Just had a binge re-watch of this series after listening to the Voices of the Chord song and damn I'm so happy I did. This is the first time in a long while that I've binged a series all at once.

The two scenes that Lena and Shin met had me in tears. Basically re-watched the series just to see these scenes again and they're beautiful.

I'm sooooo tempted to go straight to volume 4 of the light novel to continue it but I know I'll miss stuff that was probably missed out of the anime if I do. (Well volume 2 & 3 seem to be a nightmare to get my hands on)

I guess that the last moments were okey, the start of the episode was a complete garbage as well as the mid part, the only good thing was the last minutes scenes.

Anyway, since this is the last episode, I will now proceed to write here what I think about this anime (taking into account season1).

Completely dog shit story and characters with a few exceptions, the order of the shots and what type of shot was also garbage through the whole season, and the worst of all was how and when the music was used, they were changing music nonstop in scenes that shouldn't have had that music, really cutting the immersion of the anime tbh. Almost forgot to post this: STOP SKIPPING TIME AND PUTTING A RANDOM DATE THAT NO ONE IS GOING TO FOLLOW UNLESS THEY PAUSE THE ANIME SOMEHOW.

The original premise of the story isn't bad, but how it is handled? Absolutely bad. I carry this opinion from the first season, what's the point in killing people if it doesn't have an impact on the story, characters nor the spectators? Exactly, there's no point. We learn that the general's country has been attacked by the Legion and that they lost in a week, Ok, what happened?, because from 2 characters we know that live there, their personality or views have changed nothing, the people of the city seem also unbothered by all the killing and destruction apart from 4 NPCs that still hate the people that has saved them, and the city is being rebuilt!, it's like nothing happened in the first place, incredible!

And how is it possible that the policy of the Republic is that they follow human rights, but they also know what this other country is doing with KIDS that have different hair color and doing nothing to stop them? Seems very human rights friendly, yes.

The whole shit with the powers of the kickable annoying kid and the shinigami that has to be reminded every episode that there's people that care about him was so bullshit, oh my god, we had like 8 conversations between them that led to nothing, literally nothing, since they repeated the same things over and over. And the Kiri bullshit, "I don't want him to die", he is already dead, and you should too.

Now again, with the thing I don't understand the killing off characters, what's the point that these 4 sidekicks that aren't Shin in making them survive? They have added nothing to the story, like literally maybe Raiden is the only one that did something, the other 3 were fillers.

Overall a bad story, good character designs that 96% of them get wasted or killed for literally no purpose, a lot of skipping time without telling so, and the main lead this time is terrible even for his own problems. 3/10 because the images they used were pretty, and the color palette was good too, the only good scenes this season were when they met, and the Eugene's grave scene, stop counting.

Nice. not as good as the mean score implies but not as bad as I imagined it to be. the absence of Lena in the second cour is a positive.

6/10 overall for cour 1+2

Thank god for that ending, after the first cour I was expecting they were going to kill some/ or all of the main cast but man I was gladly wrong. Thank god for not killing any of them and for that meeting at the end. Absolutely loved it and was bawling my eyes out just like Kurena did xD

Tear jerker! It's sad that the last couple of episodes were delayed, but the wait was worth it and I was glad I was able to follow through with the series.

Whew! After the last episode I was getting a little concerned that we might have to wait for next season for the big reunion. Talk about waiting for the last minute! Overall I'm happy with the series. The timeline got a little confusing for me in a few episodes, but generally resolved itself by the end. The strength of this anime is in the characters, in my opinion. I also enjoyed the battle sequences, in part because the mechs were so cool looking.

Oh my days, PEACE HAS BEEN RESTORED, I AM COMPLETE OMG THEY MET FACE TO FACE. NO HANDS SHALL BE THROWN ANYMORE!! Seeing how far they've come and changed since season 1 is so nice. Plus the art's absolutely gorgeous.
At the end did they hold hands or smt, either way I SHIP, THEY'RE SO CUTE TOGETHER. SHIN AND LENA ALL THE WAY.
Bro Theo's drawings were hilarious. The amount of stuff this series have put me through should be illegal, ngl probably one of the best anime endings I've seen. Not the best but definitely one of the best!

What the F did I just watch?! I almost cried like a little girl and I'm a 36yo Dad.
Hopefully there are more seasons to come.
I just want to see the most unique story of how these antagonist zombie tanks will get absolutely destroyed and how these characters will develop (or die?).
I think I'm expecting the unexpected like never-before-seen stories / ideas - based on how these 2 parts went! Gimme more!

Thanks A-1, what a beautiful ending
this cour suffered due to Lina absence, I still like the first cour better because it was full of characters and bonds
unlike this one which mainly focused on the Legion fights and the loli but I am glad we regained some of that in the finale

A great anime to watch with tons of symbolism and a stealthy depiction of the story which are easy to miss. Beautifully animated and the music adds so much feeling to the anime. Voice acting great giving life to characters. Add all that and you come out crying.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn1f0zKh7O8

watch this video from this guy to understand the stealthy symbolism presented by the animation team. It will make you appreciate the anime more than you think.
seriously this guy made a 3 part video series explaining allllll the subtle details by the 86 staff. i got to know sooo much more things i missed while watching it.

I couldn’t stop laughing when Ernst is wearing a rain-deer hat but at least he got some fashion 😎 and this episode reminds me of the 2nd episode where it’s enjoyable full SOL arc for each of them but this one is a lot more memorable ;c

Shin visiting Eugene’s grave must be something hard and damn I know that white flowers Shin gave to his grave, symbolising undying love(?) (as in like best friends obv and I do kind of recall this scene similar in one of a episode from a different series where a guy gave a white flower to his one beloved person) 😭 and from all the aftermath, just gotta move forward and keep on fighting Shin the undertaker!

Yess, they also showed Lena’s perspective and she visits her father’s grave, not gonna lie her surrounding looks very hectic but that’s the effect from the battlefield after all, and anyways it’s nice to see she’s more livelier in her own town. Nice that they inserted the OP in the 2nd half, I love the camera type of style direction that they used once again, it's always interesting to detail using those every now and then, Juggernaut I mean fucking Fido is the best character we all need for that camera movement <3 Also there was a nice OST, Idk who is singing it but it's a very calm one! and FINALLY, A FACE TO FACE, YES, THAT'S ALL I NEED, I MAY NOW REST IN PEACE

After all the tragedy and war,  just like that, the 2nd cour for the 1st season is over.. can’t live without 86.. 10/10 episode!

I watched the last scene of ep 12 more than 20 times its sooo satisfying and everytime i come out crying.................. T^T

There's no better way to end an anime series
Definition of perfect.

We all know the story is going to end something like this, but what shines from this adaptation lies in the execution/ detail/ buildup/ music/ animation combined.
The meeting could be as dry / tasteless as possible if the studio does not put care into this scene.
It's as expected, A1 studio understands perfectly how to make a scene memorable, proven in previous episodes again and again from earlier episodes.
This episode doesn't has any conflict/ twist /combat or anything yet it leaves a strong expression to everyone who watched the full series through and through.

Tbh if the studio who's in charge of Summer Time Rendering has director as good as 86's director, they could have make the final episode reunion much more impactful/ memorable and transcend the series to greater height.
Ironically FGO Babylonia's from Cloverwork, a division of A1 does not come close when it comes to all the key emotional scene. It has great combat scene an great artwork , but that's probably all it has.

With how many times they replayed "I'll never forget", she ends up forgetting what they looked like. Sure the photos were pretty old but I was kind of hoping to see some sign of recognition.
