"do you like yuri and yuri bait anime?"

Yes and I'm male. And I don't really care about some random hostile users. I just ignore them.

Yuri ftw. <3

Because Yuri and yaoi fans are typically the most hostile and often shove their ships in people's faces, from my experience. Let's not forget when Tokyo Ghoul's author got death threats because he made Kaneki straight. There's a fairly popular H artist who does straight HI3 stuff and he often gets death threats from Yuri fans too. Oh and there's that yuri-crusader guy who always posts a massive fucking Yuri image everytime he posts, doesn't even have to be a Yuri related thread. Get's real annoying after a while.

I'm not a fan of yuri as a guy personally. But I have nothing against other guys who are into it. The only reason I could possibly think as to why guys are strongly against it is because they can't envision themselves being with a female character if they have an exclusive interest in other women.

As a G-witch fan who didn't have anything against SuleMio (thought they were pretty cute), I think that the annoyance came due to the fact EVERY SINGLE discussion about the show is about SuleMio
Suletta is my favourite character, but come on there's more to her than just her relationship with Miorine, there's more to the show than fighting whether people are homophobes for not liking the relationship, misogynists for loving Guel (there are times people act like it but they are a loud minority) or claiming people love the show just for Yuri
At least for g witch, the relationship isn't a problem. The problem is how prevelant and toxic the discussion around it is

I'm a female and I don't really mind it, I personally prefer it over yaoi-bait [I'm not into this genre'a], but I kinda got used to it, as I tend to watch all-male shows, so I can't get mad when yaoi-bait is in it XD. Of course I would prefer if it wasn't bait of course, but just GL incorporated into an action series, but tbh calling it soft GL would be alright too, the problem is, there's rarely a payoff or they end up as "just roommates" anyway.

With Witch from Mercury at least some of it was people objecting to that series not conforming to their idea of what Gundam should be like and attacking the thing that in their mind visibly symbolised it not being like the Gundam they wanted.

The only organized anti-yuri group I know is part of the Blue Archive fanbase, because there's somewhat of a civil war between two factions there.

Also, what do you classify as Yuri-bait? Is it "Class-S" or is it something else?
I have no issue with Class-S, but I have with Yuri-bait anime such as Hibike Euphonium.

With regards to specifically Lycoris and G-Witch, It can just be one guy or a very loud minority on their crusade to not allow any yuri works to be considered in the wider community of good anime, either by ensuring the audience considers them not yuri or by making them considered by the wider community to not be good animes. Lycoris still has a relatively high score of above 8, and G-Witch was credited to my knowledge to help Bandai Namco make a lot of money.

Other yuri animes simply don't get the same attention in both financial success or word of mouth success. Notice the distinction between anime and manga. Yuri as a genre gets their love in the manga sphere just fine.

As for the hate towards yuri-shipping in general. Shipping has always been a hot topic ripe for intensive and often hostile discourse. This extends to ships of all sexualities and not just yuri. I frankly don't see much of a difference between the sexualities even considering G-Witch's debacle with the suits at the end, or Tokyo Ghoul, or even Zom100's doctor chapter followed with the quick 180 thanks to dolphins. Basically if an author decides to sink their "main" ship, knowingly or unknowingly prepare for backlash. I am sympathetic towards the fans in all 3 cases. Death threats are bad but if a successful enough entertainer takes up enough of people's time and emotional investment, a backlash is at least understandable though not good for all parties for sure.

I'm not sure how one can prevent this, on one hand, fans should behave properly, on another, entertainers have to create memorable moments, good or bad.

And finally yes, as a guy I like yuri and yuri-adjacent works. One can call "yuri-adjacent", "yuri-bait" or "yuri-subtext" but I'll stick the lingo I perfer.

https://www.wikiwand.com/en/articles/Class_S_(culture)
Class S (クラスS, Kurasu Esu), or S kankei, abbreviated either as S or Esu (エス), is an early twentieth-century Japanese wasei-eigo term used to refer to romantic friendships between girls. The term is also used to designate a genre of girl's fiction (少女小説, shōjo shōsetsu) which tells stories about the same, typically focused on senpai and kōhai relationships wherein one girl is senior in age or position to the other. The "S" is an abbreviation that can stand for "sister", "shōjo" (少女, lit. young girl), "sex", "schön" (German: beautiful), and "escape".

Although Class S can broadly be described as a form of love between girls, it is distinct from a romantic relationship or romance fiction in that it is used specifically to describe platonic relationships based on strong emotional bonds and very close friendship, rather than sex or sexual attraction.

Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku would be the prime example for a Class S anime.

My mind is absolutely blown by the idea that there are anime fans who get big mad about yuri for any reason other than objectification... I don't even know how to process this... you want the fan service but all characters must remain at least 15cm apart at all times? Is this a zoomer thing? The anime girls are ignoring the anime boys?

