Anyways, I actually reviewed the last game I beat on my profile but I'll copy the review here anyway. I'm trying to get into the habbit of reviewing all my video games I beat b/c my memory is crappy and if few years go by I forget a lot of the details after beating most games.
Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) - Completed 7/22/15 - Rating: 9/10
This was an incredibly fun game! I beat it in about 77 hrs , that was doing mostly main quest too, so its a very long game.
This is a rpg yes, the story I would say was very solid but not amazing, baring some crazy stuff that happens at near the end of the game and a few interesting surprises. It might be because I've played a number of JRPGs already that I can see tropes and guess events really well, although there were still a few surprises that I didn't see coming at all. The story does suffer from being very late game heavy, in the sense that the story seems fairly simplistic and somewhat unimpressive to me, until I got at least to the last half of the game where the more exciting developments start taking place. The main playable characters were a little on the underwhelming side, and I usually found myself more interested in the villains and various other characters that you meet throughout the game.
The best parts about this game were definitely the artwork , the music, and the sense of epic scale. I don't think I've ever played a game where music and settings for levels meshed so well together. The levels you traverse are so detailed , quite different from eachother, and so painstakingly rendered I found myself on multiple occasions just stopping and panning the camera around to admire the scenery. And this is a non-HD game made for a very underpowered Nintendo Wii system compared to other video game consoles of that generation! Music score was excellent , great that there's at least two unique songs for most areas of the game is amazing. The soundtrack in general is so good I added most of the songs to my phone music library already. This game also was great at achieving a sense of scale and epicness while you go through different territories that I've never experienced the likes of before in a video game. This is hard to explain in words, you really have to play the game or look at a boatload of scenic pictures of the game to understand what I mean!
The combat system was very fun in my opinion if not extraordinary though.
EDIT....hopefully xenoblade chornicles x will be near as good. Xenogears was awesome too, played it summer 2011. Right now I'm playing xenosaga ep 1 (notice a trend here?) lol |
