Was gonna say this. Ginko's been in life threatening situations quite a bit lately. Show needs more Ginko being badass.

Oh man, I hope so. The end sequence where he was like 'Look who's talking' cracked me up.

And I don't get how calm he was about getting stabbed - I was like D8!!!!!!!

I love how creepy this episode is, really.

But the mother is just sad. Pouring child love for something that isn't even human. Hope after she isn't infected anymore she can bear her own human child and forget the mushi.

Getting stabbed made a good variety. Talking Mushi companion is interesting.

And I just realized I skipped episode 20 by accident.

Creepiest shit I've ever seen.

But it's a wonder ... how parents can come to love their 'child' despite it being a green gooey thing.

Its like Roald Dahl says in the opening lines of his book 'Matilda', and I quote:

It's a funny thing about mothers and father. Even when their own child is the most disgusting little blister you could ever imagine, they still think he or she is wonderful

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a deliberate reference by the mangaka/writer to this social phenomenon that majority of parents across the globe seem to exhibit, given how there have been other subtle allusions elsewhere in the anime.

This is one of the thought-provoking episodes I've ever seen. It has some mix of suspense and thrill.

Ginko sure has straight decision in killing the children though he thought of much slower way to make the parents understand.

And what's more hard to decide when those children talked about not killing them and questioning Ginko's motive.

What an interesting conversation :)

Also, I would probably understand Aki's actions in attempt to kill Ginko
but hell yeah, he's the kindest man I've ever seen.
After being stabbed, he was like, "Ok. I want to leave here." lol

The end was something confusing yet satisfying. I hope we can see some talking slimes next time. xD

This has to be the most disturbing episode I’ve seen. It was absolutely amazing, it left me in suspense at every moment; I surely won’t forget about it anytime soon.

I actually panicked when Ginko was stabbed.

…Parents love their children no matter what they are, don’t they…?
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

That's gotta be the weirdest ep yet. I had a WTF face on the entire time.

At least the eerie-ish music at the end perfectly matched the blatant weirdness of this episode. I, too, was kind of shocked when Ginko got stabbed. When the screen just showed her grabbed him, I thought she was just trying to hold him back - it didn't even occur to me that he could have been stabbed... d'oh.

You know, I think Ginko should have destroyed them the first time... She could try to have another child, one that won't cause her grief.

But nice episode. I was worried when Ginko was stabbed. T_T

I'm re-watching Mushishi and I was dreading this episode.

I'm pretty much fine with everything, just not creepy babies, it was a naive mistake to entrust the parents with killing the Mushi.

I wondered a lot how can the mother love such beings, but then I remembered, we only saw their unusual behaviors in the episode, we didn't see the moments where they acted like normal children, but still she's crazy, and her husband's reactions were priceless.

Wonderful episode as usually. So I am assuming the mushishi child is Ginko's campanion now? either way one of the creepier episodes, and when Ginko got stabbed I was actually quite shocked.

For the first time, I'm not sure what Ginko did was right or wrong.
My logic says that he did the right thing, the thing that would at some point make the family happy again or at least not make it more painful for them.
On the other hand it was ethically wrong to "steal" their baby and lie to them, even though it was the best thing for them.
I like it, sometimes people don't know what is best for them and therefore you must lie to them, so that they may live happy...

Holy shish, that was effin' tragic. A mushi that kills an unborn baby and then makes copies of that baby to gather food for itself? And if threatened, it will try to play with your emotions and burn your house down? JESUS.
