THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Interesting premise. Sort of like a combination between the anime Darwin's Game and the non-anime Japanese show Alice in Borderland.

I can't say there is anything special on the production side of things. I have never seen an anime from this studio so not sure if that is standard for them or not. The animation and music is serviceable.

The OP and Ed are fine but nothing that memorable.

The draw of the anime is definitely the bizarre situation and the mystery of what is going on and how it happened. Then the mental and physical battles will keep the audience invested while the mystery is eventually figured out.

Finally it's here! I love the designs of the masked characters. It's unfortunate that there will be some fan service, but it's fine I guess. The concept and world is really unique which I like.

The survival-theme plot looks very interesting. I like how the main character, Honjo Yuri, easily understands her situation and adapt herself quite well.

Interesting concept but the progression was rushed and things felt a bit off cause of that. Thou the girls are thicc and the panty shots were nice.

The last part of this epi was interesting. So there is a way to leave this crazy world which is to ride the helicopter. Problem is only one person can ride it. So that's gonna lead to normal people killing each other like shown in the end of the episode.

Overall an okay premise, lets see how things go from here.

Laughably awful in everything, from characters to animation.
Feels like Mirai Nikki meets cheap hentai from the 00s

What!? Those things that look like humans wearing masks are actually humans?.........wearing masks!
Pretty fast paced start with writing worthy of kings game.

I've only read the first two volumes quite a while ago, but this first episode felt very rushed to me, with lots of content cut out of it. So I just checked, and this first episode indeed covers 23 chapters of story, over 260 pages. A lot of that might not be too important for the story, but it definitely helps building the atmosphere and characters. Now I'm just wondering if they actually crammed 21 volumes of story in just 12 episodes....

Honestly surprised with this one after having some doubts from the trailer. The main female character is actually smart and competent, which is a breathe of fresh air amongst other fan-servicey anime. And without being too edgy or explicit with its action, the show's easy to get into.

While not great, I would recommend anyone to at least give it a try. Just beware of the occasional panty shot popping in every other minute.

I have so much to say about this. It was an utter cringe fest. I can see nothing good coming out of this other than that sniper. Arguably he's the only good part of the show, not for any reason, only because he looks cool. This gives me Yugioh vibes, which couldn't possibly be good. 20AUD my ass I'm not paying to watch this. I honestly can't believe I got hyped for this. Manga better be better.

Btooom and Alice in Borderland are what come to mind. Interesting to make an anime high up in the air; the skyskraper esthetic came first and the plot second, I think. It is about the rooftops, the bridges and the clean, modern environment up there, coupled with danger, whatever it may be.

However, that attempted rape was creepy. It didn't seem to fit in. And it's unsettling, though more fitting I guess, to hear people's thoughts as they fall to the ground. But creepy again to have the camera slow down and watch up close right before they hit the ground head first.

I watched Gleipnir, and I'm reading the manga. Somehow I find that show's bloody-tendrils squick less unsettling than watching right before a head smashes into the ground.

Does this show get particularly any better later on? The premise seemed kinda interesting with this weird city location and mind controlled people turned into killers, but the writing and pacing in this first episode was really terrible. I'm pretty sure the main girl went through like 3 character arcs in just this one episode and to me that feels like this show is just gonna be a mess.

Wow, 12 episodes in 1 day? Everything is fine except for rushing part... it felt so rush... if they didn't rush it, I give a 5 of 5 rate. I love the OP, but the ED got a little spoiler I guess...
It has a low score.... I bet Netflix rush this anime a lot...

Yeah, I watched it. While I would say that Alice in Borderland was overall a better show, I might have had a more fun time watching Thigh-Rise Invasion (pun intended).

Everytime the main character thinks something "wait how do you know that? how could you possibly come to that conclusion?"
There hasn't been nearly enough exposition for her to jump to the conclusions that she's reaching, I hope it slows down a bit after this episode.

First episode was kinda cringey for me. Anime should have shown how the mc suffered some fear of being thrown into a world like that. Instead we get a mc who adapts to the world in literally a few mins, all in 1 episode. Personally for me character feels rushed.

Jesus christ this was terrible. The animation is meh, not bad but not good either. The worst part is the dialogue, god dam is it awful, the characters seem like robots talking and some things just happen just because its convenient, like how did the main girl put the guy on fire????

I did not like this first episode AT ALL. Premise seemed kinda cool but goddamn the dialogue and the writing. The way the characters reacts felt completely unrealistic, especially the female mc lol. I'll watch 2 more episodes and if there's no improvement whatsoever maybe I'll drop this.

Plot presented in a forced way without a fluid progression of events
Also the protagonist doesn't seem to assume a fixed personality

But I will keep watching it because of the premise despite being poorly presented

Animation is sometimes bad (especially on the action scenes) but mostly mediocre.

I remember there being panty shots in the manga but the crude animation (and the lack of a consistent character model) makes them appear even more tasteless and forced here.

Pacing sometimes doesn't make sense, Honjo goes from schoolgirl with a panic attack to calm killer instinct sharpshooter in like 3 seconds. They cram A LOT into these episodes, even though this show is like 50% inner monologue.
At least she's smart enough to collect weapons.

Also the VA for Honjo is kinda annoying.

Meh. Kinda corny for sure. The plot is really basic and silly. A girl gets transported to a world with killers everywhere and she has to survive. I got a few questions. How did Yuri light that cop on fire? and did the protagonist really not see that the masks are real people? Like really? Lol how...

I like the rooftop setting. That is not the normal "hunting ground" type of anime so that is a plus. I like the fact that the MC caught on pretty quickly and didn't need to be rescued for 4 episodes. All in all.....pretty interesting.

Must be terrifying suddenly appearing on a high-rise building out of nowhere. Somewhat interesting concept but this is pretty rushed like how Yuri adapts to her situation too quickly.

Meh, nice concept, but too fast paced and overly sexualized, with mediocre, but watchable, animation. I'll still watch it, since it's only 12 episodes, but I'm not expecting much. Altough I read some of you saying this first episode, only, adapted 260 pages??? If so I'll probably go give the manga a chance, since it seems to have a more enjoyable pace.

The art/animation is fine. It's at least serviceable.

People really need to stop it with the biased cherry-picking of obviously zoomed-in screenshots of far-away character models caught in the middle of an in-between animation frame.

It's not a valid example of "bAd aNiMaTiOn" because you can find frames just like this one in literally every anime out there if you look hard enough, even ones with high production values.
