Perfume for the new OP! :D Also now after the timeskip the story takes place in modern Japan so it's already interesting, that Yuuki guy and his family are cool and they're not afraid of Fushi and his transformations... but there seems to be something going on with Mizuha though, it's also sad how she's suffering because of her mom.

@AhmedJafar1 I don't get how Fushi becomes too OP. He is immortal and can make anything that has stimulated him. It's expected that as the story goes on more things will stimulate him and he will be able to recreate those things which add up. I think the only really increase in his power was when it was revealed he could bring back people.

Yeah, I meant the fact that he now can bring people to life is what made him to OP for me. It's still understandable, but it just took a lot of tension and emotion from the story.

After what probably has been a millenia or so FUshi finally awakens to modern times, once peace was set in the world after such a devastating war between him and the Nokkers. This one has modern technology such as trucks and cellphones. Even an Occultic club with an overly eager member called Aoki who met Fushi by chance, revealing his transformations. It seems that now the dynamic will see him living with his family along with his companions. At least only the ones who didn't find the place where they belong.

After season 2 I didn't think the series could reinvent itself yet here we are with another promising 22 episodes.

Man, I missed To Your Eternity. Can't believe it's been 3 years since last season already. I probably should've rewatched Season 1 and 2 because I barely remember anything... But I still enjoyed this episode. The new OP is a banger.

Changing the setting to modern day in the 3rd season is such a drastic change. I don't think I've seen any other anime do something like this. It feels strange but also very exciting. The new characters seem interesting. I wonder what Mizuha's deal is. Her mom is the annoying kind. But why does she seem so familiar?

I feel like since the setting is modern and "peaceful," the focus will probably be about the people's internal struggles, not that the last seasons weren't about that too. But this time, there will probably be less if not no violence. Unless the story goes in the direction of showing modern warfare and how humans are still rotten. That'd be something. Can't wait to see the whole gang reunite in the next episode. I don't understand why Fushi couldn't revive all his friends like he did with Eko lol.

Manga folks said this is the worst arc, and I agree that this whole thing is bullshit. But at least the animation is moving now (for now).

And do I even mention how bad this season is? Literally, there's like 1 or 3 shows worth watching. I might actually just watch OPM and Uma Musume at this point.

@Ronninn Modern World is actually not the worst arc. It is just a mediocre arc with incredibly good moments sprinkled around. Cyberpunk Dystopia Arc is the worst.

omg poor Fushi, he came to pick up March and felt so sad when seeing March being happy with her new family. I'm liking the future arc so far though it just got introduced, curious how Fushi will deal with modern problems

I was so overjoyed by this episode. I feel a tiny bit like Fushi — after a really long wait, we finally get to enjoy the peaceful times, and just have fun with friends, old and new. Knowing past seasons, I expect some kind of disaster will strike, but I'm ready for it. This series has taught me to live each happy moment to its fullest, no matter what comes after.

Season 2 already nose-dived hard enough, but here we are, still kinda free-falling. Not sure how to feel about this one. You can't even say it's the adaptation doing things, because nah, this is actually how the source has been written.

Another 20-something episodes incoming… let’s just pray it doesn’t end with everyone casually house-hunting on Mars or something lol.
@Softhenic03 Not sure what you dislike about this start lol This entire arc is pretty amazing. Not anyone's fault if you think the time between seasons makes it feel like a "nose-dive".

Interesting premise, but can the writers really pull this off without creating a complete cluster? They've amazed me in the past, but they'll deserve a Hall of Fame nomination if they pull this off with the quality of the previous seasons.

@KariNull He's mostly just a hater who can't be objective nor fair. The only time this show nosedived was after episode 1, where episode 1 was a perfect 10/10, whereas the rest of season 1 and season 2 hovered a whole 1.5 points lower. It's hard to imagine what this show can do to go back up to the amazing experience from the first episode.

S2 was kind of a downer for me. Let's hope this one is better. Though if I remember correctly, he can just revive people now, so we may not even face life-threatening situations now. Probably something like that mom expecting way too much of her daughter, and some emotional moments revolving around those.

Ok, so I'm not sure I like any of the new characters. Especially Yuuki, he kinda creeps me out and feels very spoilt.

Also, Fushi?? Why did you drop your friends off in random places and not altogether like you did with Horse and Eko??

Something just doesn't seem right... Maybe it is meant to feel abrupt, we will see.
Get excited, I suppose.

Oh boy... this season is gonna feel like such a fever dream, I swear. Fushi went from fighting Nokkers and bandits to now fighting bullying and teenage angst smh.

So-so start, I guess. Pacing was weird, Fushi continues to act like a naive kid and the idea of bringing back fan-favorite characters such as March and Gugu ONE MORE TIME feels incredibly lazy at this point.

