| Meh. First episode alone didn't quite live up to the expectations I had for it, but it IS the first episode. I'll keep watching this to see where it goes. |

| So, the animation is great since this is a GAINAX anime, and the ED by Angela is wonderful as usual. The start is a little slow but very intriguing and promising, and I already like the two main characters. I'll follow this show closely, for sure ! |

| I agree with the majority here, I was also disappointed with this, and it's a shame because I was really looking forward to it. I hope they explain the talking cat next episode. D: Although, I thought the fight scene part where the evil shikabane was pushed into the purple neon sign was cool. I look forward to hearing the angela songs next week. :) |

| Hmm. Nothing really stood out to me, but it is by Gainax so... I'll watch this till it ends most likely. :) Ep got 4/5 from me, mainly because the animation was pretty good. |

| well, that was good. i didn't have too many expectations on this, but i guess i found it really good. although, i expect great animation, and story by gainax. the art was pretty good, i liked it i also found the main girl's VA rather plain sometimes. she could have done a better job. the main guy was ok. no OP yet, sadly the story seems promising, i think i will like it once it grows on me. lol @ ecchi magazines put in by force xD i found the girl at school a little cute... though, not too moe... the main girl... the shikabane girl that is, was rather cute.. when she wasnt shown with a lot of injuries. poor guy... to let go of so much stuff, and have a girl slap him in less than 10 mins.... and cat talking too... though... why DID she slap him... she seemed to be smiling... girls with guns is kinda hard to fail me... so... i liked it. i got interested in what will happen next... i really want to see next episode... lastly, yay for lunar for picking this up. |

Felt the same way. For me it was mediocre at best. 3/5 If the next two episodes follow lead of the first, straight to drop it goes. |
| I'm very "meh" about it myself. The premise itself could be interesting and I like the bit with the older brother and the Shikabane hime and wonder what kind of relationship they have, but both the characters and the first episode's plot seem to be too generic. I have a question for you though (please don't laugh): you keep saying "it's from Gainax, so I'll give it another chance." But Gainax is only adapting this story from a manga, so it (the story) isn't theirs, yet you treat it as if they were the ones writing it. *is confused* Why is that? |

| the first episode was enjoyable, gotta admit expectations were high when Gainax's last production was a massive hit, this ain't no tengen toppa gurren lagann for sure. you would be disappointed if you are expecting this to be but any anime that manages to make me laugh even for a bit is a keeper. |

| You are all so disappointed. Oh woe woe... Maybe you shouldn't have had so high expectations then, huh? I thought it'll suck a lot but after first ep i can that it isn't so bad. And it's much better than harem crap. It's like "bottle is half full/half empty" situation. Everything depends on how you look at it. And show feels like Hellsing (TV version for me) somehow. And i've been craving for this wonderful feeling for ages. 4½ out of 5 for me. |

| A pretty mediocre start, but that's just how GAINAX shows are, they don't usually start of with a bang. The actions scenes weren't that impressive though Makina using Uzis was reminiscent of that one episode of FLCL where Naota is having a duel with his old man for Haruko's heart. lol. |

| not very impressive =^= I was more interested in doodling on a piece of paper that actually paying attention to what was going on... BORING start. I'll give it a few more episodes. If it goes on like this >__> might put on-hold and wait to see what other people have to say about it. |

| Hmm they seem to be deviating from the manga storyline by including that kid in there. I can't remember his name since he doesn't really look all that important... Well whatever the manga's pretty decent. Plot is simple yet kickass. Take a 'zombie' girl, have her kill other zombies with her monk sidekick, repeat the same formula for each arc, profit? |

| love the animation. people say it's not living to their expectation because it was too high... For me, it surpassed my expectations that were pretty low. this series reminded how fall season are alwayas miles better than summer seasons.... |

| Well, I just don't get it. I had high expectations too, but because of the opinions I heard that the first episode was disappointing, I lowered my expectations, but for no real reason I guess. This first episode was pretty darn good in my opinion. Let things get going. This was an obvious introduction episode, setting up the basic story and the characters, that deviated from a couple of possible cliched outcomes. The first episode of TTGL had SPLOSIONS, lots of good Yoko moments and awesome GAR-ness and all, but I like this more subtle approach that Gainax took here. I will agree that Ga Rei Zero was so much better in the action and soundtrack department though. Hopefully things can improve there. |
| Well that was...disappointing. I never liked Gainax to begin with, but I was honestly looking forward to this anime and it fell way below my expectations. I was hoping the action would be more a bit more, "exciting"? Then again, it's only the first ep, so I can't complain. |

With the animation sticking poorly in my mind, and the first episode of a 13 ep series not really drawing me in, I think I'm going to just leave this one. Plus, I haven't read the manga so I don't really have anything to look forward to. |

| Ok~... I know this is not Gurren Lagann, but I'm feeling the dissapointment is caused because you were expecting preciselly that. Animation is good, sound is good and this is the best non-sequel anime I'm watching for the season. So I won't drop it, not because "I have faith" in Gainax, but because it's not bad. And who knows, it may get better and better (happens with Gainax...) |
| Really liked the first episode. The comedy parts were placed really well. The character designs were a little odd, but I think the story was done very well. I will be sticking with this one. |

| It was more or less what I expected. Fluid action and a stylish battle sequence at the end. It didn't deliver anything that was wow worthy, or jaw dropping, but the episode was quite enjoyable and I felt it was a fun watch. The show lacks some serious charm and a good hook to get people to watch. It seems the whole, cute girl with big guns market has long since been overplayed, but I think the overall consensus is that "we were expecting more." With so many negatives working against it, it's going to be hard for people to simply just watch it and enjoy it for what it is. Entertainment. It didn't really push any envelopes, but it wasn't a terrible episode either. This episode played it safe, and gave us elements that we are all familiar with. Hopefully we will see some better material to come in future episodes. It wasn't bad though, it really wasn't. |

| i thought it was ok. wasn't totally impressed. not as bloody/gory as i thought it would be. Animation was pretty nice though. You could defintely tell from the style that it was done by Gainex. |
