mother is now the last boss after conquering a powerful curse.. that is the summary of this episode.. anyways, i rate the episode a 8.5 of 10, 8.5 for story and 10 for art.. :)
