I mean everything. - manga does everything anime can do, but not animation and sound - live action has motion and sound, but can't blend 3DCG fantastical elements and real actors as well as anime; even if we talk about anime with no fantastical elements like most slice of life, the anime art style is something that makes it stand out - non-Japanese animation could theoretically do everything anime can do, but it is simply too different in terms of writing |

The way anime incorporates japanese traditions, folklore, and customs gives me a glimpse into Japan’s heritage. Also, the creative world building with fantastical settings, unique characters, and intricate storylines really draws me in. |

| It's the biggest and most varied animation industry....that's it really. I love animation, it's probably my favourite way to enjoy storytelling, and no one else does it better. There isn't anything about the stories, tropes etc that I think makes anime standout honestly, which probably puts me at odds with people here. You can find YA storytelling, sexiness or anything else, anywhere else. It's just no one really does it in animation/comic form to the extent anime/manga do. |
| Visually pleasing Potential for action sequence and facial expression are limitless, or just individual expressionism in general. Exaggerated dramas don't really work well in live action, but they could work really well in fiction. Things like maid cafe is a little cringe in real life, but it's completely normal in anime. Potential for story telling is greater in anime than in live action, iyashikei/slice of life for example I don't think would have worked with live action series or films. Sports anime are also far more entertaining than live action sports series/movies. |

And I enjoy how European tales for example may be adapted into an anime. Also the fact that it’s accessible and I can share it with everyone. What about you KMIR? | We have one of these threads every month... and every month, I do not know how to answer. I could answer "There's nothing like it, there's no alternative", but only that wouldn't do it justice. But I could say that a large part of it is because anime is sincere, it's honest and doesn't limit itself in exploring lots of ideas, emotions, aesthetics, etc It's niche media, and by virtue of being niche media, it will alienate a lot of people, but will also make itself possible of connecting to some people on a much deeper level. |

| I just noticed that it's very different in comparison to other mediums. I find that it's most similar to cartoons, but even most western cartoons have a certain type of humor for adults that I just don't enjoy. I tend to like fantasy anime and there aren't too many cartoons that capture the vibe that anime does. |

| It is fun! The characters are usually energetic or full of life / drive, even in more serious shows. I think anime as a medium offers a lot of flexibility and lets the writers be more creative than they could otherwise. |
| It started out as escapism, but the more I watched, the more I realized how amazing this medium is. Animation can bring any imagination to life, and for me, anime does it best. | I like to like its style. OF course there isn't a single anime art style, but I like how it's USUALLY stylized in a way I find satisfying. I feel like compared to American cartoons it brings in serious animation made for teens and adults where as for the longest time it was either: you have a serious animated show for children, a comedic animated show for children or a comedic animated show for adults. NOW in recent years it has gotten way better compared to 20+ years ago. |
