GO HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON. Even Toy Stoy 3 came second to that masterpiece, albeit a close second, but second nonetheless.

Also Summer wars was very good, but not good enough to win anything even close to an oscar.

Too bad.. oscars are made by americans that likes american stuff. An american shit will win probably Pixar since anything make in 3d cg is so masterpiece. And toy story 3 sucks, dont tell me its good.

I've seen most of the others that have gotten to this point and even though it's up against Train you Dragon and Toy Story 3 it still has a very good chance of beating them out, far better than what Eva would have had at least

when Kamikakushi won the Academy Awards it was up against Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron, Ice Age and Lilo and Stich, all of which were far superior to any of these Oscar nominations and it came out on top and Summer Wars is 10 times the movie Kamikakushi was so if all things are good and even then we may be looking at another Anime crowning moment of awesome with Summer Wars beating out some of the biggest Hollywood Blockbusters of this year!!!

and on another note I think we can expect the Disappearance to be on this list next year if everything goes Keikaku Doori

I didn't care for summer wars that much. I though the plot was stupid. Kids playing video games to save the world. They couldn't find something much better?Studio Ghibli didn't have anything good this year?

Loved Summer Wars, hope it gets nominated! I won't be disappointed if it doesn't though; other movies are just as good. :) I think that Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, and /maybe/ Despicable Me will take up the three spots for candidacy. Plus, Summer Wars needs to run in Los Angeles for a least at week to be considered. :/

Wow slow year for Animation, I dunno why it was even nominated, it was pretty mediocre. But I guess if cats and dogs can get up there anything can.

I'm proud that Summer War made the qualification. If it get on the nomination, I wouldn't be surprised, but I would be surprised if it won the oscar and outbeat Toy Story 3 and How to train your dragon.

Geez to the idiot that said don't let the anime get a oscar, did you fail in history or something. Spirited Away was the first anime to won a oscar.

Unfortunately only three films will be nominated for the Animation Oscar this year and giving the favorites are Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon and The Illusionist, it seems like Summer Wars has lost its spot. :( Amazing, we can have 10 Best Picture nods but god forbid we can have four or five animations with out this "16 for five" BS

Summer Wars was such a disappointment, I dropped it after the one hour mark. I really don't understand why so many people like this movie. On its own its maybe okay, but if you have watched The girl who leapt trough time you just can't bear this. TGWLTT was produced by the same people who made Summer Wars and Summer Wars is inferior to TGWLTT in every single aspect! So, why wasn't TGWLTT not nominated for an oscar back in 2007?
