I have a bit of a fixation on the more primitive sounding bands, with murky production values, heavy distortion, with shrill or raspy vocals. To me, it's just the perfect sound. |

@Darklordbambi Legit curious here. Why do you put Alice In Chains in the prog category? It's the first time I've ever seen them called prog but I can vaguely see the argument too.
| @Frumptastic Just scratches the same itches Mastodon and Queens of the Stone Age do for me. I'm bad at categorizing sounds sometimes. Their new stuff especially scratches that itch, while their earlier stuff tends to be a tad grungier. |

| When it comes to - not songs, but music, anything from Shiro Sagisu. Whether it's his work from Evangelion, Bleach, or others, Shiro Sagisu always expresses this deep and harsh emotion in his works. Just looking at Evangelion alone, he has so many examples of music that just ooze the emotion of "anxiety". Borderline Case, A Fragile Ego Border, Honeymoon With Anxiety, mirror mirror, Separation Anxiety, and born evil to name just a few. Even when he collabs with singers, such as constructing Komm Susser Tod or Everything You've Ever Dreamed, his music is linked to the soul, the psyche, feelings. It's harsh - it shows, and that's why he's one of my favorites in music in the modern generation. I don't think many can compare to his taste when it comes to almost, quite literally, ripping expression and feeling from somebody's mind and expressing it through music alone. |
