THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The show’s definitely starting to improve. The first ep probably wasn’t the best selling point, but the premise, while pretty generic is still interesting. With Kasel being Kyle’s son that means he’s gotta be next in line for the crown too.

Pretty boring backstory. I'm hoping our MC gets some development otherwise I'm more interested in what the dark elves are up to than Kasel's group.

I hope we'll hear more about Illya's backstory later. What was she trying to achieve by creating a fake holy sword when they already had the real thing? And why were all dark elves punished because of it.

I think there already was a discrimination between dark elves and humans but no one was speaking of it. When Illya did that, they used it as an excuse to blame all dark elves and kicked them out of the kingdom.

Yeah, its kinda obvious with the original lore of the dark elves problem from Dominix story. But i never knew that its turned out to be deeper than i expected.

So, its basically about the main lore of the series. Its revealed about the history of King's Kyle and his naivety to protect all of the peoples he loved. Ofc, its end up in a peace for the Kingdom. But, the result was actually unsatisfying for his own matter. By the sudden dissappearance of him, the dark elves were kicked out from the kingdom, his sister-in-law Illya getting framed because of her research even though her intention was purely for the sake to help Kyle. Then, her wife even needed to hibernate herself in 100 years because of his friends fear of the revival of the demon king Angmund. Such a sad end, even her wife died after a long waited 100 years. Its surely fuck him up, with his absence, the situations even worse than his era.

Well, thats it, the whole info dump that i got, in a full episode mishmashed with a lot of reaction. Its sad, actually. However, like the dark elf guy said, they couldn't changed the past. So, yeah, for the positivity sake, let it be a chances for Kasel to finally shine with his designated fate. Could he persuaded the King's Kyle old friends to lend their key to released the seal of the Holy Sword? Then, could he restore a good relations and harmony inside the Kingdom by taking the dark elves issues as his main topic? Well, its surely not an easy quests. So, lets see their adventure in the next episode!

I can feel that this anime has been improved by episode 2. This anime has a slow build so we gonna have to wait and watch patiently every episode. I know that this anime will be awesome when it reach the mid-season episode.

I might be mistaken here.

But so far with my little understanding, Illya was not knowing the real situations in the front line that Kyle already had a Holy Sword to took down Angmund, because of her whole time she spent in the Kingdom to completed her own research. By the time she finished and wanted to tell Kyle in a front line about her research, she got defeated by the demon in the middle of her trip. Then, peoples who hate the dark elves race took a chance of Kyle's dissappearance by framing her research as a form of insult to the God of Light. The result was to kicked out all of dark elves race without even did a justice trace first with Illya research.

The question here is Dominix role. Why he didn't even told the true story to the Kingdom? The reason might be his wish to let Kasel to solved the problem with his own hand. Maybe like that xD.

Nice backstory, but I wanna know the results of Ilya's studies and why she decided to create a false Holy Sword. And who's that witch?

Apparently, they're main enemy is still the Demon Lord Angmund who's whereabouts are unknown. And they're starting their adventure. I'm expecting character development.

Yeah, you're probably both right. It's just sad that she was only trying to help then get blamed for everything and no one is there to defend her. I mean even her own people seem to blame her.

I can't even find her at the official site so maybe she won't appear again.

So after the reveal that MC is a massive Gary Stu, we get an episode that is 90% backstory (*yawn*😴) in which the “wise council” (or whoever) determines he is so critically important to the future of the kingdom that his mother is put in suspended animation to ensure MC is born just prior to the return of The Big Bad... and then they decide to dump her in some random village without proper protection, leading to her getting attacked and killed (note the Dead Anime Mom Hair 😅), apparently right in front of MC, meaning he could have just as easily died??? Why was “the only hope” for defeating Maou (or whoever) not properly safeguarded? If not by secreting him (and his poor mother) away in the capital, then at least by providing ample protection in the village??? And then, knowing full well that the threat is now real, they just throw him in an orphanage, with his only protection being the wizard guy who stops by OCCASIONALLY to check on him? The savior of the world wouldn’t qualify to go to Floating Wizardville to make sure he wasn’t killed by some monster rando?! 😓 And if they address this in the future with some trying-to-sound-deep-and-meaningful “this is the way it had to be because magic/fate/destiny” or some other cop-out BS, that will just be worse 😑
I really look forward to any non-isekai fantasy series each season, but so far, this show with its gaping, nonsensical plotholes is just proving infuriatingly disappointing ☹️

This post is literally just me complaining about tit sizes. Skip it if that bothers you.

