I don't understand, so what happened to her daughter? Will the characters be able to find her again and save her, if possible?
@RobertBobert She died, probably a victim of child trafficking. The mother spent the money that would have been used to pay off debts on the dress she bought for her daughter.

@MarusaruMaia on a further depressing note, as a lingering spirit, Acro's been wearing her daughter's dress she bought as a gift all this time.

This week I had already cried like a bitch (again) with Look Back, and I knew that this Dandadan episode would adapt that damn part. I thought I wouldn't get emotional again and, OH BOY, I was so fucking wrong lol

I identify with this part because I'm the son of a widowed mother. My mom took care of me and my brother by herself and always did everything she could to ensure that we had a happy and healthy childhood, buying us lots of presents and always making the most delicious food. I almost lost her during the pandemic, and after finishing watching this episode I felt obligated to give her a bear hug.

Direction, animation, voice-acting, soundtrack, everything is absolutely perfect. For me it is already the AOTY since day one, but this episode is out of this world. Thank you so fucking much, Fuuga Yamashiro and Science Saru staff!! Oh, and for those who haven't read the manga, get ready, because this is just the beginning.

@Zeroflamez Prove what wrong? Your entire criticism of this episode was based on the assumption that this is the author's best work, followed by asking him to do something original. Newsflash: THERE ARE NO ORIGINAL STORIES! Every story that can be written has been written and all that new authors can do is find a new little twist to put on existing ideas and execute in a fun and interesting manner. The writing and production of this anime is faaaar better than the likes of any of its contemporaries, whether it's JJK, Demon Slayer, Mashle, etc. Your comment makes no sense because you still believe that there's such a thing as an original thought.
@phantom346

No, my entire criticism was that of the back story and only the back story. I never said anything about this being the authors best writing. You're making up your own head cannon here. If you're gonna fall back on done to death tropes at least do enough to make it feel special to your work, and that's my problem with it. The Anime tried their best to elevate the source material in this episode, and they did elevate it but it doesn't change the fact that underneath all that high quality production there's still a back story that's super mid and uninspired and feels like it belongs in another manga/Anime.

Oh wow, what a great adaptation, rather subtly adapted due to the sensitive topics but very well done. Though the ED song kinda spoiled the mood. 5/5 though

this was a pure masterpiece and i think everyone should watch it. dandadan must be the best new gen's shônen. The music was so divine and pure. even tho we dont like the character the flashback and the backstory of the yôkai was so good i think everyone changed their mind about her.

Having initially read through Dandadan a few months ago in preparation for the anime, I was in love with it almost from the start, giving it the usual hesitancy that comes with series similar to it. I had high hopes given that Science Saru were the ones to be making the adaptation, so when I got to the Acro-Silky flashback, I was ready for something insane and/or heartbreaking. Even then I was astounded by Yukinobu Tatsu's care and work he put into the story.

And with myself prepared for that again with this episode, I couldn't help myself from crying once again. Everything from the more realistic looking shots from human-Silky's perspective as she chased after her daughter, to the music and lack of other sounds when focusing on the two of them being together for what little time they had made this all live up to what expectations I had and far surpass them.

Bro the direction on this was absolute gold, it made the ghost's story so heavy and sad, was kinda a cliche at the end with her redemption but it was so well executed that this doesn't even matter.

Without a doubt, this was surely a roller coaster of emotions. Curious about this episode? Just look at the voting rating results, almost 5/5!

Their battle against Acrobatic Silky wasn't over yet. This time, Okarun unlocked yet another new skill, nice! If previously he just ran and kept running with Granny's power, now he is starting to be able to use it to attack opponents. With just one blow, he managed to knock Acro-Silky down.

Well, apparently, Aira died, apparently because she was swallowed by a yokai (Acro-Silky). However, with her hands still tied with cable ties, Momo tried to revive her by massaging her heart using her psychic powers. Seeing this, Okarun also helped by giving her artificial respiration. However, everything they did was fruitless.

The dying Acro-Silky offered to give her aura to Aira, because it was the only way for Aira to come back to life. Even though they rejected the offer several times, Momo and Okarun finally agreed and carried out the plan. How? Momo connected Aira's aura, which was now very dim, with her mother's aura, namely Acro-Silky.

As usual, like most anime, at certain times there will be flashbacks to the past. The same thing happens here, we are shown a piece of the tragic story of Aira's mother's life before her sad death. Due to very poor financial conditions, Aira's mother was forced to do various things to get money for her child, Aira. Including things that are actually inappropriate to do like selling herself, I think. Perhaps this is partly due to the absence of a father figure (basically a single mother) in their small family. Despite the economic crisis they experienced, Aira's mother gave everything for the happiness of her little one.

However, one day her house was visited by two people (seemingly debt collectors) who were trying to get money. Maybe because they had been in arrears for a long time, they started using violence. Aira's mother was severely injured in many parts of her body, while Aira was taken away by them. Seeing all this will definitely make you sad...

I didn't cry with any anime I've watched so far, sometimes it was close but the tears never fell. But this episode made me cry for the first time not just like a anime but like a show. The studio is cooking so hard, they grabbed a peak manga and made it even more peak.

Honestly, the person who directed this is a genius. The mix of the OST, the animation, movement and the VA, specially the little girl, my weak point is a kid crying, all that mix of peak made me cry for the first time with a show.