I don't see many of those people. Which is unfortunate because it's fun throwing yuri at people who are allergic to it and see them mald. Triggering other people is a major part of the appeal of yuri/yaoi/traps/etc.

Personally I find it cute and endearing, especially since yuri and yuri bait relationships in anime are less frequently toxic so there's less concern about having to sit through some drama or misunderstandings or abusive behavior every other episode (though it still is there sometimes).

However I don't do headcanon bullshit about there being relationships and feelings that aren't actually there. People who get mad that things don't work out the way they did in their personal delusions are just crazy.

Sailor-fuku is just the "prime example" of a creepy male gaze hebephilia and foot fetish show. My show notes:
Hebephilia the animation. The show is both well animated and directed and creepy. There's no ecchi (or boys at all), nudity or panty shots. Yet the camera angles, intimate close ups, image sections (feet!), bath tub and undressing scenes are pure fetish.
Actual examples of class S are Oniisama e... (1992), trope codifier Maria-sama ga Miteru (2004), Hidamari Sketch (2007), Aoi Hana (2009), Yuru Yuri (2011) and Hibike! Euphonium (2015).

To me "yuri-bait" and "class-S" are similar superifically, with the key exception of the target group. Class-s targets actual female homosexuals, while yuri bait is just made for males and lolicons. Given this, I disagree with @deg here, Euphonium was co-made my Naoko Yamada and is not male gaze at all. Where Sailor-fuku is all about male gaze camera angles.

Any romance that isn't M/F does absolutely nothing for me from an emotional standpoint. I would never watch actual GL, but I guess bait isn't a big deal as long as it stays at a level that I can gloss over it. And as long as the rest of the series is good, obviously.

I like 'yuri bait' in a comedic manner only, like it was in Yuru Yuri. But serious and ridiculously sweet all-girls romance is painful to observe, it's no better than yaoi in this regard. I feel like that romantic yuri made for female audience just like yaoi since relations there shown all emotional and in a naive manner of typical children fairy tale.

I've always been a big fan of yuri anime, in general I've preferred shows with female leads.

In terms of the vocal people who feel the need to "debunk" if a show is yuri or not, I imagine for most of those it just comes down to some level of homophobia. Most people who dislike yuri just aren't going to watch those shows or if they do, they're not going to talk about the relationships. To get vocally hostile regarding those aspects would suggest to me that they are just bigoted to some degree.

On the subject of yuri bait, there is a fine line between it being ambiguous how characters love each other and giving a false impression of their relationship, and that will vary depending on how important the viewer thinks it is that they'll get to see women being gay on screen. Like, I love Flip Flappers but I can imagine would disappoint someone if they got it in their head that they were being shown a blossoming romance, but from my point of view it doesn't really matter to the story being told how the main characters love each other, the emotional arc is the same either way.

I'm female and it's 50-50 for me when it comes to yuri, I like some and hate others, it depends on how it's written. I hated G Witch because it started as a forced relationship that was a result of a battle and it just so happened that Suletta magically turned out to be lesbian/bi. WataOshi is another anime I really hated because of how one of the girls was pointed out to be homophobic for showing aversion to the girl who was molesting her a few minutes ago and again despite claiming to be straight in the beginning she turned lesbian/bi for her molestor. On the other hand I liked Adachi to Shimamura, Onii-sama e..., TenTenKakumei and Sasakoi.

As for yuri-bait, it gets annoying because of the shippers proclaiming about how the girls are canon lesbian and calling everyone who doesn't agree with them as homophobic and in worst case sending death threats or harassing the creators when their ships don't happen (like they did with the script writer of Lycoris Recoil). But I did find Hotaru's crush on Komari to be cute in Non Non Byouri, I wouldn't mind that sort of bait.

I am a gundam fan, why the fuck should I accept yuri in my favorite mecha? And people are surprised when studios receive death threats.
Let me put it in simple ways: if I wanted to watch yuri I would go and watch Citrus. When I want to watch mecha I go and watch Gundam. Yuri has no place in Gundam, BL is allowed but not yuri, it's a 40 year old tradition and hell if I want it changed.

You're making the common mistake of thinking that since yuri has a much wider audience, people shouldn't have a critical opinion (not to mention the general idea that any critics of yuri shipping = yuri haters). At the same time, although BL shippers and the audience have long been demonized due to attempts to look for BL in all places except the BL shows themselves, yuri shippers and the audience are not much better. Although more aggressive due to the stereotype that due to the appeal to a male audience, yuri ships have a much better chance than BL. And yes, in the case of G-Witch, people were critical not so much about the yuri, but about the way it was written or how people aggressively rushed things by declaring Suletta and Miorine in love with each other after the first episode or not even trying to hide the fact that The show as a whole is not particularly interesting to them other than that.
