Hope this is at least as cultured as Fairy Tail, although I highly doubt it will be

Is it just me or do Mashima’s protagonists differ only in hair color and clothes?

@RobertBobert No, I don’t think you’re wrong. I also realized that there’s usually a blonde girl in the cast.

@Gear707 I've only watched Eden Zero from his show at the moment, but I've heard people say that a lot of the characters in this anime are essentially FT characters with their hair color changed.

@RobertBobert Not really each one is different in terms of personality and goals and this is a standard character design practice used by toriama(rest in piece), rumiko takahashi, and many others to save on drawing time and brand recognition

I didn't know that Inorin earned a role in this. Was she already the voice for Chica from the game?

I might check this out once it airs, aside from discovering Inorin among the cast (which made me really happy). My expectations are currently low atm, but we'll see.

@yamiyugi101 Then what is the difference between its three protagonists? Also, I have no problem distinguishing Ranma from Inuyasha or the dude from Urusai Yatsura.

@LunyRem She voices the girl with blue hair on the left.

@RobertBobert I know, I've already seen the video before posting here. But Inorin was also the voice for Chica from the game, I assume? I've never played it, and I've only found out about this game today on this news.

@LunyRem I haven't played the game, but they usually always keep the cast from the game in adaptations.

I'd recognize those designs anywhere...

Could be decent, not a big fan of farming games though.

@RobertBobert Haru is a mature and more heroic character who is more focused on saving the world, natsu is a rough and tumble near criminal who only cares about his family and would fight anybody over it, and of course shiki is a naieve crybaby who longs for family and connections

@yamiyugi101 And all three are emotional hot-blooded guys with almost the same appearance who, with a group of outlaw friends, want to save the world/family? :)

@RobertBobert Not really natsu couldn't care less about the world and essentially works a freelance job, shiki is the type to choose a 3rd option, and haru would gladly sacrifice himself for the world they're all different in terms of personality and values and they barely look alike aside from hair style

@RobertBobert Maybe he reused the models in FT, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, as this can also apply to other mangaka (such as Adachi, Fujiko Fujio,...), not just Mashima. It depends on how much effort they put into making their designs and characterizations truly distinct from their previous work.

@yamiyugi101 I rather see it as one goal with different executions and maintaining the same character temperament.

@Gear707 Well, we can remember how many Ranma characters are essentially recycled UY characters.

@RobertBobert They don't have the same temperment though natsu is easily made angry he'd snap if he couldn't find the butter but his true rage comes from seeing people mistreat Guild members due to his childhood and beliefs , haru was level headed and mature for his age because he needed to take care of his sister and only grew angry on behalf of others or atrocities (the villains were impaling any villages who didn't join them due to the dark brings bringing out the worst of anyone who used them), while shiki valued all life whether it was human or machine and would truly be fueled by rage at anyone suffering

@Gear707 Mashima puts the majority of the focus on villain designs all 3 series has distinct villains

@yamiyugi101 Did you really not notice how you described that all three characters get angry easily, just for slightly different reasons? Seriously, take all three protagonists and show it to a person who is not an enthusiast of his work to know all the details.

@RobertBobert what no it takes a lot to get haru and shiki legitimately angry is what I said meanwhile natsu is always pissed off over petty shit which is part of his power too(flames of emotion a lost magic from the middle ages) shiki is happy go lucky and a crybaby, hard is mature and stubborn, and natsu is a yahoo that's literally it they're different in personality
