Episode like this would have much more impact in a series without painfully unfunny gag characters and jarring overreactions in every other scene. I already stopped carrying when they had dogfights in planes with no aerodynamical proprieties and chunks of steel nailed on them for no reason instead, but heavy machine gun fire from guns looking like short single shot shotguns with no magazines still made me roll my eyes. Remember the first season when this series tried to do modern science with primitive means? It was cool. There were no coal powered gorilla faced wooden cars skidding around. Or purple lipped chain smoking marines in predator masks with guns that had no business to have sniper rifle accuracy or range. They could drop all the science talk bullshit from the start and make it a stone-punk instead of this mess.

In the manga, Joel asked if anyone could translate the watch signal for him because the signal could cut out at any second.

That same scene in this episode had him say HE would cut off the signal if someone DIDN'T translate.

Completely wrong portrayal of that scene.

Reminder that nothing of this would have happened if they had treated Xeno like a proper hostage instead of another science playmate smh.

Meh episode. With all these confirmed deaths (a grenade exploded right at Taiju's feet ffs), it's now practically confirmed that Medusa can even resurrect the dead so all the angst and melodrama ended up being for nothing. Just mere shock value at best.

Last twist with apparently the whole world being petrified again was cool, I guess. Will there be another huge timeskip? Will plot armour make one of our heroes conveniently fall into a nitric acid pool? Will the story reset with another group of protagonists starting from zero just like Senkuu in S1EP.1-2 and then making them come across Senkuu and co.'s statues later on?

Wow, that was so good. I have no words to describe what I just watched.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

One of the best episodes of Dr. Stone (and among recent anime that I've been watching). The episode is a perfect culmination of Senku's and the Kingdom of Science's goal in reviving everyone in the world and using science to forge progress to discover Why-Man's true identity and nature. It was exciting to see how everyone on Senku's team, including former enemies from previous arcs like Magma, Tsukasa, Hyoga, and Moz all gave it their all to trigger the working Medusa. It also perfectly supports on the idea that scientific inquiry is a collaborative endeavor that will continue to advance, standing on the shoulders of the past generations. Really looking forward to how this develops (maybe the Ishigami villages somehow get involved again)!

I cried like a child in this episode, it highlights how amazing Dr. Stone is and everything that has been built up until now is showcased, simply the best anime that exists, I have loved Dr. Stone forever and this episode affected me so much, anyone who didn't feel anything in this episode after following the journey up to this point has no heart, what a beautiful and impactful episode.

What an episode! It was very emotional and exciting. "When and how is this going to be sorted out?" Even though everything was falling apart and getting worse and worse, with an ending that had never been seen before in the series, the whole gang was mortally wounded or dead (a really surprising plot twist).

In the end, it seems that this jellyfish that caused the apocalypse on the planet and was the bad guy's main weapon will end up saving our group.

It will be a long and difficult week of waiting.

Wow, all the emotions in this outstanding episode. But I managed a smile at the end while fighting my own battle pushing back the tears. Science lives on! But how about our heroes? I feel equal parts of hope and despair. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Soo? either a thousand years later, or some kinda make shift thing happens and the rival fluid is in a perfect area to revive one. just saying 😉

I don't get why if they're so smart that they don't just set up a shower of sorts that dispenses revival fluid. I don't think they ever specified how much is required to revive one person. In the very first episode, Senku was revived by a tiny bit of cave bat urine acid, right? It was just drops of it if I remember correctly. It doesn't make sense that they set up these convoluted plans to revive, post petrification.

They could just suspend bottles or reservoirs of revival fluid with pinholes in them so they drip very slowly. All they would have to do is just run under or camp under one as petrification is about to start. I get that it's etching solution, so it's not exactly the kind of thing you want on your skin. But what danger are some chemical burns if petrification followed by revival makes wounds go away? It's an easy decision in my view.

Besides that, they could have looked into other methods of revival. It's dumb that they advanced down this arc after gaining the Medusa. The moon can wait. Developing alternate revival solutions should have come first. At least gather up some of those petrified birds and experiment on more ways to undo the petrification on the way to the Americas. That should have been a higher priority considering they have billions of people to revive.