@zz2000 More than just being pretty popular, Perfume is one of the most famous girl groups in Japanese pop history, there is hardly anyone in Japan above the age of 20 who doesn't know them! They haven't done a lot of anime themes before because their music doesn't really lend itself to it, but they finally got a proper OP song so I've caught up on this show just because of them hahaha.

Good choice of performance! That was one of their best Tokyo Dome concerts and that says a lot!
@Crez I always thought their music might be suitable for certain types of anime, maybe those with a tech theme to it. Like using Electro World for a Digimon anime.

Agreed the concert looks amazing. This year's rendition of Perfume no Okite was marvellous.

Is the girl related to the yandere who started the cult?

Originally I was not looking forward to the future/present arc but this was a good episode, Im excited to see where the story goes with apparently no enemies this time.

Also holy shit 3 years since season 2?! Times flies..
I remember S2 having bad pacing and just not liking it as much as S1, which is why I have low expectations for this.

@DeidaraSanji there is a future arc? Huh.

It was a little rushed, tbh. This feels like 2 or 3 episodes' worth of content smushed into one. There wasn't a lot of time to breathe, set up atmosphere or let things settle, because you're thrown into the next scene immediately.

Fully agree, and especially with a first episode I felt that they should have really set the scene a little more with so many new characters being introduced all at once, you dont really get to experience each person's personality. This isnt a huge downfall necessarily but felt like a huge change from s1 and s2 in comparison where each character had their own little arc.

It also bugged me that some really impactful panels from the manga felt a bit brushed over like the one with Mizuha standing over the balcony but I suppose thats due to differences in manga/anime, and this specific anime's art style. But, with the recent increase in anime quality (specifically the art) I feel like they could have done much better in communicating and emphasising the tone of certain moments

Good start. Bit of whiplash with the seemingly peaceful life. I don't trust it. Not with 22 episodes to watch but happy to see Fushi enjoying all the new experiences. Ending made me emotional and we haven't even gotten to next episode. I'm excited to see everyone back proper.

solid first ep. I am just wondering,as Fushi is so much older now, shouldn't he be using some old Japanese? similar as I'd someone started to speak similarly as in Edo etc? people should get confused, no? he also wears old fashioned clothes so.. I would definitely wonder, meeting someone like him

So we knew this was coming from the teaser shown at the end of season 2, but it's still very weird to see. Basically everyone that died can be brought back with Fushi's newfound powers, so are we just gonna have modern times SoL? The story definitely could have ended with season 2 and Fushi defeating all those blob things, so I am curious where this goes.

Obviously Mizuha or whatever her name was is a descendent of that one family that was obsessed with protecting Fushi.

I approached season 3 admittedly with some trepidation due to the disaster that was season 2's artwork, but this first episode was quite nicely done. Very fast paced though. I can't wait til next week's episode.

What a bizarre first episode.

Even by anime standards some of the newer characters got way too friendly and too comfortable with Fushi way too fast. Maybe it's just me.

We are back. I miss pink blood so much but this OP bangs too! I’ve been waiting to see Fushi in present day for ages and I’m glad it’s here. On the surface, it looks like the perfect world free of conflict, but as we see with Mizuha’s mom who’s 100 percent going to be in contention for worst parent of the season, even without war there’s still problems.

Felt a little rushed at times, but largely enjoyed the premiere. Teased some things about the world, introduced our characters, got Fushi up to speed on modern technology etc. Can’t get over dude promising Fushi he wouldn’t tell anyone about his presence just for him to go snitch to the entire occult research team lmaoo. Totally won’t cause problems.

Excited to see how this plays out

So a new season, what can wrong with it XD

Mizuha’s situation is quite dire, Rarely seen portrait a mother that shallow, she
expects her to do everything but forgot every previous efforts, is she just dumb?
They made the scene unnecessary silly on the same level as Takopi.

I just know that I'm gonna love this season if it's adapted well but Firstly, I'd like to say that this new opening for season 3 was awesome even after watching the first episode I rewatched the song like 5 times cuz it's such a catchy tune. I loved yuki's this is our secret bit and how fushi felt so free, happy and alive. It's been a while since he had so much fun

So far, after seeing the first episode, my hopes are high with how they will adapt this arc.
I wasn't too interested when I was reading the manga for this arc so hopefully seeing it again in the anime will change my mind
(Also this will be a good refresher because the arc after just confused me even more)

Love how the first episode already set the ground for all the different groups, especially Mizuha's story. Hype!

The opening is pretty good, I enjoyed it a lot, but I believe the opening from S1 is better.

As for the episode, it was ok, I guess. The best part of the whole franchise is the first 12 episodes from S1, which were superb, and I loved them. Sadly, after the first 12 episodes of S1, this anime got crappy with some good episodes here and there sprinkled over the crappiness, but overall, this franchise got crappy.

And then I heard that this season is supposed to be even crappier than S2, which is not good. But I'm willing to give this season a chance and see where it goes.
