A tragic ending to Mio's story where she ultimately chooses to sacrifice herself in order to be with Shin again, choosing Shin over Shido. Ein Sof's power was needed to nullify Westcott's Belial, but that saved the world for Shido and the remainder of the spirits who had all assembled to support Mio and Shido in the final fight vs Westcott. From the last segment, it seems that the story for the series is conclusive enough where all of the spirits have achieved happy lives post this incident and Shido ends on a date with Tohka. Season VI or another part does not seem likely, but as fans we can hope. |

Magnificent ending, excellent season, excellent anime, I loved it. Date A Live is truly my favorite anime forever!! I hope the last two volumes of the LN will be adapted one day so we can see the "true ending" in anime. I discovered DAL when I was around 15-16 years old (around 2014, just before the second season) and in a way, I grew up with it. I can also say that The series has helped me a lot during difficult times in my life, so for all of that, I want to say: Thank you, Shido, Thank you, Date A Live!!! |

Mio's death was very sad. She was supposedly called upon to destroy humanity, but in the end she sacrificed her life to save humanity. In the end, Mio proved that she was not evil. I mean, she did bad things, yes, but her nature itself is not evil. Rather, she is driven by emotions. Like Origami and Kurumi, she played the role of the antagonist for a while and then became a main character, but unfortunately this did not last long. |

@Laplace_kun yeah, tho the girl looks like Sawa and I just assume anime pulled a happy ending for everyone and thats Kurumi getting her friend back. |

im overall fine with what this episode did, i just wish they did it in more. in a word i would describe the episode as feeling kind of abrupt? i think the plot should have been fleshed out to wrap up in two more episodes, and then one epilogue episode that can explain stuff like the spirits past lifes, and their lifes going forward. not the screenshots we got |

@PersiaJuliet23 I refuse to believe this. After confirming the girls were all human to begin with, we should have some closure for each of them. The final volumes of the LN did this.. it would be extremely distasteful of the anime not to do this |

Date a Live V what a ride you were. The best this franchise has ever been and it's clear Geektoys reinvigorated the series at least among the western fanbase, a lot of hype in here for the franchise which is awesome! A thanks to Geek Toys too. They took in this anime and did the best to it. Geek toys really did wonders on its last Anime. |