Don't get me wrong, I love the story. I just don't see how these sorts of things aren't considered. We're looking at very easy and obvious solutions. Could I write something as good as this one? Definitely not, but I can't help from seeing very simple fixes to the struggles they're putting themselves through in the series. Anyways… I'm anxious to see how this plays out. Did someone do something intelligent with the revival fluid, or are we looking at another enormous time jump until Senku or any of the gang are moving around again. I can't wait to see.

what's the use of the revival fluid shower? the Medusa wasn't working in the first place, and getting petrified is not a daily occurrence for them to pre build it. Lastly Stanly was on his way to Massacre them, so are you suggesting for them split up manpower to build a shower instead of using all their resources building the single thing they need to win? that's so illogical.

also maybe you overlooked it but petrifying the entire world where in that would be useful was just a last minute decision. their originalplanw as just to use a localized petrification and have people outside de-petrify them, so what's the use of building a shower in that context when they already have a solution to what they're originally attempting to do?

literally lock him up? I think you're missing a key idea here in that THEY WANT STANLEY'S SHIP Senku knows that Xeno was doing something fishy, and its fine for him, why? BECAUSE HE WANTS SOMETHING THAT STANLY HAS i.e. the ship.

this is the all time best episode of dr stone
the why man got his wish to petrify all of humanity again, so in a way he won
but unless senku has some science to revive himself sooner, i think this is a massive gamble
whoever wakes up first wins
im very curious who the petrification beam will be able to save
how dead was senku when the petrification revived him after tsukasa broke his neck?
i also want to see the perspective of the people in ishigami village and the petrification kingdom
one of my criticisms of season 3 was they barely showed the perspective of those who got petrified
i want to see what they are thinking when the petrification beam reaches them and their perspective when they are petrified

what i think is happening is that they are going to be petrified for thousands of years, i dont see any way senku would have set up a way for anyone to be revived immediately
senku probably wakes up first, and its like prestiging in a game, you go back to the start but you are stronger this time and you have more knowledge
if the petrification saves tsukasa, i dont think senku will revive him early because last time he did that he made the kingdom of might and tried to kill senku
he has more reasons to stay by senkus side now but so long as the americans are petrified tsukasa or even hyoga has the potential to take over the world

In the twelfth hour, Senku, being the leader that she is, told these two girls to get out of there while they have the chance, masking his selfless way to save them as an order. Chelsea is as cute as she is perceptive. She may goof around even more than Luna, but her bluntness allows her to see through the ruse and perceive just how hopeless the situation is...

As was in the manga chapters, the climax of this arc in Dr.Stone has always been the absolute most impactful point in the entire story!
There is no way the Science kingdom could hope to win against a head-on assault by Stanley's squad. They are outgunned, outmanned with the 3 strongest fingers effectively KIA, and most certainly outmanoeuvred. There is no way to escape. One by one, the members of this little Science Kingdom fall like chess pieces on a chessboard. What little hope remains on the sole development of the diamond battery, which it too was also burned to the ground...

Fortune grace the patient, Kaseki's findings have contributed massively to Joel's breakthrough in repurposing the diamond for the new petrification device he holds. And with Joel himself declaring his success, Senku made the boldest, most uncharacteristic command to petrify them all! (Technically, in the manga, he told Joel to petrify the entire American continent, excluding the folks over in Japan) However their attempt to do so was cut short as they're not so lucky to be able to use the petrification device before it was snatched away by Brady.

Alright, now comes the best part...
There is no question as to how much faith and trust the Science Kingdom members have in Senku. He is their leader, he is their hope, their saviour. Time and time again, they've busted their asses off to work for his agenda and even sacrificed themselves like they did when they got petrified on Treasure Island. However, this time, it's quite the opposite. Petrification is in itself salvation. To be petrified by the medusa is equivalent to being saved, such is the nature of our own Dr.Stone.

SO I find it so heartmoving to see the members in Corn City took it upon themselves to make a last-ditch charge to retake the petrification device, a final act of rebellion that they knew full well would be their doom. This time, not by the petrifying light of the medusa, but by a hail of bullets. Meatshields all to secure a future they envision under the leadership of Senku Ishigami.

At last, the win condition has been reached. It's ironic on two fronts. 1. The activation of the petrification beam from the medusa is now a form of salvation to save them all and 2. The one to activate the device is none other than the one who started it all 3700 years ago. The entity that managed to petrify the entirety of human civilization twice. The bane of humanity, Why-Man.

Welcome to the advent of the 2nd Global Petrification Event!!!

You know how you get to a manga chapter that at the time of reading it so controversial, so full of events and sparks such a discussion that you can't wait until it gets animated in order to relive it all over again in another medium? Well, guess what we've come across this time, it's the one. I don't think I need to explain anything else that happens nor the feelings I had while going through each panel. It speaks for itself and now we're in the final stretch...

Okay, I never expected to feel despair in Dr Stone because up to this point Senku always seemed to be like a thousand steps ahead of any foe. But that sequence of people just dying because obviously, a bunch of kids won't defeat the military in a conventional way, was the most desperate I've felt and I think Gen expressed that pretty well.
I know that this is not a dark series and everybody will probably be resurrected by the effects of the petrification, but still, until I know that for sure I'm a bit shocked.

Great episode, intense and well thought out like always but i just don't understand two things, i didn't get the diamond splitting in half being the reason the device works can anyone explain? second is the Why Man message, did Senku make his own that loops just before he was supposedly shot?

