A very interesting start to this new arc! This is going to be cool to see where this goes. Probably closer to a more 'normal' hero trajectory, though imitating a real hero quite like this is probably still not normal.

Does everyone else think that we'll follow "not the main hero" in every arc? (personally, I doubt it.)

It’s good to see a new story with a new hero, but what the heck happened to my Moon! They seriously can’t leave us with that cliffhanger without giving further details about her fate.

Yang Cheng has a tragic past—he lost his parents at an early age after they were killed by criminals. The one who came to his rescue was E-Soul. Yang grew up idolizing him, seeing him as a hero and role model. He dreamed of becoming like him, despite being ridiculed by others for having zero Trust Value in a world where Trust Value shapes everything.

He always has crush on Xia, and though he tried multiple times to confess his feelings, he could never bring himself to do it. That’s when he meets Xia’s younger brother, Pomelo, initially showing discontent toward his theatrical performances for kids. Later, he grows close to Yang after their meeting. When Pomelo gets kidnapped, Yang follows the kidnappers and somehow manages to stop them—only to be beaten brutally. But Pomelo’s trust in Yang as E-Soul gives him the strength to fight back and defeat them.

Yang gets many chances—like when Xia invites him to the concert, or when she tries to know him better as the performer E-Soul—but every time, his low confidence and lack of self-belief cause him to fail. Dude seriously needs to get his act together. And how the heck does Shang always appear whenever Yang tries to ask Xia out or confess?

Now the bigger questions: who ordered Pomelo’s kidnapping, and for what purpose? How will Yang and Xia’s relationship develop moving forward? AND WHAT HAPPENED TO MY MOON—SHE BETTER BE ALIVE!!!

Ok time to see E-souls story. That 1 trust value really does a lot wow. Have just one person believe in you can turn you into a hero.

So that little kid wasn't Lin Ling it seems. They do kinda look similar to me though. Now though wtf would someone hire goons to kidnap him?

Yang Cheng only 1 episode but I wanna root for him now but he's going to become the person who replaces the current E-soul right? how'd he go from this guy we see her to someone to kills Moon? I wonder if there's going to be like many multiple different versions of E-Soul. Like all those other people that got selected right for a purpose.
Yang Cheng I was really rooting for him to invite his crush to go to that concert but the other guy kept getting in the way.

Also another thing trust value really is everything in this world. Even not just people are given powers. Places superstitions like a love confession spot in a shop could actually have power if people believe in it.

Great ep

We start with out 2nd arc and it introduces us to the mc Yang, his troubling past, his admiration for E-Soul, and big crush on the brown haired girl. But that black haired boy ALWAYS gets in the way and he simply doesn't have enough confidence to go far.

We also get introduced to lil Pomelo, but every time I see him, he reminds me of Lin Ling.

Has a job as a fake E-Soul, piques Pomelo's interest and after failing to bag the girl, he gives up

Pomelo gets kidnapped weirdly enough, but our unwavering mc doesn't stop to save him and luckily through the trust of Pomelo, he is able to gain "1" person's trust giving him to needed power to stop the kidnappers.

The ending definitely confused me, why does the friend want our mc? Though, I'm highkey glad he helped, since it forced him to get exposed.

Ngl, the whole ep , I was trying to connect the dots as to what happened in arc1 or ep4's ending. Maybe he became a hater and hates seeing people with other half. IDK

Going to be a crazy continuation where the real E Soul and the new one confront one another and I presume the new one is 'stealing' the OGs trust value which will be the cause of massive conflict. Defs can't see this arc end happily and we still have no idea who ordered the kidnapping (I presume it's the guy our new MC is jealous of) and why the kid was taken

@CyStarkman So the connection between Lin Ling's story and Yang Cheng's story is the a person who looks like E-Soul was standing on the beach after Moon was shot.

Setup episode, but New E-Soul's setup did feels better than Lin Ling's. It's probably due to Lin Ling's episodes doing the heavy-lifting for the worldbuilding beforehand. Do wonder what's so special about the kid for someone to try and kidnap him though.

That aside it looks like the show's trying to set/build up who was the one that killed Moon. It's E-Soul yes, but which one? Now it's either New E-Soul, Original E-Soul or the black/shadow E-Soul that was seen in original E-Soul's PV/trailer.

