This was beautiful! In animation and art-wise! And an Intriguing post-apocalyptic world. It looks like I'll be sticking around.

Wow. I read the first chapter from the manga a few months ago and I was pretty confused. I didn't drop it but I just forgot to keep reading. Episode 1 from the anime was very interesting, I was on the edge of my seat and it wasn't confusing at all. Nice adaptation.

Great 1st episode to get you interested. As many have said already, it reminds me a bit of Promised Neverland. More than shonen, but not quite seinen.

good amount of misterys, setting up episode for the worldbuilding, cool animation and flow, the main duo characters seems to work well for the overall drama looking foward for the show

A very strong first episode, probably the best anime premiere I've seen so far in this calendar year. There's potential with a lot of elements in this series, hopefully the quality can be maintained from an adaptation and production standpoint that this first episode managed to execute. Lots of interest in the chemistry between Kiruko and Maru, and the overall world.

Okay so there is a lot to cover for a first episode. Overall, seems interesting, and the animation was really good.

So for the most part of the episode I was trying to decide if this is like Darling in the Franxx or The Promised Neverland type of anime - especially the place called Heaven/Tomato Heaven resembled those anime. But since the Director did reveal the truth (monsters) I guess its more for safety.

That woman (inn owner) seemed really sketchy about the monster bird and gun topic. I have a feeling that she drugged the kids and the monster bir either is her son or the monster ate her son or something.

During the kitchen scene she continued to hold the knife even when the kids said that they could kill the monster. Any sane person concerned for their safety would relax to hear that but she didn’t. Therefore it felt like the monster is her son (since they showed his photo and his toys) and she feeds the monster with the guests that comes into the inn - hence why it was very cheap.

Or I might be totally wrong and feel for these signs that I have misunderstood.

Also the girl saying that the boy is just an object for her to protect while the boy literally calls her Sis was kinda sad.

I totally agree with your theory, I'm very suspicious of that woman. Throughout the episode she gave me a creepy vibe for the reasons you mentioned

This is quite a strange one yet an interesting one to check out! It definitely has the inspiration of “The Last Of Us” with the monsters, everything gone to heck for decades and main characters trying to survive a apocalyptic world!

The concept of the anime reminded me of "darling in the franxx" anime.

The episode shows tandem narrative as two character are outside the wall and some are inside the wall.

Overall the plot has the potential to be thrilling action anime if carried out properly. as I have not read manga so don't know how the plot goes. but looking forward it

The animation is good quality and although a bit goofy sounding at times the soundtrack sounds nice. Good ED song. Looks like it's going to be good.

Absolutely steller from start to finish. The animation and character acting is impeccable and theres so much energy with each frame. The atmosphere, the direction, the setting, and the characters are so unbelieavably good and gives off so much intriuge. I have really high hopes for this but I won't have my expectations too high incase this flops.

This is the anime I'm looking forward to the most of this season.

That was a good introduction episode.

It's the typical ”wall” and “outside world” plot but I'm curious about what uniqueness will this anime present.

I started this anime knowing nothing besides what an edit from the trailer, that was comparing it to The Promised Neverland, told me, and honestly, I'M SO HAPPY I DECIDED TO WATCH IT!!! It's pretty different from what i expected, but it's definetly worth the watch, for a 1st episode, and an introduction to the world, it was really sick (in a good way)

I liked this pilot. The characters are fantastic, and I'm intrigued to see how the two plots intersect. While I'm currently more interested in the Kiruko and Maru plot, the story with the school and the robots has piqued my interest; I don't know what to make of it and it's implications yet.

This premiere of this one might as well be a short movie. Looks so damn gorgeous and also somewhat disgusting, like some of the monsters in Made in Abyss.

So from what I can gather, this Collapse thing has lasted less than a generation, them hideous monsters have made the world a living hell with there being a certain safe haven called "Heaven"(couldn't have guessed it at all) and another one where they are housing children for god knows what. I thought Maru and his bodyguard might be from that facility but it seems unlikely given the scars on her body(that was pretty bold). Also, Maru absolutely has a crush on Kiruko.

My favourite non-serious part of the episode has to be how Kiruko held the punks at gunpoint with an empty gun(most likely made by her).

I liked this a lot, except for the little boy beating all the adult attackers, as well as the girl acting so confident when she was close to getting raped. I hope there's a good explanation for the boy's fighting skills later on.

Other than that, great first episode, great animation. Might be anime of the season.

