| Everyone’s here for Initial D successor and all that jazz, but like Shiba, I’m here for Ren. God she’s gorgeous. I think this’ll probably be the better “anime” compared to Overtake! In terms of story, fanservice, general “fun” But I think Overtake! Is a better racing anime and teaches you more about the actual art of racing. This is more of a general entertainment show. I also didn’t watch initial D growing up so I don’t have that nostalgia connected to the show. That 90s style anime OST during Kanata’s race start was great though. Definitely took me back to my childhood. I’m glad we got both of these shows airing in the same season. There’s a racing show for those who want to learn the ins and outs, and for those who want a waifu and a more traditional story. |

| after reading all previous comments, i am seriously starting to doubt my aesthetics. i am the only one who seem to be bothered by the character designs and the weird effect lines drawn on speeding cars. did the author really mean to have the young guys drawn with what seems to be pink lipstick? and the mechanic guy reminds me of the distorted meme face. well, i know nothing about cars, and i am not into romance at the moment so i am not sure how long i can endure. lol. i guess this is indeed different from initial d in some ways. i was able to watch all initial d some years ago. |

| Introducing Kanata, he's pretty much like Takumi in his youth going up against other opponents. I like the fact that his Toyota 86 GT is pretty much a parallel to Takumi's Toyota 86, with the announcers constantly calling it the "Eight-Six" and the fact that it has "lack of power". And the Eurobeat is back! This is amazing for a first episode for this Initial D sequel wich can also stand on its own. XD Not to mention the animation is really good. Also, I like the fact that Kanta speaks english considering he's also part-english. |
| I like the concept of the electric cars and this new Brit has a similar vibe to Takumi. They're both laid back and a bit naïve, but Takumi was oblivious to his own skills. This kid seems like he knows that he's about to kill it, he's just not a social butterfly. |

I never watche Initial D before, just know the "Dejavu meme" and well, look like I'll can watch with no problems, right?
I liked this first ep but I wanna see the racer. Maybe is the first race anime I watch since Speed Racer D:

| @Wakashimazu Yeah even if MF Ghost is a sequel to Initial D, you can still watch it without seeing Initial D. Only thing you're gonna be missing out is when Characters from Intial D appears. |

| Very promising start. Although, it'll be hard to top the legendary Initial D. Ayo, hearing Takumi Fujiwara's voice by the end, announcing the next episode, was an epic experience. |

| i always find it funny the way anime like to portray future. i don't know why it never looks anywhere near what reality's moving towards. but anyway, i never watched initial d, so i don't know about this making it justice but for a first episode, it was okay. kanata to me was a bit too unexciting and the girl... oh, men-written women (a high school girl, what a surprise) are never really my cup of tea anyway. i'm just loving all the hype for the eurobeat because that and tofu are the first things i think about when thinking about initial d. oh, and i keep reading the name as motherfucking ghost. what the fuck is my problem? |

| Interesting start, watched the whole Initial D franchise a few years ago so I'm excited for this one, another driving prodigy I guess but this time we have a half english japanese guy, looking forward to seeing him drive next |

| Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking GHOST on my motherfucking PLAN-TO-WATCH-LIST!!! Time to watch some motherfuckin' ghost. I'm down to watch some racing anime, they're so few modern motorsports anime that involves conventional cars around, this will be good. This is a solid first ep, being in the same universe as Initial D, I have no doubt that we'll be seeing some old characters. Now regarding the new characters, I'd give up a lot of things to be in Kanata's shoes. (Aside from the fact that his father went out to buy milk and never returned) He's living that NEED-FOR-SPEED-esque life right now where he landed in a foreign land, got himself hooked with a mechanic, a car, and a clear competitive racing goal as well as a local home that will host him. Think about it, a new life, new experiences with new people, new sights and new places to see and of course... Driving a sports car in a world where EVs have consumed everything. Absolutely fantastic. Amusing how Ren denied love at first sight until she fell in love at first sight. Not only is Kanata handsome to her, he's also polite and earnest. Yeah don't bother resisting, there's a reason why you work as an 'Angel' in MFG, you're there to cheer Kanata on. |

| this has a lot to live up to. and personally i prefer the older cars that we saw in initial d. of course the mc's car is number 86. i do not like kanata. i just cant stand it when anime has foreign characters, well that by itself is fine but when they make the va speak english my ears hurt. if they really want a (serious) character to speak english couldnt they get a va who is good at english pronounciation? weirdy enough i only have that problem with anime. in real life hearing japanese speak english is not a problem at all.  |
