You’re telling me I get to learn about rocks from a stacked goddess like Nagi? Oh this is gonna be hell of a time lol. Jokes aside, wow Bind has really done it with this one, visuals are absolutely beautiful and the animation is top notch, very reminiscent of their treatment of Onimai, I actually missed their show from this winter called “Flower and Asura” but I started it up last week and they’ve definitely put a bit more into this one.

Now I’m gonna bring attention to the thing I’m sure brought a lot of people to this show outside of the usual educational CGDCT audience, being Nagi lol, no doubt she is stunning, all the tasteful camera angles and bounciness kept making my jaw hit the floor, I’m not sure if they’re gonna continue delivering so hard on the fanservice regarding her but I’m just gonna say I’m 100% okay with it lol. And of course there’s also the educational theme of the show, being mineralogy, I saw someone else bring this up already but it is reminiscent of “Asteroid in Love”, it wasn’t the main focus there but it’s cool to see this topic in another CGDCT anime, and it’s also because I think rocks are cool af on their own lol. I also really like our main girl Ruri, she’s cute but a bit spoiled and kinda bratty, but I like those aspects about her, not the typical MC traits, like that scene where Nagi had to get her to behave when she got upset about the sign was really good, I need Nagi to discipline me too if you know what I’m sayin’ lol.

And wow what a strong OP and ED pair, I’m especially a fan of ED with the acoustic song by Hana Hope and unique visuals, so damn good, OP was great too of course, both were very fitting for the show.

Always loved minerals as a kid. This is going to be a neat show. I definitely paused on all of the science bits and even went to reference some tectonic plate maps that I hadn't thought about in a a while.

The animation was really good and had some very cool perspective shots. Nagi is crazy stacked to a distracting degree, but if that gets people to watch a show about rocks, I guess that's fine.

Also, it's really strange that Ruri was out in the mountains looking for crystals and then just followed a total stranger around and then got in her car. Did I miss something?

I bet this was funded by the Japanese government to spike interest in the topic and increase the potential discovery of rare minerals domestically, considering China has a firm grip on that market globally. Our stupid politicians ignored the enormous threat China is to the point where they release a plague on the globe. Nothing changed in the wake of it because we're too dependent on that crap hole to hold them to account. God, I hate China so much.

Rage aside, this anime is beautifully made. And don't even get me started on dat butt. I need to go to church to pray the horny away, but there's no service tonight. Save me!

The production quality on this is just - wow. And the car is so detailed, wtf are they cooking to have this kind of budget for a show about rocks??

Also there is ass - very detailed.

I love stories like this. I've already learned a few things.

I wasn't a fan of Ruri, but I like how Nagi put her in her place and told her to be respectful of the law.

I love educative anime like Dr Stone and Cells at Work, so there was no way I'd miss this anime. It is of a similar.. vein, but with a dash of my beloved Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous).

Which is not technically an educative anime (it's a drama), but still covered many major mineral gems and their properties.

So they started with quartz crystals and red garnet, and found a huge deposit of both. I assume they'll discover gradually rarer and thus harder to find minerals in the next episodes.

Perhaps the season will end with the king of minerals? A tiny diamond or two should be a cool sparkly surprise to wrap up the season.

Cute girls doing educational things. I like it. Ruri was a bit a brat to start with but I think she will grow out of that as the story progresses. Ruri started her journey for selfish reasons, but it looks like this encounter with Nagi has a sparked a love for lapidary and her joy is infectious. I'll be adding this comfy "rock" anime to my watchlist.

I just couldn't look away for some reason

Seriously that animation was so beautiful it made me sad about all the other poorly animated crap I have sat through.

Really wish we had graduate students like that in any department when I went to school :(

Did my girl Nagi justice—she's got all the curves I envisioned, lol. All in all, a great first episode!
@PhainonHSR They went above and beyond. It was so out of place that I had to go and check out the Manga to see exactly how much liberty Bind took when it came to her measurements and yeah, they did what they wanted to do for sure.

I'm still going to enjoy this show a lot. Going to learn a lot and it's always nice to see a character really develop an interest in something.

