| My mom used to watch anime and read some manga. Sometimes when I visit her we still watch some movies. My dad didn't care for it. Dragon Ball and One Piece were the same thing to him. One time when I was watching Ranma 1/2 in the living room he noticed the nipples and wondered what the hell I am watching. My mom had to tell him to chill, it's just an anime 😂 That was sooo long ago and I still remember it vividly. Attack on Titan was ridiculously dramatic in his opinion. Cowboy Bepop seemed more up his alley. Lately he told me that he watched the first season of Spy x Family on Netflix and that he liked it. That was pretty unexpected to say the least. |

| My mom is the one who got me into anime, she watched it a lot before. My dad used to watch anime, the last anime I watched with him was Twelve Kingdoms. My mom really loves One Piece, one of her favs ever since I started with it. She loves Dragon Ball as well, Slam Dunk, Golden Kamuy, Ranma, Inuyasha, etc. |

But because my little brother also started watching anime they started to know more about it and nowadays they just see it as normal animation. | At first, my mom used to think it's all Pokemon, lol. And also that anime is the same as cartoon (aka for kids). But during COVID and the sudden blast in popularity of anime, she heard from her other female friends that their children were also getting into anime and then I explained her it's just animated form of entertainment, I told her to imagine what a live-action show would look like in her mind, but just animated instead of real actors and real scenery, and also that not all anime is Doraemon or Pokemon. Now she knows. |

| My parents, being the children of WWII, didn't think anything of anime. To them it was just the Japanese cartoons I liked to watch as a kid. They had zero idea I continued to watch well into my geriatric years. I'm sure they would think I'm weirder than they already do if mom knew. Way before it was “Anime” to the rest of the world. My father use to watch shit like Harlock, Lupin, Galaxy Express 999, Cyborg 009, Gatchaman, and a bunch of older shit that is likely not even in the MAL database. Sadly he has been legally blind since the 90s but today he pretends to be above it all (I know he secretly still loves the shit). lol Both of my parents knew full well Japanese Anime has been full of sexual content in contrast to Western cartoons even back when I was a kid in the 80s. They rather encouraged me being into anything growing up rather than getting up to any type of delinquent behavior. Beyond that, Western media has always been far worse when it comes to violence.... Just look at shit like "Tom and Jerry" where the entire premise is about a cat being tortured, mutilated, and blown to bits just for laughs and that was a fucking show suitable for toddlers to watch. Or Looney Tunes, where dropping anvils on someone’s head is considered family entertainment. So yeah, spare me the pearl-clutching about anime “corrupting the youth.” My parents knew any media entertainment were just stories and art, and honestly, the only real difference is that anime has better plots, cooler characters, and… let’s be real… way sharper fashion sense. Beyond that, no one in my family has ever been brainwashed by Western hypocritical sexual Christian moralism when it simply comes to media entertainment. Goodwill and social decency predate Christianity by thousands of years. The main thing religions like Christianity has historically done is wrap natural human emotions and desires in moral suspicion, treating them as temptations rather than parts of our shared humanity. |

| They call it "Chinese cartoons", so they are not that fans of them. Even if the anime is great they just have a wall around it and cant get into it, but it is fair, I guess, you cannot force people to like stuff, I personally dont like stuff they like (like soccer). |

| My mom has read some manga. She is more of a reader than a watcher. She's told me before that she doesn't have much interest in anime for a few different reasons. Mostly because she can't hear well and she gets lost in the dialogue very easily. She also doesn't care for subtitles so I can't really help her there. My dad has absolutely no interest in anime and makes fun of me for liking it, but it's cool because we roast each other all the time over everything so it's just banter. I actually got my grandfather to watch a Patlabor movie with me a couple years ago. He was pretty blown away by the animation, but I don't think he paid much attention to any of the story lol. |

| My mother somewhat tolerated Anime as she knew I liked it, but she'd often make comments on things like their eyes or voices. She also was a massive prude, so if she happened to come in on something ecchi, I'd get tons of earache from her, I think she was expecting Police to come bashing down the door any second. My Dad by this point had totally lost himself because of his metal health decline, so I've no idea what he thought of Anime. Their both deceased now anyway ._. |