S5 EP 12 Its ep 12 Last episode. Last time, we had some shenanigans and cliffhanger ending. when the villains are actually competent. The funny thing is dem kinda went down quite easily (relatively), in the previous timeline, but this time they are waay more stubborn. i mean elliot isnt here to help and what not. Its too bad we didnt get to see mio vs ellen yet. or anything really. but maybe there's still a chance it might happen this ep In other news i wonder if we'll get another vn soo we're back to talking with mio shido intensifies the funny thing is that mio is a bit different. tohka is one thing but aside from her all the other girls were human once, while mio and tohka is like huh a part of me wonders how mio and reine is going to be handled. like separate or together? origami also had a similar thing where she had two different personalities because of the timeline split, and they merged together. not sure though, might have been more in the novel since her other personality hasnt shown up at all in s5 and the other tohka is a weird case, since she showed up in s2 briefly and in s4 briefly and s5 briefly shinji and shido is kinda curious. since the whole thing is that shinji is already dead speaking of, i think there has been almost no deaths in the whole story. kurumi killed a few people, i think. and i believe in s2 there was a certain someone who died while fighting mana, but aside from that i dont think anyone has actually died in s3 or 4, or permanently in s5 anyway. heck even westcott is alive for now, but for how much longer i dunno. they've kinda established that he's basically corrupt and no saving for him a part of me still wonders what mio has been doing for the past few years and of course they get interrupted so basically westcott has been planning some kind of stunt its still pretty confusing though anyway at the very least after some calm talking i guess mio is resolved. Rambling about previous seasons its kinda weird because if you think about what happened tohka was like kinda typical yoshino was also typical for the most part then kurumi was the strange case kotori was like uhh kaguya, yuzuru miku was the first one that dragged out natsumi was interesting since it was slightly different then the whole origami thing wasa probably the most involved, since uhh. in theory i guess, but way more convoluted and messy nia was fairly short then mukuro was kinda curious, since they inverted most of the events while kurumi uhhhh something tohka - tohka shows up, then she goes back she shows up again, talks to shido then she shows up again, talks to shido. shido gets shot by origami and tohka goes rage mode yoshino - yoshino shows up, but they get interrupted by tohka yoshino shows up again, talks to shido then yoshino shows up again, gets chased by ast, and then i think tohka distracts ast kurumi kinda isnt relevant, they have a lot of talking. ast actually doesnt show up for once, since its kotori who shows up kotori -basically a lot of talking, then they get jumped by origami kaguya and yuzuru, they show up, talk with shido, and then its like sorta over. miku - miku shows up. and then there's a loong convoluted sequence of events. tohka gets kidnapped, and then. in hindsight it makes sense nia - nia talking, then she goes inverse. mukuro - shido talks with mukuro for awhile. then later there's a big battle and they "rescue" mukuro but then mukuro kinda uhhhhhhh uhhhhhh something definitely not because i forgor or anything and then kurumi is just idk who would have though trying to summarize the events of 40-60 eps is hard tohka - 3 eps yoshino - 2 eps kurumi - 3 eps kotori - 3 eps kaguya and yuzuru - 3 eps miku - 6 eps natsumi - 5 eps origami - 6 eps nia - 3 eps mukuro - 6 eps (but she doesnt even show up for like one of them) s1 is 11 eps, s2 is 9 eps, s3 is 11 eps, s4 is 9 then the remaining eps is 16 Part 2: its actually surprising how similar yet different it is. i guess. the main thing is how after mukuro its uhm. its been 16 eps meanwhile all the girls, like really imagine if they were all talking at the same time it would be impossible to hear or discern so uhh yeah i dunno, westcott pulling out some dem stuff as usual just as we got mio on our side now we have to deal with this its still kinda strange though like we've seen the dark side is stronger for some reason but dunno if it was ever explained how or why fitting everyone into one image is soo hard i was thinking that the whole thing with shido is kinda weird remember back in the itsuka disaster section, where, shido didnt even have all the spirits yet, but he was like going super. hmm. though it was mentioned that he couldnt actually control himself and i dunno if they actually tried (in a previous timeline dem managed to kil shido, multiple times offscreen in fact) this is also the first time we have kurumi actually helping us in a team. and nia too, though nia has never really gotten to do anything since her power was taken pretty much immediately not entirely sure. mukuro too, we know her powers are pretty insane i mean at this point westcott is literally just copying mio's powers but its dark i never finished the vn but its really funny how uhm. so nia is able to use her powers to uh. and here is maria definitely not something i was expecting. now if only the others would show up as well, there's uhh. darn its been too long i dont remember. oh yeah, rinne (voiced by hanazawa kana, cameo from mio in s3), then rio, and ren i think and it basically boils down to shido punching westcott in the face but yeah no way it would be so easy like just how many one more dems can westcott pull out anyway very black and white imagery and one more scene with westcott again. this is like the 3rd one? i guess to give him time to talk with elliot one last time face to face its too bad that elliot didnt really get to do anything in this timeline. while ellen was a strange thing im actually not sure if westcott said the same thing when he died in the previous timeline too. though his death there was a bit different Wait they're playing the op instead of the ed. so they played the op twice Ending felt a bit flat though Like for this ep itself. i mean uhm. we resolved the whole mio thing, and then we fight westcott one last time in a really weird sequence, and then mio leaves at the very end. we hardly knew thee. So after five seasons uhm. is this the end? Endings were always difficult I know iwas just talking about how same yet different, but s5 (and the kurumi arc 4 eps of s4) definitely felt really different from the rest of the anime Like I'm not sure if its intentional (since my understanding is that 1-4, 5-8, and 9-12 were each a novel, so the pacing works differently), but it felt like they were deliberately trying to cliffhang and/or space out the events. Even in this ep or the previous one or two we had westcott pulling things out I'm kinda sad that in neither timeline we didnt have a final showdown with ellen, after all this time, but nope, she just lost offscreen to elliot. So first, talking about this season itself. we had 3 eps, and then ep 4 was mio's flashback episode. Ep 5678 was basically everyone dying, by the time ep 8 started it was literally only shido and mio, with tohka and kurumi showing up awhile. Then after that we had our last 4 eps and uhm Im honestly not even sure what to say For the series as a whole my thoughts have been about the same. s1 was fairly straightforward with its ups and down. s2 was the shortest and the series getting darker s3, we had the natsumi eps and then the whole origami stuff s4, nia and mukuro aaand now s5 im not even sure what to say Fundamentally the issue is that as you can tell the girls, even with aaall these episodes. like they barely managed to fit them into this ep. TLDR: Weird final episode, weird season. Even the whole anime is weird I guess |

