Akane and Kana's scene was dragged a lot, but in a good way that is.

I can't help it, I find it too ridiculous how they depict lil kids to be capable/smart enough to understand how the grown-ups world works while in grade school. And Akane starting to learn psychology same age too.

Anyways, another great episode. We'll see if Kana can let go of her past in the next episode I assume.

A solid episode. A really good performance by them. We got to see Akane and Kana's backstory and how they came to be. Don't be mean to little Akane, Kana-chan. But, I've personally seen such staged auditions. They're so fake and painful. I felt that part.

Holy shit this show is just so insanely good.

I do think the idea that these kids are such perfect actors they can chose to "act bad" to support the play is a bit funny though.

Goddamn is the 2.5D revolving theatre thing so interesting depicted in an animated format, now I want to see the real thing too someday!

I'm loving this Kana and Akane's confrontation, especially seeing the backstory that led Akane to hate Kana and study her psychology which makes sense now.
It's like we're getting a 2nd stage play inside the stage play, it's more and more interesting.

Last episode, we got to see Melt Narushima's back story. This time, we got to see Akane Kurokawa's back story. Especially about Akane's interactions with Kana. We all know, Akane has idolized Kana since she was very small, she really wanted to be like Kana. What is one piece of evidence? Akane even entered the world of showbiz just because she liked Kana. However, all of that was lost when Akane first met Kana. That was also the time when Kana, the genius child actor, began to lose her popularity.

Kana tried her best to bring out the "true" Arima, but it wasn't enough. Now Aqua's here to help. No doubt with Aqua present Arima will give in to him lol.

Also can't get enough of Kana's pouting hahaha

Next scene of Tokyo Blade and Arima does ad-lib. The scene turns to Arima vs Akane, where they fight on both sides, as characters as well as actors.

After seeing Akane and Arima’s past, I can say that Akane hates Arima a bit because she didn’t know her, but she’s understanding her now. It’s not Arima’s fault for behaving like that, because she seemed to be having a tough phase at that time. Now, she just wants to be needed, so she plays along, catering to the needs. But Akane wants her to do her own style of acting, which is not easy to bring out after all the hardships Arima went through.

Aqua notices Arima’s acting, and he decides to bring her true acting nature out along with Akane.

Very riveting performances, I really wanna watch a SceneAround play IRL now!!

Also very smart way of using the duels in the play for the characters to sort out their inner conflicts!

The mid-season slump is too real. The 2 episodes of the actual play are so boring, and the plot is now progressing slower than ever. I hope the rest of the season picks back up again.

What a rival Akane is. Kana shutting her down like that must have really rocked her world view for her to go and study psychology books for the rest of her life.

If Kana wants to support the other actors rather then shine herself, I think some reverse psychology will need to be done here!

I got way more respect for Akane after this episode, I could feel rivalry and I dig it! I am starting to root more and more for her :3
I felt bad for Kana though, she definitely did not had it easy, I feel for her.

Seeing an anime portray a stage play is just the coolest thing. I love seeing acting within acting, where IRL seiyuu have to act as a character, and then that character has to act as another character. It's such a challenging way of acting, where you have to indwell within multiple layers of characters. How does the seiyuu think the character should act? How should the character think their in-universe fictional character should act? How does the seiyuu think the character should think about the in-universe fictional character? To combine all of that into a single performance is a mark of incredible skill from a writing, visual, and vocal perspective. To add onto all that, I love Oshi no Ko's visual representation of everyone's internal struggles, particularly some of the choice cuts like when Kana was internally running towards B Komachi feeling confident in her skills, only to be met with a hard cut back to Akane in-character standing in her way. The cut was so jarring, lightning fast, and violent. Little things like that are just so cool to me.

I love the backstory and the relationship between Akane and kana! Though it seems the real climax between them is the next episode. First half was still nice progression of the play, with different characters chiming in to say that so-and-so is really good at acting

A fantastic look into both Akane and Kana's characters and methods of acting, as well as an interesting take on the parts of lead and supporting actors and the psych behind them. Really great episode and I'm glad both characters got time to shine! Crazy how at the start of the episode I was wishing to finish this arc out so we can get back to idol stuff, but each time it blows me out of the water

meh, s1 was more enjoyable, i'm not enjoying this play at all, it's way too long with way too much unnecessary drama that is somehow tied into their motivation to act good? wtf
