And also because most of these romance anime are more about finding "true love", instead of simply dating and boning, which is what you usually find in western movies and tv shows. |

| Anime is exercise in extremes. And absurdities. Ecchi harem anime have a little issue with showing you naked woman body (assuming you are watching an uncensored version, otherwise steam and beam of light), but have a huge issues with actually imply a sex even if it is not shown onscreen! Shown on screen is hentai, no argue on that, but point is they avoid even a direction of plot. Name some iconic ecchi harem show? Can't have sex ever is common trope among those. Those are publishers rules. If you imply that, your show won't get out. Or is somehow restricted and you will get less money. Shows like Yosuga No Sora are considered scandalous. Even without a whole incest thing, that's make it even worse, but actual direction of the story is a big no-no for most non-hentai anime. Note that this show isn't hentai, rating is same as it is for average ecchi show while hentai comes in separate category. |

| The only few anime I've watched with sex scenes are Crimson Wolf, Tokyo Revelation 1994, and Highlander: The Search For Vengeance. |

| Neon Genesis Evangelion had a sex scene I am pretty sure but it was implied or well you couldnt see the action. |

| Sekaiichi Hatsukoi has pretty Hollywood-esque sex scenes in it. Rin Daughters of Mnemosyne has sex, but it's a dumb and fanservicey kind. Requiem for the Phantom has a pretty legit sex scene as well. And it's only there to show you that 2 characters are having a fling. Also there's that episode in Parasyte. So like hardly any sexytimes. I think it's weird. The whole "sex sells" thingy seems to only apply to fanservice in anime rather than actual sex scenes. Maybe its the cultural aversion to sex. |
