@GoblinLordKing Again you are wrong, Akira didnt make anything new in 2004, last thing we got from him was DBZ in the 90s, GT was all toei, and the newest Akira work since dbz was in 2013 with battle of gods that became Super. Daima isnt just Akira's name written on it, it was already confirmed he was heavy involved in the whole story, Worldview and character designs too. So this Will be fully canon unless something changes in the next episodes.

Well animated and fun with a fun new villain, having the similar plot idea of Dragonball GT but this time taking the adventure too the demon world Daima. Hoping its gonna be a fun and refreshing adventure without to many of Dragonball cliches.

rip akira toriyama thanks for this new dragon ball show

and this one can be viewed as standalone show so people that are newcomer to dragon ball can still watch it

so all pointed ears beings are from the demon realm then including the nameks

@deg seems a circus character, but more users thought the same to Majin Buu and he was a hard enemy!!! ;)

@Tarextherex It's not a retcon. They're undoing a retcon — just like with the Buu bad air thing. Piccolo and Kami were thought to both be demons back in the original Dragon Ball.

According to Daima, they're descendants of demons who somehow ended up in Namek. I vibe with it cause it explains everything we've seen so far. The version we're used to ("they're just aliens") contradicted what we knew from OG DB and the Saiyan Saga.

@MedK001 There is no distinction between DB and DBZ, it’s all from the same manga which is Dragon Ball

You may not like that twist but it wasn’t a retcon. Kami was never a demon, it was established that he wasn’t human and that he split in two to get rid of his evil because earthlings corrupted him. Later it’s revealed that he’s actually an alien but it doesn’t contradict anything from what was established in the Piccolo saga, it was just their choice of a backstory for him. They chose that, so basically the Piccolo + Kami was an alien from a race that is usually kind in nature, but was corrupted by the earthlings’ vice so he removed the evil part of him, which became Piccolo. This makes sense and doesn’t retcon anything. You may mention that Piccolo called himself the demon king or whatever but that’s irrelevant, the twist worked because there was nothing established in the Piccolo saga or the Saiyan saga that connects Piccolo to stuff like the afterlife, the demon realm or the Kais. That’s how you saw Kami saying that it “made sense” that he was an alien, that he always felt different

Now in Daima it’s revealed that Dende, an established character from the kind hearted Namek tribe is actually a demon because he has pointy ears. That’s just out of nowhere

With what he learned from this episode regarding the new separation method of potara earrings, how Demon realm is connected to the universe or outside, and how the older Namekian can manipulate the Dragon Balls, I am really curious how these things will be sorted out as this story is getting unfolded right before us.

@Kiwi_00s I'd rather say it's just another arc, just placed between Buu arc (DBZ) and Battle of Gods arc (DBS), but still before the End of Z part. It doesn't feel like a reboot, even a soft one, in the slightest, in my opinion.

I enjoyed the lush, creamy animation. The reanimated scenes from the Buu story arc looked fantastic with modern flare, and made me desire a manga-paced adaptation of Dragon Ball even more. Though the first third-half of the episode was a little dragged out with exposition and recapping, it offered a good set up and vibe taster for our new antagonistic characters, the new Demon King Gomah, and shin's siblings! (side note, namekians are demons again!!)

The demon realm looks like a genuinely cool world, and I can't wait to see it explored more. The art direction so far is fantastic! Plus points for the manga-accurate colouring.

Definitely one of Dragon Ball's better anime series starters, not too much meandering. Decent! look forward to more. Cheers Toriyama and staff!

I think I'm one of the few that liked the sayaman mini arc, where a main character is not just a muscle bro but also has a social life and has to balance the two.
I also liked videl in general as a character.

After 6 years of wait we finally got to see dragon ball... seeing goku and vegeta fight after so many years makes me cry,so much nostalgia hitting me right now plus all the glimpse of old dragon ball z reanimated also gave me goosebumps all and all fantasies first ep but if I am being honest and keep my nostalgia aside for a sec the stakes are not so high and the villain in this series is not a real thread but lest see what transpires in the next ep....

Expecting great writing and Sakuga animation in upcoming episodes since One Piece is on break/hiatus for 6 months.
New Characters like Dr Arinsu, King Gomah and Degesu are fun to watch and this will be mix of comedy/action

Woah!!! I'm so hyped and overwhelmed. I didn't expect it to be this amazing. The Majin Buu arc scene was also nostalgic but it wasn't boring to rewatch the scenes you already knew what happened. Gomah's character was fun to watch. I like how they also add comedy to it without exaggeration.

I look forward to the next episode.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

That felt like a lot of very unnecessary exposition to get things going. The whole episode should have been shortened to a few minutes so we can get to the actual interesting story. It felt like a reanimated clip show for the majority of it with very boring villians commenting. I hope the second episode is a lot better.

Say whatever you want about GT but at least there Pilaf had a good reason to turn Goku into a kid, Pilaf was better.

One thing I noticed, they told Dende he is a descendant of the Demon World because he has pointy ears... Mr Popo was literally standing next to him and he also has pointy ears, yet they completely ignored him, I call that RACISM!!!

I hope Gohan and Videl weren't on their university (or having sex LMAO) because they also must have been turned into kids lol

This series has a lot to develop and explain but what I saw is very promising. Saw this episode on the panel at New York's Comicon and it was exciting! I liked the references to GT. First, the most obvious, to Pilaf's action in GT and also the fact that the heroes are not wanted on the Demon's Realm kinda reminds me of when they were persecuted on Don Kee's planet. The strongest part about the episode were the visuals. Amazing coloring, especially the red of the Demon's realm, great shots, like the view on Dende's palace, and very good fighting sequences between Vegeta and Goku. The part about the hears and the parallels between the characters and dragon balls being present in both worlds, Earth and the Demon's realm, was not so clear so I hope they will go deeper in those but, overall, it was a really nice episode.

I was losing my shit watching every damn second, the animation was so fluid! The new characters seem fun, oh God I cant believe Im watching a new dragon ball anime that looks this bloody good!
There were rumors of this just being shy of 20 eps but I hope to God theres more! This is how I wanted modern DB to look, an actual upgrade and not the monstrosity we got in DBS in its early run.
The Opening is so catchy too! Everything about this anime feels like a dream.
Peak has arrived! And I am ready!

This seems to take place straight after Boo arc and before BoG, so we get no blue, red and white haircolor transformations which I am honestly a fan of.
I hope every fan just have fun with the series for a lot of reasons. Lets all just chill and enjoy the ride.

RIP Toriyama sensei, this being his last work and it looking this good just… makes me cry, thank you Toriyama sense and TOEI.

59/10.

that wish made no sense and was stupid. he dident want them going into the demon realm so what did he do? gave them a reason to come to demon realm. before they had no reason to look for it.

he could have asked to turn them into babies. he could have asked to take their powers. but no, he ask them to just be very 1th graders with the same power level. basically the same just smaller.

how turning people into kids against their own will is "white" magic but taking their powers is not? those are the royalty of the demon realm. they cant possibly be THAT stupid

the plot of this series makes 0 sense and i hate to pretend i dont hate the idea of turning characters to kids AGAIN. i hated that about GT. i hate it about this show as well. kid goku was cool where he was actually a kid. not anymore.

yeah the animation is great. but so what?
