The only other ones that have that same formula are Photokano as Motion mentioned (which isn't very good) and then Yosuga no Sora which I actually liked but it seemed like most people didn't, they were most likely thrown off or just got plain butt-hurt about how there's soft-core porn in their anime. No, I'm not kidding and yes the anime sometimes walks the tightrope between hentai and ecchi in the middle of a tornado.

You can try Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai (which you already have on your plan to watch list) and Midori no Hibi. Admittedly, both are strange (though the latter is much more strange than the former) but I thought that they were both good and cute.

well I personally believe this to be a survival anime and probably one of the best I've seen in a while. It's called Basilisk: the Kouga ninja scrolls. though it may not have a psychological edge to it, it is quite thrilling to see how everything plays out.

I would recommend High School of the Dead. If you aren't deterred by excessive fanservice, then it really is an awesome series. Just go into it with the right mindset and you'll enjoy it more.

Hello everyone, nice to meet you.
In the last few months I've watched quite a bunch of different anime shows but now for the first time in half a year, I feel kinda lost and have no clue what to watch next. Even tough i''ve got over 100 shows on my plan to watch list, I cant find anything that really catches my attention. I've watched a few of the shows where everyone says that they're absolutely fantastic (like Angel beats or toradora). And even though I really was enjoying them, something was missing.
I really miss the feeling of being drawn into a show where you always wanna watch more and can't stop until it's finished. So I thought maybe you guys could help me with my problem to find a show which won't let you go until it's finished. Pls feel free to take a look on my list and recommend me anything that comes to your mind :)

I'm Sorry for this wall of text and
Thanks a lot in advance.

Let's see , I want something really interesting anime , where you can't predict what'll happen next or just enjoyable anime with random comedy.
Preferably if character development is also great.

some examples:

Interesting ones -

Enjoyable anime with random comedy -

Hope you get the idea and don't reccommend Hyouka , I'll get to it eventually.

How about Hyouk- just kidding. :P

I can't recommend a show fulfilling the first criterion of being unpredictable right now but concerning the second one- random comedy, that is- I'd say pick up InuxBoku SS from your plan-to-watch list and give it a shot. If it's known for anything then it's random but surprisingly hilarious comedic moments. Haiyore Nyaruko-san W would be an option too but given the score you gave to its predecessor I'm not too sure.

Haiyore was fine , just the female lead annoyed me. She loved the male lead for no reason and was unreasonably persistant.

Not necessary it has to be unpredictable , just interesting is the biggest point.

Psycho-Pass fits the first three categories but not the last two, it's a sci-fi and it was the first thing that came to mind since you're already watching Fate/Zero and Shinsekai Yori. Another one that kinda fits into those categories is Ookami Kodomo which is a slice of life movie about parental love and it's really good, currently being #11 on MyAnimeList's top 30 anime of all time. There isn't really much action but I found it really easy to get attached to the characters.

EDIT: OMG how could I forget about Steins;Gate?! That one fulfills all those categories and it's really good (one of my personal favorites).

  • Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou basically it's Nichijou but with guys. I lovingly nickname it Nichibros.
  • Acchi Kocchi. Pretty funny and has mild romance but is mostly just comedy. Everything seems to be cat-related in that show, but that's probably all because of Tsumiki.
  • Binbougami ga! really freaking funny and has references all over the place. It's a parody anime for the most part but there's actually character development.
  • Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai is really funny but the second season gets a bit more serious than the first.

That should give you a good start. If you've seen those already, update your list and we'll help you out again :)

@TheBiggles

A bit of a tricky one, the art style for Katanagatari is reasonably unique, vivid colours with edgy humor, you are probably looking at anime typical from Shaft with some of the more notable ones being Arakawa Under the Bridge, the Monogatari series (which you have already seen) and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

If you are looking for a show with similar art that also encompasses the martial arts aspects aswell then i can't really say, it seems like a difficult thing to look for, from personal experience this kind of art style is more present in comedies. Hopefully you find something that you like from these though.

Joshiraku, The Tatami Galaxy or Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita.

I am watching Arakawa Under the Bridge, xxxHolic and FLCL too but I kinda want to drop the first one.

I also finish a good one but forget its name. It's 10ep with a girl that leaves home and starts a journey with two guys (the girl can use some sort of magic).
Hopefully someone knows the name of it.

Anime shows that talk about finance . . . It would be Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. But do not expect it to be as great as Spice and Wolf.
If you mean you are searching for romance anime shows that really focus on the romance aspect(I do not know what do you mean by clean), then I recommend Kotoura-san, Toradora!, Myself ; Yourself, Ano Natsu de Matteru, Nyan Koi!, Midori no Hibi, Nazo no Kanojo X, Mayo Chiki!Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, sola, & Romeo x Juliet.

Atmosphere wise, Fractale reminds me of Ghibli movies, in particular Howl's Moving Castle. If you're looking at it from the perspective of a colorful sci-fi with darker undertones and cute character design, I would suggest Gargantia, although the latter has had a slice-of-life/world building/character focus so far.
Eureka Seven and Last Exile are similar in various way too.

TheBiggles said:

I would recommend trying other shows from SHAFT you have yet to watch. Quirky character design, interesting angles, somewhat minimalist approach to backgrounds is part of their trademark.
Also, you could try Samurai Champloo.

You are talking about Hatenkou Yuugi.

You can try Welcome to NHK, Moyashimon, Detroit Metal City, Panty and Stocking, Joshiraku.
Not really dark comedy, but Kyon's comments in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya own.
