In spite of how diverse and expansive Bleach's side cast is, every character is still given a purpose and role that contributes to their development and/or the narrative even if it's meek compared to the protagonists, such as Isane and Nanao. This isn't Kishimoto we're talking about, who wrote the worst side cast in the history of shounen e.g. TenTen who was utterly worthless in the 4GNW. |

| Very happy to see again Rukia and Renji ^^ Renji finish the battle very fast with his real bankai (full name bankai i should say) Kensei and Rose defeated, but like the manga they didn't use hollow transformation who could be like poison on the quincy... why not maybe they have forgotten have it after their return on captains role lol |

Why is Renji sweeping "awful writing" when he just came fresh out of Royal Palace training with Squad Zero with full realization of his power, making him a Captain level+ Shinigami at this point? And on top of that, why is this newly boosted supporting character who had a history of jobbing finally being of formidable use "awful writing"? I'm surprised you even have to ask. The dude got a Bankai upgrade based on a ridiculous contrivance like "you didn't know Zabimaru's real Bankai name", which was stupid 10 years ago in the manga and is still stupid now. It's like when Yammy revealed that he was Espada 0 when we had previously been told that the Espada were ranked from 1 to 10. Both come across as just bullshit retconning. Moreover, in usual Bleach fashion, Renji's Bankai was coincidentally one of the few that could've beaten Mask since it literally broke him down into ashes and made it impossible for him to regenerate. Few abilities would've been able to do that, but Kubo loves fights like this where the good guys just happen to have the exact counter necessary to beat their enemies even if said counter is asinine and never comes into play again. |
| probably the most boring episode from both cours so far ngl, don't like or care about the wrestler dude at all. renji's entrance was kinda cool though and his true bankai reveal was very cool. kansei got taken out and the other dude transcended donuts and became a star, if you catch my drift. his bankai was so and so though. kensei saying 'bankai' reminded me of gintoki parodying it lmao. |

| Otoriboshi's Bankai was actually really visually impressive here, I think the CGI effect actually worked really well Of course it didn't really end up doing much The great Renji and Rukia return, yippee! An okay episode, I'm looking forward to Renji and Rukia's further actions later onward |
| I never really cared about Kensei and Rose since they didn't have much development, but it was neat to see them show off even though they ended up getting thrashed anyway. Also, I guess they can't use their Hollow powers now for some reason, which is unfortunate given the Quincies should be weak to it. It's nice to see Renji back in action after so long, and outmatching Superstar easily with his true Bankai, So-Oh Zabimaru. He's definitely Captain level at this point, so hopefully Rukia will have her time to shine next. |

Mask can only regenerate if James is alive (and he says James or himself will eventually revive as long as the other's around). Renji was able to permanently kill him because James hadn't revived yet, not because he could turn him to ash. |

| Now Rose, what have we learned from this fight? That's right: don't tell your opponent how your ability works, and he won't be able to come up with countermeasures nearly as easily (or at all, hopefully). |

| This episode slaps and is the best of the season so far. Love seeing Kensei get jobbed, Kensei sucks. Rose's bankai is sick af and looks great in the anime. it's too bad he's an idiot. Renji's bankai is boring. I actually prefer his previous bankai. Regardless, episode is still great. Hoping next episode gets the same treatment. As Nodt vs Rukia is one of the best fights in the arc imo. |

That OST is pure nostalgia. 14:00 - Lmao, Renji has no chill, he just immediately decapitates James without a second thought. Byakuya has taught him well. How the hell did this episode go so hard?! When I first read this fight in the manga, I thought it was one of the most boring fights in TYBW, but the anime adaptation unironically managed to make this the best episode of the season so far. And I'm not just talking about the animation, all the other pieces fell perfectly in place as well; the direction, the pacing, the choice of OST, everything was on point. RIP Superstar ⭐ 5/5 |
