| First, I'd like to say that Maria watching the Higurashi Kai DVD shorts on TV made my day. Second, wow. That was such an improvement over the first episode (surprise surprise). Granted, this is the part where the VN hooked me, too, but I got the Umineko shivers all over again watching it all animated. Maria's letter reading was perfect. Her face during the whole thing made the scene, and I think it should give her some comeback after the uu- incident that people seemed to hate so much. Speaking of which, I think I caught only one or two quick uu-'s in the entire episode for those who care. I was (more than) a bit disappointed at how they rushed through the chessboard talk, so hopefully they'll explain that concept more as it becomes increasingly important. I'm also still not a fan of the Battler-commenting-on-big-boobs scenes, but whatever, it doesn't completely kill the show for me, and I didn't like them in the VN either. Back to the pluses, the second half of the episode was awe-inspiring. Natsuhi got some much-needed development with the Kinzo scene, and everything that happened starting the next morning was exactly what this show needed, and captured exactly what I loved so much about the VN's first chapter. I was also pleasantly surprised at how lenient the censors were on the faces. The one tiny complaint I had about the second half is that George's proposal scene seemed a little awkwardly executed. It was quickly made up for, though. Voice acting was great all around, BGM was apparently awesome (I rarely listen for it on my first watchthrough, and I'm not one of those guys who can identify the VN's music by name) and it added a great deal to the mood, and I still love the OP and ED themes (ED is growing on me more and more each time I hear it - I guess I'm getting used to the guy's voice). Animation was serviceable, although I did notice one scene where Genji and Nanjo were walking kinda funny. Things are getting good... ^_^ Sheepdude said: This. But honestly, they should mention it already, otherwise half of Episode IV would make absolutely no sense at all. It's kinda like the Drengot said: Too bad for people who played the game, this is an anime discussion. Please leave all the game BGM somewhere. Why should we leave the BGMs when they're included in the anime?... had Umineko been like Higurashi, with a complete new soundtrack, there would have probably been less talk concerning music. But since Umineko is a sound novel, and since they're using remixes of the game tracks, and since we're appreciating that, why should we not discuss about it? |

| Whoa, the scene when Maria was reading the letter was amazingly creepy. And I haven't played the game or anything, but I still thought this episode was a bit rushed and disjointed (/ducks from bricks), but it wasn't terrible enough that I didn't enjoy the show. I'm quite glad we're jumping into things, also the one-winged eagle symbol is awesome. |

I have the vague impression that they would call us elitists or something. But yes, it would spare us from a lot of contradictory and possible spoiler~ish talk. (And for heavens, I don't mean to spoil anyone. There are plenty of series where I didn't read the original source material and was spoilered by those who did, so I do understand the anime viewers' POV.) | Or the vn players should just talk about the anime. I played the vn too, but if an information like Kyrie's identity is not revealed it's a spoil even if we learn it in the beginning of the vn. The episode was good, I was impressed by Jessica's yell. |
| Creepy Maria is creepy. WTF I was expecting seeing the family getting killed 1 by 1 not a complete slaughter at the beginning. I don't know why they even bother put them in the OP. Guess it's going to be a 12 episodes series. |

| Oh boy, this nerdrage is delicious, but I didnt expect anything else. I liked it very much and I think it was a good adaption, of course you cant capture every single detail of the VN because this show would need at least 100 eps that way. Im just watching this to see my favourite scenes animated, thats all, I dont care if its not perfect, I have the VN for that :3 |

Too much opposition from two completely different types of viewers. Just create a megathread or something for VN readers, and leave the people new to the series to these threads. | I also think the VN-people need to be a little bit more cautions. The episode was good. Not much to complain about. Only two points: - 6 deaths already and we didn't get much to see of some of these 6 guys. I even have a hard time to remember which persons those 6 are. I mean Shanon and Battler's parents and the cook and Krause, but the 6th is not there in my mind, therefore it might have really been a bit too fast when a non-VN viewer can't even remember everyone that was killed after only 2 episodes. - Battler's reaction seemed really unreal. I mean his parents were killed. A long time he did nothing and then he let out a scream that was not really convincing and kind of strange. Really, that reaction felt wrong. Totally forced. On another note, I really hope there is an interesting plot, because right now judging from the text underneath the painting it seems like one after the other is getting killed until Bea emerges and has some interactions with Battler judging from the OP. I mean since you already know about more killings, that's kind of totally anticlimactic and boring. I hope there is some more to this show. |

| Pretty nicely done. I was extremely concerned about how they were gonna censure the first twilight, but it seemed well done too me. Thing is iv'e been getting mixed up with scenes from ep 1, 2 and 3 so going through the events again is confusing me a bit. I just read through the thread and i see no problem from the VN readers (me being one). There hasn't been a single spoiler. there is honestly no reason they would keep Kyrie's position and the name Ange a secret so it must have just been scenes they didn't have time for (which will make it hard on them when their gonna need to bring it up), hence no spoilers. And seeing how the BGM was one of the main points to the game it's a given that people who've played will want to bring it up. But i guess all it takes is 1 pissed off person bitching to tern the whole thread upside down -_- |

I have to say that as a VN player, I didn't remember them at first either. But thank God the games have a list of the characters where the time and cause of death is stated. | far too rushed... many good scenes that rushed like george-shannon scene, turn back the chessboard scene, beatrice gold scene and many more... i'm a lil dissapointed, but the gore is good !! yeah !! |
