Well, I think it is certainly better to marathon through the series when it's over, especially in BD.

I watched FZ again in BD and found many things that I hadn't noticed notice before.

Agreed, you see things differently when you marathon a show versus watching week-to-week.

Probably because watching a show when airing causes you to over-evaluate each new episode instead of going with the flow.

I'm rewatching FMA:Brotherhood right now and you'd never know it'd become the first ranked series on MAL based on the comments made when airing. People are bitching about the pacing, changes to the manga, how it's nowhere as good as the first series, etc. Now everyone agrees it's brilliant.

I'm not so sure, It's certainly very important in hindsight. Some of the scenes gain their significance as the story progresses.

Anyone watching it again will be like.. :D

Correct, Every scene during this Episode was just filling time or there to further the plot towards the next fight next episode.

People never appreciate the set up and foreshadowing when they watch it for the first time, only to regret their idiot comments later.

Just to add to your point, people were bitching about Stein;Gate too when it was airing.

Never got why people complained about the start of S;G. I mean yeah it was slow, but that was only to establish the setting and make you feel comfortable - which made what happens later even more of a mindfuck.

- Arguing with Archer and trying to understand a Servant's disposition
- Actually sitting down and consulting Saber about their Grail War strategy
- Learning more about the mage world from Rin
- Taking up Saber's offer for combat training

Shirou is trying to understanding his own weaknesses and compensate for them. Not necessarily to fix or improve, but at least make it so he's not helpless. I'm loving it.

One small touch I liked in this episode was Saber noticing that Shirou was nervous around her, so she left him to continue training. They didn't make a big deal out of it, and nothing more became of it all. Any other show would have dragged it out or tried to make things even more uncomfortable. I really appreciated that. It confirmed that it's still Fate/Stay Night, but it's done with a lot of respect towards its characters.

Also, Shirou has yet to overreact to anything, even to Shinji. He's always keeping his cool, yet never backs down from a fight. He's really serious about the Grail War, and it's great to see. In fact, this whole show is trying to be serious, even though it still tries for comedic moments. I think the key here is that it's neither deathly serious nor does the comedy ever break the show's tension. There's a very consistent heavy feeling looming over the show, and its great. The show knows what it wants to be and keeps at it.

Well, now to wait another week.

You make it sound as if Shirou isn't an annoying useless ginger idiot and that the show may actually have some darkness and maturity as opposed to being a teenage harem filled with boring unnecessary filler. This is like bait for haters, an Anti-Bait.

I'm paying attention to the show's presentation, not to its plot or characters specifically. I'll mention Saber sitting next to Shirou and him getting visibly flustered again. Yes, the scenario has been seen many a time in teenage harem shows. However, I'd seriously like to know of another show where the girl notices the boy's nervousness, gets up calmly, and excuses herself so the boy could continue working. No big scene, no overreaction. It would sound like the kind of show I'd be interested in watching.

Unlimited Blade Works is not dark, and I'd have a difficult time arguing that it's mature. However, as I see it, the show itself is treating itself and the viewer with respect, and that's what I'm getting at.

Even if Saber wasn't some random "teen" girl, she easily could have been, and at multiple points in time, she really was that "teen" girl. It's just that in this specific instance, she isn't explicitly one. Carnival Phantasm was still hilarious as hell though