So they wrap the story in this season? no season 6? because there's still 3 volume of light novel left and the story supposed to end with Tohka took Mio's sephira and become the new Deus in that case it's real shame because last 3 volume packed with awesome stuff such as the backstory of spirit when they were humans, the true yamai, spirit battle royal, the beast, Eleedn redeemed herself and of course my favorite : Adult Kurumi |

Honestly idk what I was tripping on at the beginning of the season when I said I preferred the first 3 over this one. (Although I still prefer the first 3 over season 4) But dam was I wrong, this season is way better than the first 4. Idk why I cited at Ike dying but idk I think I was still feeling emotional from Mio’s death. Everyone went back to their usual lives. Even Kurumi can live a normal life now. I’m like 70% certain this isn’t the end of date a live and there’s like enough content for a movie I think. But hey I could be wrong. This might actually be the end. If so then it’s a more or less perfect ending. But I’m pretty sure based of what I’ve heard this isn’t the end Great season 9/10 Second best harem show behind trinity seven for me |

Shido trying to steal Mio, shoujo face included, was hilarious. Shido and the spirits vs Ike was pretty awesome. I loved it, it was quite an epic final battle. Maria getting her own body was unexpected, she was really enjoying it xD. I loved the Pokemon reference with Nia haha. Finally, Ike is dead! He won't get any sympathy from me but at least his friends will mourn his death. Shame that in the end Shido couldn't seal Mio but she did horrible things to bring back Shin so I think it's fitting that she sacrificed herself to save them. That teddy bear... Reine :'( . The piano rendition of the first OP was right to the heart, that was dirty. Shido's cry was quite powerful, damn. That Kurumi smile at the end <3..... but isn't that her best friend? What? And that's it for this season (maybe even the series). The main conflict was wrapped up pretty well but I don't know if that little epilogue would leave me satisfied as an ending. There are like 3 more volumes but with the big bad out I wonder, what's next? More harem shenaningans? That would be nice ngl hahaha. One of the things I liked about this series is that it is really a harem. Anyway, just in case. This is definitely one of the best harem series, while I liked it the most when it was about silly dates and harem shenaningans, it was also great to see the story slowly unfold until it reached its climax. I'm going to miss it. |

What a great end to this last season! Even Shido tried his best to get Mio to fall for her, but she dumped him. Maybe this has something to do with Mio being her son, and also with Shido being such a playboy, even his own mother. Anyway, Mio is finally happy because she reunited with Shin in the end. Also, the end credits make it feel like there’s a movie or sequel, but we will see, but if there isn't, we can always read the manga. |

Although I want a full-fledged harem ending, I can just assume that it's just Tohka's turn to have some fun after a long time of not going on a date with Shido while others just waiting for their turn by doing something else. Can't believe that this anime practically ends here, It has been a wild ride since Season 1 (though they minimized the fan service). Let us all meet again on another similar anime. Shido and the girls have earned their rest. |

