| Tbh, I think Monica made a decent choice for her elective courses. She's also selected to compete in chess so this was an open opportunity for her to show those chess skills. Got more flashbacks too. Seems this anime never strays away from letting us know about Monica herself more. |

| What an arrogant prick. This Bunny was just helping her to feel good but as soon as she surpassed him he started mocking her. The guy just wants to feel better then others and can't tolerate being surpassed by others. Hopefully Monica will humiliate him at the chess competition and realise the guy is not worth worrying about. It was nice to see that Monica received help from her friends tho. |
| Poor Monica. I wonder how many genuinely happy memories she has of her past? Her father was brutally executed for some bullshit, she got horribly bullied in school, and her only “friend” turned out to be an insecure little cockweasel. She even got forced to be a Sage! Girl got brought in, curtain and all lol. At least life seems to be slightly better now. She seems to have people who genuinely care about her. Nero and Ryn really saved the day with their little double act. I love those two. They really executed that scene from the book perfectly. No notes lol. I hope she destroys Bernie so she can put that unpleasantness behind her. Guy still seems like a wanker. Idk, maybe he’s changed but I have my doubts… |

They don't need to go that hard with the directing during Benjamin's scene. 😤 The dining table feels empty without Casey. :( Yeah, I can understand jealousy, but Bernie making Monica cry is just scumbag and inexcusable. So he was the boy who lived rent-free in Monica's head and made her undervalue herself several episodes ago. Should he get his Anime Planet database, he will already get those 100 thumbs down. Props to Akeno Watanabe for making us hate him more! I love Megane Monica, but she reminded me of that braided b**** from Koe no Katachi oop Massive W for both Ryn and Nero for being great sidemen for Monica. Isabelle clears ahead, though. |

| Finally, Bernie is here, the guy in the flashback. This episode is a mix of the fun oarts as well as the drama. Too bad Bridgette is underutilised in this adaptation. She should be the mean girl. |

| It hurt to see Monica being bullied. She saw Bernie as a friend, but he was such a jerk. It made me so angry when he blamed Monica for becoming one of the sages while he didn’t—he was incredibly arrogant. And even after Monica thanked him for everything he taught her, he still rejected her. That’s why Monica went to live in a cabin deep in the forest in the first episode—because of Bernie’s harsh words. Nero and Ryn are the best spirits. The way they defended Monica with their fake love triangle act was brilliant. |

| Nice getting some more Monica lore, Honestly her having a "friend" in her old school was super surprising. But really he's arrogance was the downfall of their friendship. Idk what will happen next episode but I feel like it won't end in them becoming friends again. and like I mean hell if he wanted he could just expose that she's one of the seven sages, but I guess for now he isn't aware that its the Monica from his past. Lana is seriously such a W friend though always unconditionally helping her. Far better than Bernie |
| Glasses Monica with hair down so much different it's weird. Still very cute. I want to defend Bernie slightly he was Monica's only friend and always helped her when needed, I get jealousy but way too harsh making poor girl cry and indirectly pushing her to reclusivity. He probably did regret it later and will apologise to Monica in coming episode. Atleast I hope that happens. She deserves to be happy. Lana (with Isabelle) lowkey MVP of the series. Amazing comedy from Nero and Ryz. They don't look lovers more like cheap rented fuck boys. | “They wanna see you doing good, but not better than them” is the perfect way to sum up this episode. Bernie dumbass really got the nerve to get jealous over Monica surpassing him and becoming one of the seven mages when he should’ve been glad to have been such an instrumental part of a seven mage’s development. Like to me that’s just as cool as being in the group, but of course, his insecurity wouldn’t let him be happy for Monica and instead he took it out on her. She didn’t think he was beneath her, HE did. The fact that Monica even after all this time, is still happy to speak to and see him just tells you everything you need to know about her. She’s such a genuinely beautiful soul who deserves nothing but the best. Lana does too. That was such a sweet idea to give Monica a makeover and help her feel more comfortable at the match!! Monica looks so gorgeous and you can see her becoming more confident with the glasses and everything. Just feels like a way to mask her insecurities and be comfortable in her skin for once. I love the personality shift! Of course, you can never truly change who you are so Bernie was still able to peep something’s off with her, but s/o to Nero and Rynz for coming in clutch there. I would love to see Monica getting a little harem actually lol Can’t wait for next episode, I wanna see Bernie getting shown the fuck up and preferably by Monica in her normal appearance, embracing who she is and not trying to make an insecure loser like him feel comfortable. |

| I haven't been impressed with the last few episodes, but this one somehow got me looped back in. These "troubled reunion" plotlines really get to me. As obvious as the Bernie setup was, I still got interested in what happens next. And I could see myself in poor Monica---I've also been in her position, standing in front of a bathroom mirror trying to not freak out, doing my best to relax my shaking fingers in the middle of a tournament where there are people I do not want to face for reasons unrelated to the competition itself. Super specific and personal, I guess, but I'll definitely tune into whatever happens next week. |

Monica went full squirrel mode while remembering her past with Bernie and both Nero and the maid contributed to the laughs, specially in that last scene. Man, now I want to watch it again. |
