It's because stories on those mangos were written with those things in mind in the first place. There's stuff like Belladonna of Sadness in this site. Is that anime simply too toxic to discuss? Yes, Belladonna of Sadness is an anime too and many people put it in their favorites unironically. Also, one bad actor? Toxic exchange? I think we've had enough of the word toxic. |
| @butnotforme Considering what happened when rule 7 was introduced this will be locked. Toxic exchange exist, Mal just needs a system to deal with alt's, which is easy to implement and permaban toxic actors. That will never happen though. |

But you can find some good interesting topics there. Well nothing stops you from interacting on subreddits that have different views than you, but yeah those are your choices. | @DrSexy LOL yeah, 4chan people are weebs, obviously. My bad. But, umm, I think you get my point. It's just different being in MAL and being in 4chan. Like MAL is a lot more like planet Earth, while 4chan is like some galaxy far far away. Haha! I understand your point, dear sir. MAL is just so much more convenient and neutral, I guess. This is why you can find some genuinely interesting people here comfortably posting about their personal lives & views. You just can't get that kind of experience from reddit, 4chan, Twitter, etc. That kind of experience can only happen in an old school forum. And MAL is the most active old school anime-themed forums. EDIT: Also, what a blasphemy on Yotsuba being 4chan's mascot. It's like one of the most disturbing things ever. EDIT2: I'd hang out at Letterboxd or Goodreads if they have a forum system that is similar to MAL. Seriously. |

| It was a rule created in haste because of literally like six users most of whom aren't even around anymore. The entire userbase got dragged down because the mods didnt have the guts to make rules to target the small number of users bending rules and some outright breaking rules that already existed but were allowed to slip by. |

| These topics are not supposed to be discussed in a public forum where people of all hues can share their opinion on a certain issue since that creates conflict, which is no good. Dissent, objections, or criticism are all signs of a non-utopian society. Such controversial topics are supposed to be peacefully discussed in private discords, subreddits, and other hive-minded echo chambers where everyone either agrees with one another or says it was not extremist enough and therefore, they would go even further. That definitely creates a healthy environment for young people. |
