So this might just be the first war in history where someone will win posthumously. I mean, come on, these kids trying to match military vets in battle strategy? Was always zero chance. With bodies dropping left and right, and the scale of operation Stanley's crew was carrying out, you'd expect the US crew on the other side to stop Senku’s squad from tinkering with Medusa tech. But hey, we needed this plot convenience. Albeit, the crew did get stopped, but yeah, that was a bit late xD

Btw, let’s be real, nobody’s actually staying dead. This isn’t that kind of anime. You could always smell that big “radio miracle moment” coming, but man, was it not damn well executed. All of them were so ready to drop dead for the greater good. They literally pressed the reset button on humanity and stoned the whole planet, or at least it has started, AGAIN. Peak definition of a “grand plan” lol.

Been waiting for this payoff, and yeah, it landed. Next one will be even more epic. Just can't wait!

Leaving aside the usual with what’s to come, I’m just here impressed by the crazy turn of events! After last episode, I’d a feeling we’d be getting the big showdown before the season finale and boy, I’m so glad that’s right. If it were to be dragged on for another 3 eps, that’d thrown every ounce of rationality out the window. This way, at least there’s an argument to be made that Kohaku and the strongest 21st century teenager might have just made it to the 12th hour xD.

Jokes aside, now the question is who was that in the end? Can’t be a broken recorder from the moon that keeps uttering that right? The entirety of Earth’s diameter covered though so strong chance of that, I surmise. Can’t be Senku there besides there was no indication of potable secondary communication device too.

Phew, can’t wait to see what’s next in store!

@Niwaka-Samurai Oh right, that’s why the whole moon excursion trip came up! I totally forgot, thanks for reminding, lol. It’d been a season not up to the usual standards for a bit but then blitz its way back to the highs of the show, so I’m just a little taken aback I think.

That was the Whyman's voice that kept on transmitting towards the Earth. Our Science team found that when they established radio wave communication for the first time few seasons back. It was similar to Senku's voice that left them perplexed.

Don't you remember!?

This truly was our Dr. Stone. Dare I say it the best episode of the entire series to this point? The tension, stakes, the feeling of hopelessness gradually being overcome by the power of science and the youth science team’s resilience in the face of impossible odds. This had it all and I was on the edge of my seat even as a manga reader, just felt like no way out for our guys and their faith in senku and one another ended up being the determining factor. Just seeing everyone getting mowed down by Stanley’s forces and the sheer look of terror on Senku and everyone’s faces…they really sold that this was a final stand

Joel being the most important recruitment to this point and literally saving the day as the least athletic of the bunch is really cool. Seemed like all hope was lost until he got his hand on the Medusa and the irony of why man being the one to save humanity this time after trying to wipe it out before.. brilliant episode. It was just a cool culmination of everything we’ve worked for in this series to this point, all the connections, all the inventions, all paid off today. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Absolutely amazing!

What a stunning turn of events that was !!

Everyone was ready to commit suicide believing in Dr.Stone 😭🔥🔥❤️‍🔥💥

Joel saved everybody's asses just in the nick of time. And that Whyman's voice was a game changer..the voice that turned them into stone and the voice that would save them by turning them into stone once again.

@Marinate1016 for the first time I saw that look of 'all is lost' on Senku's face when the diamonds were destroyed in the explosion. But Chrome making a badass speech followed by Joel's breakthrough.. simply amazing 💥💥

Great episode, intense and well thought out like always but i just don't understand two things, i didn't get the diamond splitting in half being the reason the device works can anyone explain? second is the Why Man message, did Senku make his own that loops just before he was supposedly shot?

Anyhow 3 more episodes for this season to end (it's not the finale if i'm right?) i can't even picture what will happen i just hope our characters will come back :')

Damn. This episode was brutal. Everyone was getting shot left and right. But no one died instantly. Because if they did they probably can't be revived by petrification lol. That's convenient.

But wow. They're petrifying the whole world again? How's that gonna work? Who can use the revival fluid if there's no one left? Don't tell me, there's going to be another massive time jump?! That'd be fucking crazy. But it'd also be another race against time between who reawakens first, Senku's team or Xeno's team? If that happens it'd be so fucking crazy. Really can't wait to see what happens.

called it once again. like literally.

it's not necessary to make it this much desperate dawg.
and what the fuck was that defeating gunned soldiers all the way to the vault room and not picking up their guns face the American engineer?

and the new device got enough juice to engulf the whole world? and why's there millions of them in south america then?

guess next episode gonna be senku making a nitric acid pouring timer contraption.

surely there won't be an another 4 thousand year time skip.

Quite the tonal whiplash. Even tho everyone will be "resurrected", I think they overdid it just a little bit. Great episodes anyways.

