I was afraid to post here when I first joined. I grew up being very shy and it was hard for me to talk to people in person and on the internet. But now I've opened up a lot and will post on here anytime. ^__^

Its only on CD. I use to be most active here but moved to CGTS and AD because at the time it was the invasion of the Sex threads that never ended and as soon as one got closed someone opened another, then other weeks there was like no new posts as all, just the same top 10 / 15 posts, just gaining more replies...

You must also remember there is a difference between intelligent users and pseudo-intellectual users. The first post interesting topics to discuss but might not be super academic but are generally nice and honest. The other type are just on Mal literally to only post in threads about a subject they know about so they can stroke their penis and ego over how much they know and how better they are than others. Usually half their posts are tl;dr books copy pasted from university papers and the other half telling others how dumb they are and how much better it makes them.

Those threads are worse than shitty threads because they are not honest and they use mal literally for ego boosts every few weeks but don't actively take part anywhere else on the forum. I'll take mal as it is over been filled by those people.

Nah, people say I'm an asshole both on MAL and in real life.
But I don't care, I got used to being hated.

Being always seen as the bad guy aka the cynical asshole has its share of fun too

Btw OP, there should be one more option in your poll.

I'm not ashamed of who I am but it's not like I care of contributing either xD

I never thought of this as a serious forum to begin with. Nonetheless, it's always interesting to see a serious topic with serious posters.

I've been a member for a bit, but haven't posted much, like many, many others, I have my reason.

I have always found MAL's posters to be a bit more,, how to say it, less well-mannered and serious compared to most forums I have seen over the years.
But I didn't really think about it until an aquaintance of mine, who was a posting machine on a different anime board maybe ten years ago, he told me he'd given up on MAL because of the users lack of intelligent posters, so to speak.

And I feel the same way, not that any of you should care.
But it really is hard having any serious conversation on here without that immature "omg seks" or "bewbs" popping into every topic, and the moderators who don't care.

The thing is unless you know the person irl and plan on watching anime with them there's not much to seriously discuss. If you have any intelligence you realize this instantly or soon after joining MAL and if you have the necessary intelligence to realize this and are bored you turn to shit/joke posting with a few serious posts sprinkled throughout because there isn't a lot to post about otherwise. The majority of MAL is at least mildly intelligent just extremely bored.

I think people are generally confusing what counts as intelligent and what counts as general people been bored. I don't come here to get into the deepest talks about life and the universe. Well sometimes I do but like all social places it can't feel too heavy so its always nice to kick back, be yourself and not have to worry about keeping up appearances.

I think those people who say mals users are not smart, are just too high up on their own ego to see that Mal is full of very normal, either in education or in work people, humans and is just like any other social location it has a good mix of people and we are clearly not dragging our knuckles on the ground and getting confused about why it rains. I'd rather be a normal person than some self proclaimed intelligent user who only slinks into mal to show superior debating skills like it matters on a forum for anime weebs.

I mean seriously Ive heard this so many times now I would like to know. What counts as a so called 'intelligent person'? because as far as I can see normal people are not dumb fucks, we go to work, we manage our bills and finances we are up to date on current events and have opinions on a wide variety of topics. Just what kind of intellectual utopia are people wanting on MAL

You should grow out of your special snowflake syndrome OP.

I don't bother discussing anime on this site because it's only a hobby, not an obsession. Chatting with a few friends is a nice way to kill time though.

Nobody gives a shit. :D

You probably have at least some kind of connection to this place, otherwise you wouldn't have made this thread, or posted almost 100 times for that matter. It's obviously just not for you. There are tea-party prissy fagot forums out there more suited for you. Though, admittedly few and far between just based on how super edgy everyone likes to be on the internet these days.

OT: I am deeply ashamed of who I am on MAL. Because it's not the real me.

Am I calling myself fake? Kinda. But I'm realer than most, I'd say. Nobody is a perfect reflection of who they are behind the keyboard/webcam/microphone. The internet is where we experiment and bend who we are to get a better sense of our actual personalities. And sometimes for no real reason at all but to have fun.

According to you. From what I know of you, you don't even bother with your grammar, not in the slightest. I hate people like that. And that's considering you come from a Nazi background. Shameful.

I abuse the fact that I'm on the internet to the fullest to act like as much of an asshole as I possibly can sometimes.

I'm just like, "Oh, if I say this thing or do that thing and people think bad of me for it, then cool! It's the internet, so nothing bad can really happen!"

I legitimately try to become hated sometimes because, to an extent, the feeling of being hated is satisfying. I like blowing off steam, trying to be as horrible as possible, and getting all the negative attention that comes with it, and because it's the internet, there's not much significant consequence for it.

And then I calm down and proceed to regret everything and get super sad, because as much as I WISH I was an asshole who didn't care what other people thought about me, I'm not.

So yeah, kind of ashamed.

That's the most beautiful thing I've read today.

I followed what you're following. Then I left MAL because /real life. When I returned, I decided to preserve my real persona in my MAL persona and I felt the change bring drastic turn of events around myself. Being an asshole was fun, but in the end, I decided, it doesn't serve a better purpose.
I still troll sometimes (just because some people need to be teased), but being a civil person in this extremely uncivil website merits attention.

Eh, I try to post somewhat seriously depending on the post topic. Sometimes I might just randomly throw "boobs" or "pussy" into the mix, but that's if you ask me "What kind of food would you want to eat for the rest of your life?" Honestly, I try to keep it as close to my own opinion.
