Hachiro's design reminds me of Demon Slayer, with a malicious personality. He uses Shura like a tool which is painful to see.

It seems Shura did accept her fate of early death but Rin isn't just going to let her die by "fate. I think Yukio may have found the answer to what he's fighting for.

Did you not hear her thoughts at the end? She can't find a purpose for her to live. Even if she's now "free"," she's always lived her life knowing she would die early and needs to become stronger. Yukio doesn't understand that so his words didn't affect her much. At the end, she felt sorry for Hachiro, and decided that it's best for her to die at his side than anything else.

Another quality episode. The snakes were scarier this time but I held up ok.

Does Yukio ever get tired of pretending to be the villain? I admit, with his current obsessions, I believed him when he said he would do anything for that power. The hurting Shura stuff not so much, but I'm interested in what Yukio will do when he finally becomes stronger Rin again like was before Rin reunlocked his powers again.

The fanservice in this story is weird. I get what they are going for, but who really believes the story would actually let a kid and adult consummate their relationship? Everyone knows that only happens when it's an older guy and a younger girl, like in the epilogue of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. Never forget.

@Vindicater It’s pretty understandable that someone who’s been caged mentally and physically their entire life might struggle to find a purpose when they finally gain freedom. That said, you’re entitled to your opinion. We know Rin won't let her die anyways.

@MFDOOMED The thing about Yukio is that he's admirable, despite his obsessions. He fulfills his duty at all times, and that's why I really love Yukio as a character. He's such a strong individual, but weak at the same time. He's grown strong to protect Rin, but he's always been jealous and felt inferior to Rin, because of what Rin has that Yukio doesn't. He's unaware that Rin feels the same way and their brotherly relationship is so complex and interesting to me. The inner conflict of him trying to accept Rin and himself, but falling slowly towards his demonic side to resolve his inner feelings is just heartbreaking. It's so incredibly relatable to though, with how he has such a low sense of his self-worth, but still does what needs to be done, having to deal with the pressure of his family (Rin) on him at all times. Even in this episode, he fulfilled his responsibilities, rather than let himself fall prey to his desires. I feel like too many people misunderstand him.

Pretty good episode. I feel so sad for Shura. I wonder if there was another way, but I guess we'll never know, or we will know more in the next episode. Feels bad this anime is not that popular. I used to watch the first two seasons when I was in highschool and too watch it again now with new season feels surreal.

Hachiro is insane. He is obsessed about that girl bearing him a child.

Shima and others must do something to cancel the curse. Anyway, I love the OP theme and the plot is pretty good.

@BlueMoonTornado That's a fascinating perspective. I see Yukio as foreplay. He keeps pretending he's going to be evil then the story will give him an out. I'm looking forward to when Yukio finally really admits his weakness and inferiority and lets Rin save him. But I'm assuming even the manga hasn't let that happen yet.

Tbh, I don't relate to doing your best despite your inferiority complexes. But I wouldn't be surprised if Yukio's struggles are big part of the reason he is so popular in Japan. He definitely holds up his part of the story well. I just wish the tease wouldn't last so long. Similar to another mega popular anime airing right now where a hero is deep undercover but only manga readers know when he's gonna reveal his true colors.

Yukio is cool.
Rin is such an asshole, falling for every trick people and demons play on him, he could've saved Shura but the dumbass had to fall for the eyes 2 times in a row lol
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~

@MFDOOMED It has already happened in the manga in a very different way. We're about 3 arcs away from that moment. A really satisfying climax between these two. Between that and this, there's also one of my absolute favourite arcs in this series as well that leads up to that moment. It completely retcons Season 1's original ending as well so I imagine a lot of people will be confused if they don't know about Season 1's original ending. There's quite a lot to the story as the arcs go on. It's just that manga releases have been extremely slow for a while, about 1 chapter every 3 months.

Hey, I wasn't expecting this acting masterclass from Yukio, he completely fooled us all haha. 😅

*Shura has already been freed from Hachirotaro's seal, they just need to free her heart, metaphorically speaking, because her mind refuses to believe that she is free, and that it is not okay for her to die just because.

I was scared I thought that Yukio would genuinely betray them after what we saw before, fortunately it wasn't and Rin could attack Hachiro/scam him so Shura's curse is removed but since Hachiro is immortal of course it doesn't end well... I just hope that Shura will not die with him in the lake :/

I must admit I'm somewhat disappointed in myself; each week, I keep delaying the writing of my impressions. Regardless, let us proceed without further delay.

Once again, I found this episode particularly captivating. Bearing in mind Voln’s previous mishap with 3D models—most notably the disastrous final battle of season 3—I approached the clash between our exorcists and Hashiro Taro’s serpent form with caution. Nevertheless, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the animation. Although not on par with season 2, it remains both enjoyable and refined.

As for the narrative, I’ll refrain from delving into it, as most points have already been discussed elsewhere. However, one element that struck me was the use of iconic music from the series, such as I-AM if memory serves me right. Combined with the exceptional voice acting, several scenes gain a renewed intensity, despite the slightly more static animation.

I will conclude by expressing my satisfaction in seeing the entire band animated, especially Hashiro, a memorable antagonist of his time. The opening also seems to hint at important moments to come. Let us hope that these upcoming scenes will prove to be as impactful and striking as other iconic moments from the past.

its fascinating to me how a show can have interesting ideas for character arcs but execute them so badly, the Shura arc literally feels like a recap
and they butchered the previous character arc with Izumo as well

I wouldn't doubt it if Yukio actually had a side like that when it came to his "hate" for Rin, and maybe even that "love" for Shura lmao.

Well Shura can still have Rin's kids, perfect solution. Yukio's plan was obvious, they did atleast try to make it look genuine but nah. Funny hypnosis moment with Rin and he keeps being such a nice guy.

@BlueMoonTornado People don't dislike Yukio cause they misunderstand him. The reason people dislike him is because he is an asshole to Rin 24/7. All to hide his inferiorty complex as he wants to think that he is the better one when deep inside he knows the truth. Also there's no pressure from Rin. Rin tries his best to be a good brother for him and deeply cares for him despite how Yukio treats him.

Yukio popular in Japan? Maybe that was true a decade ago but not now. The most recent popularity poll Yukio was at 4th. While Rin was at 2 and Angel came first.

@MegamiRem You would know better than me. I just want this anime to get animated well consistently. Blue Exorcist deserves better than what Shaman King and Orphen got.
