| Welp, the classy protagonist's life changing because of certain events pops up into this type of show again. Beryl seems like a humble dude but nothing really special about him besides his past and reputation. Oh and ofc, there's the students, younger characters who has shown potential in their talents. The character appearances are kinda what I expected out of this show. Allucia has the best look imo but this is still the standard, adventure fantasy adventure the industry has too often. |

| Novelist Shigeru Sagazaki's series basically tells us what if Mushoku Tensei's Paul Greyrat actually took his swordmanship to the next level. It's been awhile since we've had a Takanori Nishikawa a.k.a TNNK song, and his OP song here is alright. Same with FLOW's ED. The backwater village swordmaster that is Beryl Gardenant being a single man with no partner for 20 years, only to find one of his former pupils of Allucia Citrus scouting him to become the special instructor for the Royal Order of Knights of the Liberion Order, this is quite the tall order for him to move to the Baltrain capital, on top of trying to earn a wife at the same time from his old man's persistence. There, he meets another student of Curuni Crueciel at the Order, though coming back to find another student of his: Randrid Pattlerock and his wife and kid, alongside his old man rejecting him outright, Beryl's at a loss. With Beryl's ass back at Baltrain, he has to find a place to stay at the capital alongside the Commander of the Order...to the chagrin of yet another student of his into the realm: Surena Lysandra, whom she has trained with him for the longest time. The two old students of his clearly at loggerheads, and at least Beryl's slowly accustoming to the city life. The next day, Allucia bringing Beryl to the elite knights' training hall, barring the vice-commander of Henblitz Drout to challenge him to a duel. The 3DCG fight is kind of realistic to show the intensity of the fight, though Beryl can outwit him that easily. And certainly, between his old students and Henblitz, Beryl is the swordmaster out to make his name known. A rather convincing start, nothing much more to say. |

| Beryl’s parents aren’t wrong—dude, just give them some grandkids already! Allucia definitely seems more than happy to help make that happen, haha. It’s hilarious how this guy has trained so many students, and I’m sure more than a few like him romantically. Honestly, I wouldn’t care about the age difference either—especially in a medieval setting. Beryl’s skills are no joke, as expected from a master swordsman who’s produced several talented pupils with incredible swordsmanship. |

| In general, 3D in an anime is something that quickly ruins the experience for me and makes me give up (with a few rare exceptions like "Houseki no Kuni" or "Beastars"). Here, it's barely visible because it's so well mixed with 2D. Can't wait to see what happens next ! |

| Okay, my first viewing was some poor dub that was like nails on a chalkboard. That alone made me want to drop it. Then all of the sudden dub turned to sub. Mystery if you ask me, but in japanese it's not jarring to watch. Nothing really can be said about the first episode. It's one which runs through world building and set up too fast, but it's also like many many many others we've seen. |
| That was unexpected. Shows with this premise are mostly bottom of the barrel cheap junk, and here I'm not expecting for writing to be any better, but animation during the duel was actually decent. To be honest, with how anime is nowadays, I'm fine with something that just looks decent and isn't insultingly stupid. I'll give it couple more episodes. Oh right, the whole episode I was dumbfounded when the silver-haired girl was on the screen. What the hell is going on with her uniform around the waist? And why is the other girl allowed to wear tutu skirt as part of her uniform instead? |

| Initially wasn't gonna bother with this but the girls, specifically Surena piqued my interest so here I am and man she's hot. This was a pretty nice start too actually. Mc is quite likeable and his adventure finally begins, better late than never. The girls are ofc cute and lol all of them are his students. More should be popping up too later on. Animation, visuals are decent. Op song was whatever, ED was decent. |

| Paul Greyrat from the Shoppe trained a bunch of students and he himself is one of those guys who doesn't even realize how strong he is lol. Allucia doesn’t even try to hide that she likes him, but that also goes for the 'Paraguayan Eris' and probably the other one too. His sparring match with the blond kid had a little touch of 3D animation, but it was okay overall. I’m gonna keep watching and hope it lives up to the hype |

| Another anime of an ojisan, but this time it's a master swordsman. I really liked the beginning, and Beryl's humble attitude is a big plus. I admit, I was initially interested in the anime when I saw Surena in the trailers, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Instead of Beryl humiliating the blond with exaggerated movement, we get a somewhat realistic sword fight. Even with the 3D animation, it didn't look bad at all. I just hope they don't go too crazy with the action later on, as the series gives off a calmer vibe. It fits well with Beryl's calm and experienced personality who doesn't yet know that his years have made him the best swordsman. |

| This show did not need to go that hard, oh my lord! The story seems pretty standard for the genre at the moment, but the animation was incredible. If they keep up with that action sakuga this will definitely be a fun watch. |