I personally would have preferred that the girl stood up to the characters (since they are building a strong female character) instead of trying to escape, and that the guy had the gun (since he is the one complaining that it has few bullets it would have been more coherent that he was holding it imo) and that the girl fights them and the boy saves her with the bullet left. That would make it more clear that even though the girl is the strong lead that they still depend on each other and would be a balance to the confidence of the girl and the dependence of the boy.

Instead they made the girl pretend that she’s escaping with the gun (she should have handed the gun to the little boy once she saw him to stand up to the men) but I suppose in that case they wanted to give a spot to the guys fighting skills and build that character and as you mentioned that remains to be explained.

3.5/5

Every season we have a new IP making a name for it self and Heavenly Delusion might've already stamped itself as the frontrunner this season. A very STRONG debut!!

Production IG outdid themselves with this one, the animation is already so distinctive & fluid that i was literally flabbergasted by some frames & details throughout the run-time. It got progressively better as the episode went on and I can only imagine the levels of beautiful animation we're going to be treated with later on

Post - apocalyptic setting, always a fan. The notion for struggle in a familiar setting with unfamiliar consequences has always intrigued me and I can already feel this one's gonna be a doozy especially with it's mystery aspects. The main characters are decent, fine dynamics but we still have more time to learn about them. They're apparently looking for this "Heaven", after the "Collapse" , which I'm assuming was the world-ending event in this show. We actually start off in a weird secluded, school, research facility type place with a guy (or a girl??) named Tokio, who by the end of the episode, finds out that they are separated from the place our protagonists are. So, Tokio & co. must be in heaven and our protags in hell...right?? The comic reliefs felt appropriate and not TOO CRINGY. The mystery is there but I'm still not totally sold on the plot solely on the first episode, which is always a given but i doubt i will be after few more episodes

Good start. The best animation I've seen so far this year, hopefully they can keep it consistent more & less but yeah, partially sold on the show. Let's see if the second episode can completely hook me in

i'm intrigued. "outside world". "heaven". two pairs of the same people. people in that academy/facility seem to have special skills. man eating monsters. post apocalyptic world...

also glad they clarified that girl is 18-20 years old

some of the animation looked similar to the movie "waking life" in a few scenes. was kind of odd/different for an anime

6.5 or 7/10 to start

I really like the apocalyptic toune of this anime and the Sci-Fi in it. The interesting thing about this anime is that it lets things for interpretation and that the dialog is not the only method to gather information but the visuals too. A really solid first episod it looks like a good anime to rewatch because it looked like there was a lot of foreshadowing in it.

Very unexpectedly, people were talking about the smooth animation and not about the fact that this story is set in a dystopian world where man-eating monsters lurk in the night.

I like the mystery around the whole man-eating monsters and the facility where they nurture children. The cliffhanger at the end of the episode keeps me on the edge and wanting more.

Pretty cool. World has ended but there's obviously some sort of civilization if she was able to be hired as a body guard. And then you got the weird as onsen which somehow is operating and accepts cash as payment. Tho the ending of this episode leads us to think this isn't just some "normal" luxury business functioning in the apocalypse.

The outside world outside of "heaven" is a hellish wasteland. No wonder why Kiruko and Maru want to get outta there.
There are freakish monsters roaming the streets.
What I love about this anime is the the world building. I feel immediately immersed into the setting.

Golly the animation is good quality, fer sure!~

One thing I liked about this episode was the setting was explored without any exposition or narration. Not only with the setting, but the characters. The way Kiruko and Maru handled those hoodlums, or Kiruko is aware there's nothing to eat in the one house they were in and the scars she has, like, how'd she get 'em? There's still a bit of innocence to her though like when she tried to kiss herself in the mirror lol, or she got flustered when it was thought she could be Maru's lover.

Like the whole showing and not telling.

Then you got a group of people who are living sheltered from the outside world. I'm wondering how that came about.

The final scene was pretty rad too. I thought the monster looked pretty tame, but then you saw its face at the end and it's like 😨

Bruh that lady just busted into her room when the girl was about to kiss herself lol I wasn't expecting her to be 20. I wonder how she got all of the scars, she had so many of them. Why did the lady grab the knife? pretty sus. She'll probably give the kids to the monster which is maybe why they were drugged?? The lady from the intuition is weird. I wonder why the kids are trapped inside and why they were asked if they wanted to go outside

Although it’s probably my stupid ass watching shit at x2 lol anyways good stuff the ending was surprising to say the least