Checking Episode 3 again, it looks like the new E-Soul did eventually replace the original E-Soul. So perhaps the Original E-Soul killed Moon as a grudge since he saw how Lin Ling replaced Nice? Probably not true haha.

Now onto timeline stuff.

Yang's parent was murdered 20 years after Commission
Firm Man's origin happened 34 years after Commission.
And during the Magic Shadow chase, the design looks like the Original E-Soul. Happened between year 34 and 36.
Since we're currently following Yang 16 years later, 36 years after Commission
Firm Man also received his medal and scarf at 36 years after Commission.

Current timeline at were Lin Ling is wasn't explicitly stated, but using Wolf Girl to estimate, she went from Elementary to what looked like High School. Add a few additional years as Wolf Girl, so about 10-15 years or so give or take. And during this time, the Original E-Soul was replaced.

Timeline also matches up for Lin Ling to be the kid. As he looks to be the same age as young Wolf Girl. Only issue is that his sister's last name is Xia, while Lin Ling is, well, Lin. Unless some amnesia happened, it's not likely for him to be the kid.

The kid did share some same traits with Lin Ling though. Admiring heroes, having an eye for what's marketable/popular, and some connection to the idea/action of a "great performance".

Edit: Ok yeah I was wrong. Went back to check Episode 1, Lin Ling was fired 41 years after Commission. The kid 100% isn't him.

A few theories I came up with after watching this episode:

1) E-Soul never revealed his face and always wears a mask in order to be able to pass on the mantle to the next guy, just like Lin Ling was able to "become" Nice. Most likely that's why there's this competition for E-Soul lookalikes. I'd even guess that this isn't even the 1st E-Soul.

2) I think it was the rich guy who tried to kidnap Pomelo. He has the money and unless we find out they come from a very important family, the only thing that makes Pomelo a person of interest is being Xia's brother. But why would he want to kidnap the girl's little brother? Maybe he has his eyes on her but she only wants to be friends, then the came out with a plan where he would save her little brother or help E-Soul (or the contestants) rescue him in order to make her owe him/fall for him.

Regardless if I'm right or wrong I'm excited to see where this one goes and hope by the end of this arc we get to follow up on what actually happened to Moon and Lin Ling!

Anyways, great episode. I still have no idea what happened to Moon though.

According to the episode preview, Yang will have to confront the real E-Soul. I guess this makes sense: he has accidentally 'stolen' E-Soul's trust value. I wonder how this mistake will be cleared up.

I also find E-Soul's speech to be interesting. He is a masked hero whose identity is unknown to the public; according to his explanation, this is to maintain the trust and hope he inspires in people, and to keep his brave and just self. I think this is important because it suggests that E-Soul has a secret that once revealed, will destroy any trust he has. His character trailers also suggest that he struggles against a darker side of himself, which is relevant to the second part of his speech.

As for the episode, another banger. This time following the story of E-soul. The guy who shot Moon last episode. Why did it come to that. Though for now I like this new guy and I hope he ends up with his girl but why do I get the feeling something will happen to her too. Also this reminded me of the time Deku stood like a wall to protect Kota.

@Im_10z_ don't know what you mean by cut copy paste since lin ling doesn't even have the same story as the current arc focusing on e soul, since lin ling was forced to become a hero and take nice place, and here this new e soul wants to become a hero like original e soul because the original e soul saved his life when he was a kid this just different situations of them becoming heroes, mind you the current arc timeline wise which is focusing on e soul is also taking place in the past as well which is before lin ling became the hero nice

@pelik_luv_anime Because Uncle Rock manages the Milk Tea shop in the amusement park and Yang Cheng took the job from the goons at the milk tea store. Also, subs are based on the Chinese version which has subtle differences from the English language version.

@seasonanimes_ The person who killed Moon is suspected to be E-Soul and now he is the main character. There are 10 heroes in this show and after a couple of episodes, it switches perspective to a different hero.

This episode is very good. At the beginning of the episode I was disappointed because Lin Ling wasn't the MC,but the longer I watch I feel that Yang Cheng is quite an interesting character. I can't wait for the next episode.