Oh the problems with adapting Light Novels. I haven't even read the books but even I can tell there are details missing. Honestly I love DAL, I enjoyed all the seasons and genuinely like the series. But this ending feels unsatisfying. I know that there are a few volumes left unadapted (and it might stay that way since apparently the investors for the past few adaptations went bankrupt) so maybe I'll try reading the books to get a good conclusion. Other than that, I enjoyed this season. Nothing too extraordinary but it still had the DAL feeling. But I do prefer the first few seasons of DAL, it felt a lot simpler and fun. Lots of goofy moments and a laid back atmosphere. Not saying I don't enjoy this climax but I do prefer that DAL in comparison to the past 2 seasons. |

Was skeptical about wrapping everything up in one episode, but this had it all! At least that gave us a chance to see all the girls fighting together for the first time this season, even Nia back in the fight! Wish it wasn’t all cgi but oh well. Mio’s sacrifice broke me man, but at the same time it’s thematically consistent. Mio started the episode by saying “Perhaps I truly did want to die this whole time” it’s no way she could ever let go of shin, so it’s fitting she saves Shido’s world and gets her reunion with her first love finally. “You finally got to see Shin” 😭not a dry eye in the show or watching. looks like Mio died and met the real Shin in the afterlife. I guess it's sort of a happy ending for her. She found the man she really love by dying. If she lived, she would have to settle for Shidou and have to "share" him with so many other girls. Westcott durability is amazing. He outlived Mio for approx a minute more. Well, he lived long enough to be found by Ellen at the beach, and also be visited by Kirei Kotomine (I mean Ellliot, lol) and Karen. The question is what was that he referring to "so easy to obtain"? Even a villain has friends too. I guess he died a happy man surrounded by people who cared about him. had a good laugh at the Pokemon reference that Nia did. But Maria (Pikachu) is not yet loyal, so Nia got a thunder shock. xD nice to see Kurumi school uniform version again! Still remember arguing with the seller of the cosplay uniform who wanted us to buy everything including the shoes. My cosplayer friend Mich already has shoes. So I was insisting we only gonna buy the uniform. After some calm talking, we got what we wanted. Good memories. Anyway, glad to see Kurumi having fun with her cats! ^^ not much more to say. Mio is dead. Westcott is dead. Kurumi no longer hostile. Emotional problem of all the girls is now settled. It's a pleasant 10 years following this series. Thank you Tohka and everyone, it was fun following your anime - may you have fun on your date. ^___^ |

Great finale just the kind of ending I'd expect mio had a change of heart and sacrificed herself to save the world well at least she got to be with the one she loved in the end leaving nothing but her sephira crystal behind and Reine's bear. I honestly don't think theirs enough content for another season so it'll probably end with a movie, unless they somehow manage to crank out enough content to fill another season it could happen but idk guess we'll just have to see what happens. |

Of course here come this loser Westcott ruining a great moment with yet another diabolical magic experiment gone wrong. Just beautiful, man. That ending looked conclusive, but there’s still more to the story so I’m not sure. Honestly feels so good I almost want it left there because I’m not sure if the actual ending will be as good lol. Date a Live is kind of the last of a dying breed of that early 2000s/2010s urban fantasy genre. Strike the blood, Mahouka, Toaru, etc. :/ fun ride tho he did end u with touhka in the light novel.... so he ended up with her in the anime too right?? Dude why the fuck would you spoil that I haven’t read it what the fuck o sorry man I really didn't know..... she did end up with him in the anime so I thought you know about light novel too 😅, my apologies.... |

Peak episode of DAL till date. Everything was perfect, action was smooth, soundtracks and effects were heavenly in headphones. Just fantastic and that bittersweet ending + nostalgic vibes just made me love this series even more. Perfect point to end the series bit author decided to write 3 more volumes after this lol. 9/10 for S5 |
