The list of LN and anime related books is short this week. |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

I have absolutely no clue what to think. Lots of series on that list are ending. So for series like Sket Dance (177k), Kaichou wa Maid-sama! (107k), Initial D (134k), etc., to have such numbers on their final volumes is just... mixed feelings? Are these good sales for the final volumes? I mean, it's great that they were able to get onto the top 30 sales wise BUT it's just... when you see ALL of Shingeki No Kyojin volumes on the list with all but one hitting the 1.5mil mark... it's just wow. No competition. Initial D has been running for YEARS and for one of it's final volumes to not even be anywhere close to Shingeki is just crazy. I know they are from different genres and have different demographics but STILL. The contrast! And then there's just series that have disappointed me. I don't follow 'em but their sales are just sad. Bleach is nearing it's climax and only hit the 400k mark. Toriko, the series that publishers are trying to replace Bleach (or at the very least supposedly marketing heavily) only hit the 200k mark, Kuroko No Basuke hit the 400k mark.... Are these good sales? For shounen? :( And of course One Piece kicks ass. I'd prefer it if it was number 1 considering I'm an OP fan more than a Shingeki fan but considering in 3 days it sold over 1.5mill I just CANT be anything but satisfied. Shingeki only gets 1.5 though hard work and through weekly sales combined while OP can get it in less than one week. Goes to show OP is still King :D Either way, good for Shingeki for keeping up and dominating as number two. |

Initial D doesn't quite fit in that sense. It's an awesome series though. Plus it's been around for a long time now. SnK is doing well, but I doubt it will sell the same amount after a year or few. It's just that the anime is boosting up its popularity right now. Although it could also sell like Naruto or FMA. Bleach... well. Climax or not it has been going downhill to be honest. I expect OP to stay at the top of the charts until it is finished... Though right now it is nowhere near its peak sales of 4mil + back during the war arc I believe. Those times made me grin when it kept breaking sale records. :D Plus what you see on these charts is what you see out of many, many series being published. Getting on the charts = selling well. |

Not surprised about Shingeki no Kyojin, it's really the big thing right now. And more ppl (like me) who only watched the anime are buying the older volumes. Actually at the bookstore I got spoiled about the manga by a little girl (seriously, she couldn't have been more than 8!!) who was telling her older sister what's going on in the manga... >_<; damn spoilers aside, I am not sure what to think about a little girl reading such a gory manga.. wow xD; Oh and today on the train I pulled out my SnK manga exactly the same time the woman next to me pulled out hers.. we had a laugh :) |
