I love this unique take on a short training arc and it shows just how important Turbo Granny is and isn't just the funniest character in the show, but more than that a important character for Okarun. I can't wait to see Okarun vs The Evil Eye and I also can't wait to see Evil Eye in school from what it looks like from the preview and not going to lie it look like the classic Dan Da Dan humor is going to be here next episode!!

Same bro!! I hope they make some movie based of a arc like Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and what Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man are getting this year. It would be peak!!

Absolutely theatrical performance!
So basically the fight against musicians was preparing Okarun to fight Evil Eyes in "full force"

Honestly a bit underwhelming in the second half of the training arc regarding the narrative (audio and visuals were stunning as usual of course, also ghosts of famous composers as manifestation of stressed music students touches my soul).

The thing is that in the first half we see how Okarun starts to understand the rythm thing thanks to the peak of music HUNTING SOUL but during the singer giants part he just kinda gets it? I just assumed he understood the first time when he saved Aira and then we woild see a more visible change in his movement, but he just glowed more red. And that's kinda all to the episode: training arc apart from smaller scenes, that focus more on emotions, that will be significant in the future.

So yeah, good episode as always, but definetly the weakest for me so far.

Mozart was also known to be very much into talking about poop (somehow???) so him yelling "poop! poop!" just cracked me up XD

This anime... insane AND historically accurate!! Amazing

Would love to know more insight into other historical eastereggs, the only other one (other than Ode to Joy) I can think of is Dvořák talking like station amplifier because of his Humoresque sounding like a train, thus being a base for alot (at least then) humorous sentences about struggles at public wagon toilet.

this episode felt short, lol
It would have been so funny if Jiji didn't turn into Evil Eye at the end because he secretly learned to control him or something lol
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~

In the immortal words of Cartman, "man that sh.t was trippy". Scenery, action, everything being grey... It worked. Hopefully the nth cliffhanger of the series will have its end fast during the next episode after watching the interesting previews.

That "powerup" didn't make a lick of sense at all, except vaguely metaphorically. But whatever, now we have a stronger Okrun who somehow can take on Evil Eye after one night of an exhausting rhythmic dancing session. Rule of cool overshadowed all internal logic here and that's somewhat annoying, but the upcoming fight will hopefully be good enough to make up for this random use of a deus ex machina.

If they really wanted to stretch this "music rhythm fight" logic to something workable as a powerup, why use the tempo of European classical music, which is 4-note based and the same foundation as metal-rock and Jpop-rock styles of music, and not go for musical styles that have more complex half- and inter-tones like Arabic, Persian, Indian, African genres? Those regions have multiple musical styles that fit 5, 7, 8, 10, 12 beats into the same audial space that Western 4-beat tempos use. That'd give Granny and Ballerina-lady's jumping way more edge over Evil Eye, no?
Well whatever. I thought the series would get more meta about this if it was going to use the old shounen crutch of a BS not-fully-explained not-fully-logical powerup trope. A little disappointing there from a narrative and worldbuilding conceptual standpoint.

Lots of sakuga features in this music centered episode. With opera singers, classical music being thrown around left and right and a wonderful display of rhythm and performance, bth Aira and Ken were able to overcome everything (twice even). Was there something Aira realized after all of it? I'm not sure but she surely was the MVP right there. And now it's time for the rematch between Evil Eye and Ken. Will that practice be enough?

I just felt that they gave their all to make a mediocre material (this particular musical debacle) look like a visual masterpiece in this episode, and I have all the respect for it.

I liked this episode. I wasn't as invested as I usually am, because it was basically a mini training arc with little emotional depth, but the animation and directing were still top tier.

The last few minutes were cool. I'm excited for next week!

but stewing on it they just decided to go hard with it unapologetically and that's awesome like

and then the way they ended it just sets next episode up for greatness so yah I can't hate

In case to those people who are wondering on who the Ghost Conductor is, and to some who confuse him as the American conductor Leonard Bernstein.

The Conductor is the Austrian born Conductor Herbert Von Karajan. One those considered as 20th century’s best conductor. He likes to play his Symphonies in faster tempo and more booming sound than his contemporaries.

With the ending of last ep I didn't think the fight would go like this but it was certainly fun for sure and it seems like Okarun has definitely learned something from it.
Although knowing the strength of evil eye I'm not really sure how much of a difference its going to make yet, should be a solid battle from what we've seen so far though.
