That was quite interesting, not what I expected jumping into my first ever football anime lol. Fun little take on the sports genre in general. Kind of what I felt jumping into Food Wars for the first time.

My lord what a first episode. I didn't know what to expect other than the insane amount of hype this show had going into this season! I was excited for this because I already like soccer (yes I'm American, deal with it), but this blew away my expectations. The animation is incredible, and I hope it continues to be this good going forward. So far the story is great, and I can tell that this show is going to have a lot of betrayals and plot twists. I'm ready for more!

they censored ego's speech lmaooo

Really? What parts were removed? I haven't noticed something significant.

they put some dumbass phrase "lock off" instead of "fuck off" in the manga which sounded cooler.. also saying "ill in the head" instead of "fucked in the head" which also sounds cooler, "backwards country" instead of "shit hole of a country". besides the censorship, they also didn't go into as much detail as in the manga as to what egoism means and what it means to be an egotistical striker

Thanks for the information! Also they removed parts with Anri Teieri from the first episode as I noticed.

As someone who isn't really a fan of sports anime, I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. The spin on the generic teamwork/friendship plot is different which I like. I'm sad to see Kira getting eliminated like that already because I was hoping for him and Isagi to make it to the Top 5 together, but hopefully this isn't actually the end for him. :(

Here we go!!! Never been more excited for a sports anime since Haikyuu.

Blue Lock started off strong and ended on a strong note with this first episode.

So far, I'm impressed and it left a good first impression. The animation looks amazing and you can feel the intensity of it all.

I'm excited to see more.

Also. Nice side crossbar shot.

One of the most anticipated adaptations of this year and as the fans say, it is one of the best football manga adaptations. So, I wasn't gonna miss this. I didn't get the chance to watch Ao Ashi this year which was very good apparently. But, for now, let's focus on Blue Lock. Looks like Japan is desperate to improve its football performance by training some 300 elite players in a facility called 'Blue Lock' and then pulling out the best striker among them. Idk man... make one player the best and don't give a fuck about others on the team. I'm more of a team player.

The art style is very amazing. And, the animation looks great as well. Also, the OST is really good. I'm glad 8bit chose to do this show because they are very good. Very impressed. Though, in sports shows, I like realism. I hope it follows that path. And, I wanna see the growth of everyone. Really excited about this show. Great start.

Btw, Yoichi's mum is really cute. And, sleeping Bachira. LUL

if it’s realism you seek, then you definitely should give ao ashi a watch as well, that’s what makes it so good!

People pls don't expect this to actually be realistic in it's tactics that Ao Ashi may have but what's praised is the craziness, which is the entertainment and Isagi kicking that ball to this guy's soccer face was epic.

Well, it's a striker-centric show, what do you expect? If there is a position that ego is truly essential, its always the forwards. What do you expect from a striker, pass it back from the midfield for the sake of "Teamwork".

I'm quite entertained by the interesting theme in this anime about individuals not teams in soccer. I think this anime will have a strong story about individual competition.

I will follow this anime. I hope this anime will be interesting in the future for me.

Good start 4/5

That's such an unique sports anime. It gave me the goosebumps. I never had so much fun watching a sports anime before.

It's like a soccer version of Squid Game.

One thing that makes this anime really interesting is that they are mentioning real life players. None of the sports anime that I have watched did that. Another thing is that it doesn't revolve around your typical teammate bonding like every other sports anime. I'm kinda tired of watching “for the team” type of stuff. Also, it's going to be so much more fun to watch this with Fifa 2022 going on at the same time.

As for the animation, 8bit is actually doing pretty good. I just hope it doesn't drop cuz of 2 cour. OP is great and can't wait to hear the ED.

Nah, man. Production quality is great but the story is edgy AF, LOL

Football is a team sport. We've seen selfish superstars in all team sports lose over and over because they were bad teammates.

Training the ultimate striker won't do anything if he doesn't pass the ball

Also, why allow fighting if you're testing football skills?