@ultramb First of all, South America, not Africa. Second, Whyman sent a shitton of Medusas in order to make sure that no one could escape the petrification. They explained this a few episodes ago.

Brutal and heartbreaking to see them fall one by one.

I couldn't hold back: each of them had a moment that left a lump in my throat, almost crying. Chelsea already knew that what Senkuu wanted was for them to escape and survive, and it tore her up inside. Luna also broke down when she realized it, thinking of Senkuu, Carl and Max, and it showed that, even if they called her a coward, she wouldn't run away. She would stay with them until the end.

Kaseki and Joel shone brightly: their hard work paid off, I love how despite Joel's arrogance he also gave credit to Kaseki, without even meeting him in person. And with all these defeats, Gen finally told Senkuu the truth: Kohaku, Tsukasa and Hyoga gave them one last chance for an all or nothing. Kohaku's last words were Senkuu's name? Senkuu x Kohaku forever.

I was so excited to see Magma struggling to open the chamber, Joel activating the voice command, and everyone fighting because they believe in Senkuu and science. Taiju desperately trying to buy time by throwing grenades back: pure courage in the chaos. Fuck, what an episode. Holy crap.

Even knowing they were going to die, they never stopped fighting for that long awaited victory, using the same light that once destroyed humanity.

@ropiel The diamonds are supposed to be a bit weaker in the center, such that energy courses through that specific part of the diamond. Think like how energy runs through a battery or wire in a specific way in order to have power, this is how it in theory works for the diamond. It's not that the diamond should be split in half, it should be whole but with a weaker point in the center. They have to make it weak enough for energy to course through it, but not weak enough to immediately break in half before putting it in the medusa. That's why crafting them is such a challenge!

Also, back in season 3 it was established that Why Man was communicating using an almost "Vocaloid" style synthetic replication of Senku's voice for the "12,800,000 meters, 1 second" message. This message has been playing on repeat but they stopped tuning to that frequency because they didn't want the medusa to be accidentally triggered. Joel tuned his watch to that frequency at the last second :3

God DAMN i love this show so much. Every single plotline has lead to this moment. All the ends have been gather to be tied in this one beautiful knot. I shed many tears in this episode.

Some people might say 'Oh no one dies is such a cop out', but its not. This was already hinted at all the way back in season 2 when the depetrification was used to revive senku, and then again to save tsukasa. It is beautifully set up and executed.

We still have three more episodes to go and a few more questions to answer like who is Why-Man and where did the Medusas come from. And also how they are going to get depetrified. Luna and Chelsea are going to have to make some miracle work because theres no way they can do what Senku did back in S3.

Not sure about the diamond but from what I understand the Whyman's voice just continuously loops, from the previous season when they heard the voice for the first time they also discovered that it repeated at regular intervals. I assume it never stopped since that point.

i do remember the periodical activation part but i also remember a part saying something like devices combined their petrification radius to engulf the entire earth.

If I thought that the events in the previous episode was brutal, then this episode took the brutality to a whole different level. It's sad to see the characters that I enjoy so much getting savagely shot or blown up in this fashion. =(

Another thing that hits hard was how Chelsea broke down in tears, saying to Luna that they can't fight and that was before she had to stop Luna from going back to the base. Doing so definitely saved her life for sure.

Despite how bloody things got, Senku's group did get one huge breakthrough thanks to Joel finally succeeding in making an artificial Medusa. It was touch and go for a while, but Joel was able to get to the Medusa and thanks to his watch being a communication tool to relay back to Senku, it looks like the plan to re-enact the worldwide petrification is underway.

His plan might be hugely ambitious, but I do hope that this pays off for Senku. Anything to stop Stanley's onslaught is very welcome at this point!

I don't usually comment, but this episode was completely insane?? The twists, the stakes, everything was absolutely brilliant. I was a bit perplexed about this season, but last week's episode and this one are perhaps the best in the entire series.

I hope we'll not have to wait another 3000 years for them to be de-petrified.

This was truly our Doctor Stone, 5/5.

Even if (and hopefully) everyone manages to survive these last two episode has been so hard to watch, it is like watching a whole different show with all of our beloved characters getting annihilated like that, I can't decide who hurt the most because all of them were downed horribly, but the biggest surprise I have to say was Yuzuriha speech being half dead since she is the most distant from a combatant yet she was also there for the final attack, I guess it left a bigger impression since I'm also adding the way Taijuu died from that grenade and Gen losing it.

Sometime that hit me the most is when a super energetic and happy all around character can't even keep up with their optimism and breaks down, this time it was Chelsea when she was escaping alongside Luna.