| figured i'd dig a bit... Blu Digital GroupINC out of LA... mhm never heard of them... aha... Central Post LA got bought out back in 2022... aha. i hadn't heard that. one of Netflix's go-to subcontractors for subtitles and dubbing... but this one is streaming on Amazon? that sucks, this title is going to get schit viewership on that platform. bummer, i enjoyed the episode. pass the title around folks so it gets good word of mouth. because Amazon's anime profile and saturation in the marketplace is a total toxic waste dump. good quality animation and excellent work on the character designs. i liked the sword fighting/katas MOCAP work. the muscles and tendon detailing on forearms and hands was excellent work too! the props team needs to be collectively slapped in the face repeatedly with stinky rotten fish and shamed in front of the whole staff for this show. they CONSTANTLY dicked up the perspectives and measurements of EVERY WEAPON ON-SCREEN. every shot was wrong. all of them. that was total schitt work on the swords. total. as usual, crap wagons and horses and cart designs and animations though. total crap. i liked the buildings but ugh... too TOO much mixing of Asian architecture and European. pick. a. region. and stick with it. who wrote the travel timeline and distances in this episode? a DAY to travel to the capital and he's originally only going to teach 3-4 TIMES a month? ok so how tha fukk is his dojo out in the sticks? a day's travel by horse? wagon?? cart??? carriage????? walking?????? ok. sigh. authors and screenwriters need to do their GD homework on how far/long/fast a person can walk, a horse bearing a person can walk/trot/gallop, and how long it takes 1 horse, 2 horse, or a higher numbered hitch cart/wagon/carriage/coach to cover a distance. any ANY travel measured by a day and just 1 day dawn-to-dusk is normal. hell before automobiles a trip from NYC proper OUTSIDE the city using one horse n buggy overnight was a chore, but that wasn't the sticks. Albany/Upstate NY would take 3-4 days by carriage from The City, faster if you took a train. plus those were 1800's era measurements without backtracking to the 16-1700's... let alone Europe even earlier than that. so to be 'out in the boonies'?? this dojo would need to be 3-7 DAYS away from the capital. those kinds of distances would entirely and utterly prevent him from teaching at his dojo ever again. he would spend more time on the roads each month wearing out horses than he would spend teaching the knights OR his kids out in the boonies. Passione and their frequent collaborators Hayabusa Film... mhm... Haya will keep Pass' boingboing Gainax Physics in check... that'll be a disappointment though. Pass has always done a high-quality boing. |

| Awesome start for something I had the lowest of expectations for going in. The CGI and 2D mixed well overall artwork was different but kinda nice for its own esthetics. This was just a setup episode, but it's off to a nice start. Seems like it's going to be a pretty chill show. |

He's like Paul if he knew how to hold back his sexual urges lol, looks like him too. His duel against the blonde dude was well animated. He folded real quick though after being humbled lmao. | I was surprised to see this was being simul-dubbed. This isn't really my kind of show anyway, so figured I would just watch the dub. Wow, the dub voice acting is the worst modern dub I have heard, lol. So bad it is absolutely worth experiencing once, haha. So bad it completely draws you away from whatever the story was. I can't remember what actually happened because I was so distracted. I kind of couldn't stop listening though, lol. It sounded like some untrained and unskilled fans just randomly decided to dub this. I thought the Tonbo dub was rough, but this one blows it out of the water. With that said, I'm definitely going to re-watch the episode subbed. |

| This feels very rushed. A LOT of story and context is left out when you compare it to the LN and Manga. Specifically with Allucia, Surena and Hambritz. And the pacing is so fast that, if you compare it to the manga version, ep1 is the first 4 chapters. The quality of the show itself is certainly at least a 7 for now but I'm very concerned with how much will end up left out going forward. Casting Hiroaki Hirata as Baryl and Nao Touyama as Allucia were spot on. Also the character design looks weird to me but I'll admit I'm way to accustomed to Kazuki Satou's art style, which probably wouldn't work as well for the 2.5d animation fight scenes. And no, the character design isn't based off the LN's design, Tetsuhiro Nabeshima's art looks even less like the anime than Kazuki's does. |
| Middle aged swordsman finally getting his big break and chance to prove himself to the world? Welcome back Shinmai Ossan lol. Dope premiere. To think, all this started because Beryl’s dad wanted grandkids 😂 I can already tell the girls are gonna be amazing in this, especially Allucia. Hard to go wrong with a Toyama Nao voiced character. She’s pretty as hell and funny as fuck. How you gonna volunteer Beryl to become a swordsman in the capital without asking him lmao. Plus she’s got a massive crush on him which of course he’s too dense to pick up on. That’ll be fun to see play out. Surena and Allucia little rivalry is gonna be good too, Surena reminds me a lot of Eris lol. Speaking of Mushoku, Beryl himself is basically Paul if he didn’t have to deal with his nonce of a son. I’m wondering how tf all of his former students are hot girls and successful adventurers and knights tho jeez. Just this ep alone we got 4 that are doing very well for themselves. He definitely needed to be somewhere other than in the boonies. Idk how I feel about the 3DCGI/2D blend in the fight scenes, but I think it’s dope that Beryl isn’t necessarily the fastest or strongest in terms of raw power but his experience and knowledge of his body and sword allow him to win fights. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to grow stronger from this point given his age and the fact I’m sure there’ll be stronger opponents Promising start to this! |