I've loved mineralogy ever since I was young and this anime hits the right spot. For most people that might not know much about geology, they might find this anime just being "another one" but the details on the way they explain and showcase how minerals are formed is way too clean. It's unreal the work they put into this, reminds me on how fun it was to watch Cell's at work and learn how the human body is so complex. Hope you guys enjoy it as well

I'll be honest, Nagi's thiccness in the trailer made me look forward to this show... and my god she's thicc! Am I seeing best girl of the season already?

Well, thiccness aside, I really liked this first episode. It was fun and wow, what a gorgeous looking show! Looking forward to more.

I may not like MT at all as their main work but I always love their works on Cgdct shows like Onimai. It's also a highlight of tha anime of the year at the time. And this show really meets my expectation for the standard that has been set. Just like Onimai, the show boast a very lively character animation and also huge plot as a bonus lmao. It's also pretty educational on the subject of minerals and that's quite a refreshing theme. Nice premier.

The visuals and animation are stunning. So much care, expression and flexing put into every moment. It almost feels like too much. The music, too, wow.

The extreme curves and camera angles are honestly distracting and not really necessary. The show looks plenty beautiful and interesting even without them.

Right now the actual characters and the situations are pretty plain, though. Will give 3-4 episodes.

Fun, cute, educational and relaxing. I love this. Nagi is so calm and Ruri is so energetic. Their interactions pretty much remind me of Barakamon ♡ we might get some life lessons here and there too. The OP and ED are strong for a laid-back anime.

Visually-speaking, this is the most beautiful anime of the season I've seen so far. I hope it retains those visuals throughout all of its episodes, because it's astonishingly beautiful.

Nagi is also just thicc Sakaki. Like, they made her absurdly thicc and voluptuous.

Ngl, this has to be the most visually beautiful anime this season.
I can see why it reminded of Onimai, same studio which is Bind and same director.
Love Ruri's personality and the animation, background, and visuals are breathtaking.
And it's educational too!!! New CGDCT in the house and I'm sure as hell here for it!!!!
The OP is beautiful and calm, I like it.

A CGDCT that delve into rocks and minerals is a subject that I never seen before in CGDCT genre (or anime in general). So far the first episode is very interesting and I like it so much, definitely the most compelling one that I watch in this season so far.

As usual Studio Bind never miss when we're talking about animation, I hope they keep adapting more CGDCT materials in the future. But I really want to appreciate the music in this anime. Whether it's the opening, the endings, or the tracks, It's so beautiful and not the type of music that I'd expect to encounter in here.

Anime that I have been waiting for since the trailer was released, and the wait was not disappointed despite the narrative pace is slow and the attention is almost exclusively on the minerals except for a small detour to introduce the characters. The quality of the drawings, the scenography and the animations is fabulous, as well as the colors, which captured my attention while watching the episode.

The fluid and lively animation caught me completely off guard. I bet everyone was expecting the rocks to look beautiful, but they went the extra mile and gave it their all in every scene! Just look at Ruri in the very first scenel; how she's posing with the necklace she wants to buy!

Ruri reminds me of Konata for some reason. They look similar, minus the different hair colour, but their mannerisms are polar opposites. I didn't like her at first and I'm glad Nagi was able to scold her so quickly. Just because you're the main character (or, to take it a bit further, just because you want something) doesn't mean you can do as you please and get away with it. Still, it worked. It's the first episode and we already see her mature a bit!

I think I prefer the ending to the opening. Is it just me?

It looks like Nagi drives a Mini Cooper, but how the hell could she afford it if she's a university graduate? She must be either mega rich or driving her parents' car; either way, amazing taste! The Mini's a beloved classic!

Also, best shot from the opening. Nothing like taking a break on the side of the road while going on a trip with your friends. I can't wait until more girls join the group!

This is going to be a great show!

This is one of the shows i was looking forward to most. It's funny and cute and the gems and scenery are pretty.

Too bad I dont know good spots to find crystals and gems where I am. It isnt quite the same just going to a mine as finding something more in nature.

I love these type of educational shows where you know the author behind it just used their work as a reason to rant about their hobbies like this. They always seem like the most genuine and fun to watch.

If Ruri Rocks had dropped in the '90s, I would be out there with rock hammers and field notebooks instead of Beyblades and Tamagotchis.
The way it blends mineralogy with cozy slice-of-life energy, it’s the kind of show that makes you want to touch rocks and classify it by sediment layer.