I like this show, but I wish it didn't suffer from the issue of ruining character archetypes by putting tits a few cup sizes too big on every girl. The pink hair mage is supposed to be a genki girl, but her tits are too big so it doesn't work. The main girl's tits are not only way too big so as to make her look silly, but drawn badly in that they stick out too much. The one girl with normal sized tits is the most interesting female character (the dark elf), but it's one side character.

I wish studios would stick to having one girl for the brain-dead people that just want big tits and make the other girls (especially the main girl in any series) look like an actual slender, sleek, able-bodied girl/lady rather than a tramp awkwardly hauling around two giant footballs.

Even the archer girl in the OP... who is a type of character that is supposed to be graceful and agile... has massive tits. It doesn't work. Are there really that many people that will watch shows and keep watching shows just for massive tits? Because I can't believe people interesting in creating engaging serious stories would willingly make most of the girls look so silly.

The one girl it works on is the evil mage woman, and that's because it's clearly meant to be a sultry, mature type of woman. All the other girls look like cute young anime girls, only with tits way too big for them.

The low, leering camera angles on the girls (especially MC’s priestess friend) don’t help either 😅

LOL well I guess it doesn't help when the design is already off, but honestly the camera angle stuff has never bothered me much. I don't mind anime showing off the girls as sexy in almost any show. But I just think too many anime exaggerate breast sizes for no good reason and it actually hurts the character designs. If you put big tits on a woman like the evil mage I mentioned, or on a character who is a mother or in some caring role... there's lots of times it can work. But if you're going for a cute genki girl, or a nimble archer, or any kind of fighter who needs to move around a lot... it just doesn't fit most of the time. Sometimes it can work... I mean, it's a subjective thing, sure. If I did a poll I'm not sure how many would agree... But even from a fan service standpoint, I think the amount of people who want giant F+ cup tits is exaggerated by people memeing. If you look at real world studies, most people like average sized tits (seriously, google it).

Someone tell me if Laias is gonna be in here because she's the one that got me playing King's Raid a year ago and I ain't watching it if she won't be in here.

Really, the hardest part of quitting the game was because I had to leave her.

At last, the characters get a quest to do!

This episode was once again very exposition-heavy, but it did a lot of explaining about the backstory of Orvelia, King Kyle, and why the Dark Elves are persecuted so much. Even if the start was slow, I do appreciate the creators of this show taking the time to explain the background of everything instead of rushing through it in one episode.

I'm curious if we will see King Kyle later in the anime. I mean I feel like he got sucked into that Dimension with the Dark Lord himself. I Can see Kyle coming back to help his son fight the Demon Lord with the Sword that Iilya made. Or Maybe Rihito will be the one to fight along side him.

Either way I am liking this anime more thanks to this episode. A lot of intrigue.

I hope so, because this is the stupidest reason to hate entire race... like she only wanted to make blasphemous sword.
I would understand if she destroyed some part of city during experiments but not, she just made profane sword and later died.

MEH backstory, but at least it sets the anime-original plot on its baby steps in preparation for the rest of the 20+ episodes going forward.

King Kyle (the human side) and Illya (the dark elves side)'s backstory leaves me sone intriguing question on the alliance that will turn into a revenge plot down the pipeline.

Watchable and bearable at best. The journey's just begun.

There has to be more in illya backstory just to end like that and all the dark elf being persecute. Just dying like that by a horde of demons is suspicious too, I believe racists humans nobles are involve like always. (or religion sect/cult)

It was a lot of exposition, but it's a longer show so I don't mind that. I really like the whole back story for Kasel and his dad being the king etc.

Looking forward to seeing how things pan out, haven't seen a good swords & sorcery anime in a while.

Randomly was gifted a holy sword...that's kinda childish backstory but obviously better than Gibiate.

Why punish all the elves just because of that ‘one’ in a million people ( ̄▽ ̄) punishing her family should be enough...

Liked that soundtrack at the end.
