My parents never gave me "the talk", but my mom did show me her and my stepdad's sex toys when I was, like, 11 and explained how they worked. I always thought that was kinda odd.

I learned what I know about sex through teen health websites in the early-mid 2000s and weekly late-night viewings of Talk Sex With Sue Johanson in my mid-teens.

I say this thread should now apply to people born before 1996. Before the internet age

Might want to push that back to around 1986. Anyone born in 1990 would certainly have the internet to answer all of their questions by the time they were going to be asking them.

Anyone who didn't grow up in the internet age then.

My parents seen my internet history long before I reached the stage of puberty, they didn't see a purpose in explaining all of the nifty stuff since I learned about it from the "documentaries" I watched on-line.

Same here. I remember being handed some books, but they were so clinical and unrelatable that I didn't get anything out of them.

No, I'd be disowned at most, but I can't confidently say my father wouldn't beat the shit out of me in a fit of rage.

My dad had given me the talk when I was 14. My mother let him handle it, lmao. He was pretty direct and the only reason it was embarrassing was because I already knew this stuff ahead of time. He didn't really teach me anything new besides what the name to each part of the female genitalia was.

It is so much easier to access such themes now, though, it isn't even funny. As for back then... I had found my dad's vhs porn tapes just before i turned 13. I always made sure to put them back exactly as they were and exactly at the last part it was at when I put the tape in. He never found out. I still don't know what is a good age to start explaining it to young teens/kids. I think it depends on the person. I think girls should know sooner, though, because they tend to grow up faster than boys.

Nope. They were about to once, but were a bit flustered and were like did you learn this in biology yet? I said yeah, and they had a look of relief and were like, "Ok, phew, that makes things easier, so you know and are good right?". I said I was, and they left it at that. My parents seemed more relieved than I was.

I was kind of sheltered until I was 14.( class-mates)

I got a very small talk about it when I was barley 14.
I knew a few things prior, but I didn't worry about that type of stuff then.
I just didn't find any of it funny and such.

Even today I haven't experienced it, or watched it, unlike....some of you.

When I was around 16-17 and got my first girlfriend, i got a pack of condoms from my dad and he told me: Don't be a fool, wrap your tool.

Never really talked about it more than that.

My Dad gave me the talk. He gave me a fake one when I was 10 talking about the birds and the bees by saying "All you need to know is that bees sting and birds carry diseases". That's what I used to say for a while. Later on a few years later my dad explained to me exactly how one has sex.

And that was that.
I already knew the "how one should treat sex" sort of things.

Yeah, my dad gave me the talk. For a kid who read so much, I was pretty dense about some things. Actually "the talk" was pretty vague, something about human sex being different from animal sex. It raised more questions than it answered, all in all.

A few years later I got the "responsibility talk." About how I was a fully developed person who had been taught right from wrong, I had to make my own choices but also accept the consequences for those choices. The "responsibility talk" was more useful than the "sex talk."

Lol , My friends and I used to do the same thing when we were having our anatomy . We always end up playing the private parts. There was one time where we changed the parts of the anatomy model , the upper part having boobs and the lower part having a penis :P

My parents didn't tell me a thing. I don't know why they didn't, maybe they felt uncomfortable about it, which is understandable, but I would have appreciated the teaching at least somewhat.

But "the talk" is now obsolete thanks to the easy access to porn, which is how I learned the do's and don'ts of sex.

When I have children, I will give them the talk, regardless of how embarrassing, or unnecessary it is. Kids need to know this shit. Way to many teenage pregnancies nowadays.