Anyhow 3 more episodes for this season to end (it's not the finale if i'm right?) i can't even picture what will happen i just hope our characters will come back :')
@ropiel tl;dr Why-man was always broadcasting on the same frequency constantly, Joel simply swapped over to that frequency hence why he messed with a switch/knob on his watch.

So this might just be the first war in history where someone will win posthumously. I mean, come on, these kids trying to match military vets in battle strategy? Was always zero chance. With bodies dropping left and right, and the scale of operation Stanley's crew was carrying out, you'd expect the US crew on the other side to stop Senku’s squad from tinkering with Medusa tech. But hey, we needed this plot convenience. Albeit, the crew did get stopped, but yeah, that was a bit late xD

Btw, let’s be real, nobody’s actually staying dead. This isn’t that kind of anime. You could always smell that big “radio miracle moment” coming, but man, was it not damn well executed. All of them were so ready to drop dead for the greater good. They literally pressed the reset button on humanity and stoned the whole planet, or at least it has started, AGAIN. Peak definition of a “grand plan” lol.

Been waiting for this payoff, and yeah, it landed. Next one will be even more epic. Just can't wait!
@Softhenic03 I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but Stanley's communications got cut off before the massacre. They couldn't have told their allies to stop Senku's team from working on the Medusa if they wanted to. So not quite the same kind of plot convenience here.

One of the best episodes in Dr. Stone, if not the best.
I think we never got such an intense episode from Dr. Stone yet, much darker than what is usual for the series. Seeing the character we've come to like die one by one was a chilling sight, seeing Luna just crashing out after seeing the fortress being demolished by Stanley's crew was devastating. Gen realizing they were all going to die there... But one of the harshest parts was seeing Kaseki crying, since he couldn't accomplish what he was tasked to, and would die without contributing to the science they wanted.

Midway the episode started changing the tension into the more usual Dr. Stone style, when Joel announced he made a working Medusa device. Not a big fan of that, considering the dire situation Senku's crew was in, and I feel like they could have directed that scene better, especially since after this we get to a more dire situation, when the Medusa device gets stolen by the opposing party.

When Senku realized Stanley didn't have communications, I understood what he planned to do: petrify the whole world again with the new Medusa device. It was the only way to protect both parties. But still, seeing the whole crew working together to get to that device, getting killed in the process, was really hard, and the anime did a good job portraying that. I wasn't expecting Joel in the end to use his watch to activate the Medusa, using Why Man's transmissions for that. Something presented to us in the end of the 3rd season, it's kind of genius to use it this way.

Besides that shift in tone in the middle of the episode, I feel like the anime handled this difficult situation really well, and I got chills from the last moments of the episode, when the whole world was getting petrified again, but this time using Senku's team Science! In the end, they won this fight.
Kohaku, Hyouga and Tsukasa's sacrifices were fundamental for this plan to work, so they really saved the whole team with their attitude.

I think having the opening at the beginning was a bit weird for the episode, considering how upbeat it is, so I feel like they could have cut it, and opted to just use the ending, and use that minute and a half depicting the dire situation in more detail, but ok.

I suppose Luna and Chelsea will be fundamental next episode, since they are the ones with the revival fluid, so maybe they will pull of something like Senku did back in season 3, although I'm not sure if they know how this beam works, since none of them were part of the crew at that point.
It has been a long time since Dr. Stone was this exciting honestly, and this episode was epic (in fact, a lot of the episodes of the anime I'm watching this week were some of the best episodes for the respective series, I'm not sure what happened this week).

Can't wait for the next episode! Only 3 episodes to go, but it seems this arc is coming to an end!

So did Senku set up a trap device with fluid to awaken him or someone in the camp just after the light passes?
Have no idea how we are not getting a 2000 year flash forward otherwise.
Add to that the fact that The Why Man is still transmitting the signal over and over again, making medusa trigger over and over again too. Unless it's battery gives up or the signal stops we are pretty much f'ed.

Damn. This episode was brutal. Everyone was getting shot left and right. But no one died instantly. Because if they did they probably can't be revived by petrification lol. That's convenient.

But wow. They're petrifying the whole world again? How's that gonna work? Who can use the revival fluid if there's no one left? Don't tell me, there's going to be another massive time jump?! That'd be fucking crazy. But it'd also be another race against time between who reawakens first, Senku's team or Xeno's team? If that happens it'd be so fucking crazy. Really can't wait to see what happens.

@DAK-DAK-MASTA Tsukasa and Hyoga might've died. But Kohaku kept yapping even after getting shot. So chances are all of them are still conscious even if they're at death's door. So they're barely alive enough to be saved by the Medusa. This is Dr. STONE. I'd be very surprised if any of them actually dies.
